The hotel is beautiful. It has wonderful old-world charm with all the wood and marble. The location is perfect - close enough to Republic street that you can walk there in a few minutes, but far enough away that the noise won't bother you. Right beside the Barrakka gardens with a wonderful view of the harbour. The staff were friendly! The bathroom was clean and spacious, and the shower had amazing water pressure. The breakfast was adequate - filling but not amazing, though I will say the coffee and the pain au chocolat were the highlights. Very close to the bus station for transport links.

A single bed - yes I booked a single room, my own fault. A small four foot double would fit in the room and be far more comfortable. The AC was fine for when I stayed (end of September) but I don't think it would be much good in the high heat of summer, it wasn't very powerful. I'm nit-picking now because the stay really was very good.

The location was excellent, five mins walk to bus station and two mins to the main street in one direction and Upper Barrakka in the other. Every single member of staff I met was welcoming and helpful, especially the chap who manages reception over night.

Any minor niggles made up for by the great location and lovely staff.

Location is excellent. Walkable to all sights of interest In Valletta. Also convenient to buses and the ferry. Breakfast was good selection. There was hot and cold selection and the views from the breakfast room is fantastic! Rooms are adequately furnished, very spacious. Could do with a bit of renovation and sprucing up as it is a very old historical building and beautiful inside.

Our room was right at end of the building where next door was construction for a new apartment block. Consruction work started at 6.30am. In addition it was facing g a main street and very noisy throughout the might as cars and trucks went by. Couldn't keep the window open at might as it was just too noisy.

Excellent location. Lovely rooftop restaurant for breakfast. Very friendly staff.

The shower curtain was a bit awkward and I ended up with more water outside than inside..

Roof top breakfast location was breath taking. Breakfast was good , not a huge variety but good enough for us. From the moment we arrived, staff were very attentive. Came immediately to set the air-conditioning and got us a pedestal fan on request. Coffee making facilities were also given as pre arranged when booking. Iron was also given as pre arranged. We were in room 44 , with the three windows, two of them overlooking the square and the breathtaking views. Our request for this room with the three windows were granted, thankyou. The view from the room at night was of amazing square, harbour and the large cruise ships docking, the feeling of not leaving the square, while in the bed room . The location was exceptional with the upper Barracka gardens on the door step, almost an extension of the hotel ,so could hang around until late overlooking the three cities. It was a wonderful experience staying in a historical old building, which was well maintained. Two bottles of water were given on the first day which we topped up daily from the water dispenser in the front room. Appreciated the recycling and topping up. Although next to the prime minister's office ( castille), taxi was allowed to briefly stop for loading and unloading. All the monuments, shops , cafes and bars walking distance, not forgetting the castille hotel coffee shop on the ground floor and the central bus station, just a few minutes away . Local bus service is very good and value for money to travel to any point of the island. Book with confidence, a home away from home !!

bath had a shower curtain (unhygienic) instead of a screen ( could update).The noise from the next room was heard . One whole night was impossible to sleep. Rest of the days were fine with quieter guests.

Location fantastic, good room size , very close to public transport if needed, open roof top breakfast and dining with great views worth taking photos, helpful and polite staff. I would recommend this hotel at the right price for short stays.

Small bathroom but bigger size if I got double or twin bedroom, shower unit fiddly, no window nets so people on opposite building can see you clearly with the curtains open (no privacy), bed mattress not comfortable, security box did not work properly but staff did try to fix it, breakfast just mediocre (I would not pay for it if it did not come part of the room deal).

location was perfect...all staff exceptional...happy to c me and assist..night receptionist over and above he!pful in assisting to travel outside Valleta at 6 am. Breakast was plentiful and replenished regularly...View exceptional. Room was cleaned daily....Towels changed daily.. No request was too much trouble. Wonderful pleasant and friendly staff...No moody or grumpy staff during my 4 day stay. Hotel very c!ose to bus station and port.

musty smell on arrival and at intermittent times of the day..hotel quite shabby but efforts of staff and !ocation make up for the minor not so good bits.

Fantastic location in the heart of Valletta. Loved that it had a top floor restaurant where breakfast was served overlooking the harbour. The bedroom was comfortable and the en-suite did the job. The atmosphere was oldy worldy and really charming and if I came back to Malta on my own again I would definitely book the hotel and throughly recommend it. The inclusive breakfast had a decent variety and set me up for days out. You were also allowed onto the top floor anytime even though the restaurant was closed.

Not a lot really. I guess in the UK I’m used to having tea/coffee making facilities, which would have been welcome and the small fridge didn’t seem to keep drinks cold, but I’m being picky tbf.

Breakfast was ample and on the 5th floor, probably one of the highest points in Valletta. Staff were very knowledgeable about the area and helpful. The location can't be beat..a short walk to the bus terminal and to the gardens. For fun, we took a horse and buggy ride around the perimeter of Valletta from the square where the hotel is located

The hotel is very old and a bit tired and, while we were there, had issues with plumbing, but the work schedule was posted in advance. There is a "vegan" cafe under the hotel which I cannot recommend. We ordered chocolate milkshakes and were given tepid chocolate milk, one in a glass with a long crack from top to bottom. When I asked for another glass, the waiter argued with me that it was ok as it "happened in the dishwasher." ( ???)

Location - on Castille square 5min walk to Main Bus Terminal Room - We had booked an Economy Twin Room ( Images attached ) ,which was spacious , full of light because of 2 balcony doors , comfy beds,additional blankets and pillows were available in the cupboard , impecably clean ,daily Room service with clean towels Breakfast -included in our Price , Buffet , served in a spacious area on the 5th Floor Staff - from Reception , to Cleaning , to Breakfast Room staff / assistants everybody very polite and always willing to assist and help ! Before arriving i was wuite curious of what to expect after reading many negative reviews regarding the Hotel and the rooms but I was more than pleasantly surprised . 100% recommendable

Only the ventilator in the Bathroom did not work which we reported to the reception staff
