The Royalton Riviera exceeded our epectations in all aspects of our stay. We traveled to Cancun to join my friends from Toronto for a destination wedding. We booked the Diamond Club package, (HIGHLY RECOMMENDED) and were treated exceptionally on our stay. The wedding party was 27 people, and we all booked rooms in accordance with our budgets. Only the wedding couple and ourselves booked the Diamond Club package. Needless to say, we had a much better overall experience than the others of the group. That said, everyone had an amazing time, and nobody had anything bad to say about their week in Cancun. As a Diamond Club guest, we were assigned a Butler to attend to our needs. This makes seeking information and reserving restaurants much easier. Our room request was for an ocean view, and that is exaclty what we got. The room was very big, it has two queen sized beds in it. It had a large bathroom with a jacuzzi bath, a sofa and a balcony. It was luxury. One thing to note, the aircon in our room was exceptional! The Diamond Club rooms surround the Diamond Club facilities which include the Armadillo Restaurant, a couple of pools and the beach. These were all far quieter than the other areas of the resort. This makes the stay much more relaxing. And, if you want more action, the lobby is a short walk away, and the Royalton Pool is right out front; this is where all the festivities are held. There is Pool Aerobics, Foam parties and the White Pool party, live music, Karaoke and much more. There are a few nice shops on site, so you can buy things like casual clothing, jewelry and local products for gifts. The restaurants are good, there is food for all. Reserving a table is difficult if you are a party greater than 4, so the Butler service helps to resolve this, and is worth the extra money. There is also a Buffet restaurant that has enough variety to suit everyone. For breakfast, we went to the buffet and the chef made us omlettes to order; shout out to Miguel!

The shower did not drain as well as it should. The resort is due to be renovated, so this should be resolved. The ATM was out of order.

Loved my room, there was plenty to do(you can’t bored there), eat and drink. Went for a wedding, and the staff there made the day very pleasant. Wish I stayed longer so I could have a chance to use everything the hotel had to offer.

It is in secluded area if you want to get out be prepared to pay for a cab (no uber operates there), standard price was 75USD I believe to go playa de carmen one way, we paid for return too which meant the cab man would wait for you to do what you need to do. Mosquitoes everywhere, so got bitten pretty badly. But I made the mistake of not bringing any repellent. I would urge people to bring repellent with them. Would recommend getting them plug in ones for your room and the sprays/ cream for on the go. I know the hotel had no control over this- more a tip for travellers No streaming apps- channels were limited

The service was terrific. The staff is wonderful. The bed was very comfortable. It's a great location if you want to be away from the rest of the hotel zone. But if you want to go anywhere you need to hire a car or get on a group tour because the resort is quite far away from anything.

A few annoying things. Not a big deal. But you would expect a little better from the Royalton. Our shower door made a horrible sound like it was about to shatter when you opened and closed it. The shower drain didn't. We weren't expecting as much noise from the various wedding parties and the constant music playing all the time. The food in the restaurants was mediocre. We found the best food was actually in the buffet where you could actually pick and choose your food and make your own salads etc. The pools that we swam in were not particularly clean with quite a good lot of debris like tissues or wipes floating in the water. The lids did not fit on the paper coffee cups at the coffee bar which made for a lot of spillage.

The staff were amazing, very attentive! And our room with the swim up pool was perfect for our 4 month old. Room was kept very clean and was very comfortable. We had mostly everything we needed at our disposal and it was the perfect first family holiday!

We would have loved more options for lunch (especially something a bit healthier) as the buffet was you’re far away and not the best atmosphere. Also would have been great to have access to filtered water on demand. It was brought around once a day to the room in small bottles and with a small baby we needed a lot more for bottles etc.

Grounds were very well kept, the food was great, the entertainment was great. We had an amazing time. The staff was attentive. The room was clean and room service was amazing. The staff treated you like family. We will most certainly be back!!

Only thing that could of been better is the resort is dated. The good thing is, is I believe they are working on this as I seen people doing renovations! The main pool had things floating in it by the stairs and filmy. But that’s it!

The property was very clean. There were activities going on everyday no matter what section you stayed in. The food was plenty. I would overall give her food 7/10.

Mosquitoes are very very bad. They are all over the resort….in the hallways and in the room. Please make sure you bring bug spray. The spray at the resort is expensive. Please close the room door because they will get in. My face, ears, body was all bit up.

The staff were very polite, helpful, friendly and supportive. The selection of food, drinks and service were excellent. Really great value for money experience.

The jacuzzi in our room broke down and flooded our room on the first day of use, it was not repaired, so we couldn't really enjoy the experience. Staff response to this was rather disappointing.

The hotel was excellent, definitely coming back. We checked in with concierge which is different depending on the room booked. It was a bit of a long wait but there were lots of food and drinks while you wait just don’t get too drunk so you can actually check in lol. Food was great. Service was excellent. We ate at most of the restaurants, the only one that was a bit disappointing was the Caribbean and this is only because the menu does not have Caribbean dishes such as jerk chicken and peas and rice. We also visited the spa which was excellent but a bit pricey. We have the couples massage and hydrotherapy. Both are highly recommended and you’ll get the best out of it for your money. We stayed at the terrace jacuzzi room that came with a butler and 25% off spa treatments. Our morning butler Veny was very attentive and check on us multiple times in the day. He made our reservations , always going an extra mile to make us happy. We are also appointed a night butler but we never met or spoke which wasn’t really a problem for us. I wish we stayed at the hideaway away from children and it’s more romantic and gives a private vibes for couples or girls/boys trip. The diamond club beach bar is a but disappointing. I like the swings, cute for pictures. Overall the hotel is really huge , we kept on finding different places and spots each day. The location is far away from the centre/ nightlife what is also known as the hotel zone where you find your attractions, tourist shops and etc. taxi is very expensive $40-50 usd each way. However I felt really safe at the hotel, lots of security and measures to ensure safety.

The rooms, facilities, cafes, restaurants, club, swimming pools were absolutely amazing! Food was good, especially the buffet as it catered to everyone

The tipping culture was confusing for someone coming from the UK as we never knew what was appropriate and seemed to have gotten it wrong multiple times.

Diamond Club butlers service. Beautiful pool areas. Comfy bed. Beautiful views. Food was amazing and breakfast was my favourite.

Lack of organisation with rooms. Changed room 3 times. My original room was still occupied and the hotel had no idea.
