Great big comfy bed, good hot shower, clean, with fan and AC. The breakfast (fruit, fresh coffee) was a lovely surprise. We were also really grateful to rent bikes directly from the hotel for $150mxn a day each. The terrace is beautiful and we sat out alone in the evenings playing chess and cards. Staff helpful and area is quiet and feels safe. 10 mins walk to the ‘busier’ parts of Bacalar. We also booked the recommended lagoon tour through the hotel after scoping out others in the town ($400mxn for a 2 hr pontoon tour with swimming and an hour kayaking) and found it was good value for money. There is also drinking water available communally.

We had to wait an hour to check in as the room hadn’t been cleaned, however this might have been a one-off. Backpackers should be aware that you are not permitted to dry clothes/towels on the terrace rails.

Location was in a banana grove in a quiet street. Accommodation was very simple, no cupboard or storage facility for clothes in room apart from a rail and a few hangers so everything was put on the floor.It is in a charming setting with a cute pool and garden and nice roof top area with hammocks and chairs and tables and communal fridge where a simple breakfast was available. Overall a simple, delightful quiet atmosphere. Also had free access to the sister hotel Tropic Beach Club right by the lagoon which was absolutely superb, we spent two days there.

I liked it all

Very large room and a huge, super comfortable bed. Cute sitting area upstairs and a nice pool. Accommodation in Bacalar is expensive so this is one of the best values you can get. Very friendly staff as well! It’s a 10 minute walk to the city centre but that’s all fine.

The shower just didn’t work properly, the water was coming out in all different directions which made it hard to take a proper shower. We’ve asked to fix it but there was a problem with the pipes which couldn’t be fixed in the weekend (when we were there).

evrything was fine, we Was happy to spend a lovely time here. Nice tarrace, walking distance to the center and quiet neighborhood. Very helpful staff, they helped with laundry and with all our needs. I Reccomend this place :)

breakfast could be a bit better and more varied, but it's nice that there is something. Everything they offered was always fresh and good quality, so there is nothing to complain about

Nice and comfortable (big) room, with a good bathroom and great bed. The hammocks in the common area are wonderful. Breakfast is very sober but it was not advertised as breakfast included so as an extra its nice, plus the coffee was really nice. Would recommend this place.

Too bad you can't take some water to fill up, nor is there water with breakfast. It's a good 10 minutes walk to the center but that's not too bad.

Nice quiet hotel (except from a few barking dogs in the night), clean rooms and great atmosphere. We were lucky to meet nice people from Holland and Switzerland and also because of them this was a great stay. Ana, the sister of the owner, feels like a mother of the hotel. She is always so friendly and arranges anything you like (taxi, restaurant reservation, laundry). The common area with the hammocks and the chairs is a great place to chill with others or by yourself. The restaurants are a 10 min walk, but the area is very safe to walk at night. We did a private boat tour with the other Dutch and Swiss people, really recommended. Ana, thank you so much for your great care, we really gonna miss you and Bacalar! Love from Holanda

The wifi wasn’t always very stable (but that wasn’t a big issue since we were here for a holiday) and the two persons bed in the three persons room was a bit small. But very cosy ;) I recommend to book the two persons room with king size bed at the first floor!

My boyfriend and I stayed in Xa-an for three nights. A great hostel. Anna our host was so welcoming and accommodating. It was very welcome after a few days in hectic Tulum. Anna have us a map when we arrived and gave us great restaurant recommendations. The hotel is about 5 minutes walk from the town centre. The perfect location just beside the community sports park where we went running every morning before having the coffee, fruit (you must try the bananas picked from the gardens) and cereal which is available on the terrace. The hotel is very clean and quiet with the biggest beds we’ve had since we’ve been in Mexico. On our last night we chilled on the hammocks on the terrace with the others guests & then went to bed & watched Netflix on TV. Facilities in their sister hostel, Tropic, on the lagoon are available and we went down and made use of their kayaks and got a great boat tour at sunset from Anna’s brother, Alejandro. We loved our stay here and couldn’t recommend it enough. There is a real family feel amongst the staff and guests which was lovely. Gracias amigos!!

Absolutely nothing

Xa’an is such a nice place to stay, with clean modern rooms and an amazing roof terrace. The garden is relatively small, but really nice to come home to and hang out - the pool is great to cool off after a warm day in town. In case you don’t mind to walk 10-15 min to go downtown, then you won’t regret staying here. Ana (the owner’s sister) took care of everyone while he is out of town, and she did that with so much care! She will open her own food bar very soon, we already know it will be worth your visit.

If you expect an extensive breakfast then you will be a bit disappointed (it’s coffee, cereals, and banana fresh from the garden), but there are plenty of options to have breakfast nearby so don’t worry.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They also were able to speak English. You can book a cenote tour there which is cheaper as at GetYourGuide or tripadvisor, just saying. Maybe there will be a change so check before but in our case it was like that. You can also go to a beach club for free when you are staying there. The receptionist will tell you otherwise ask them. The room has everything you need. beds, tv, toilet, shower, air conditioner. Fair enough and the price is top. You can park in front of the hotel for free. The center is 10 mins per walk. And they have a pool! Breakfast includes Kelloggs, fruits, toast and coffee. Fair enough.

The water pressure was kinda low and the shower had a interesting shower head, which spreads in nearly all directions. This wasn’t a problem for us but I thought we have to mention it.

Pleasant property, nice swimming pool area and covered roof terrace for leisurely chilling out. The owners are very friendly and give good tips for restaurants, beach bars, etc. The room is spacious and simply, but attractively decorated. Just a short walk away from the lake, parking space right in front of the property.

The breakfast is minimal, enough to get you started (fruit, cereal and coffee) but if you enjoy a full-option breakfast, you'd better head towards a breakfast bar in the center. We could have done with some more storage space in the room (wardrobe, nightstands).
