The Jan Luyken hotel is a gem in Amsterdam. The location, the staff, all of the amenities, and especially the warmth had us feeling like we were at home. Breakfast and the drink selection were such a delicious bonus. The room was vibrant and with a great view. The location was stellar, and a convenient walk to the museums, shopping, and lots of good food. A huge credit to the staff for their friendly nature and making our stay as easy as possible.

We were met with exceptional friendliness, which made us feel immediately at home. We were able to take drinks from the bar whenever we wished, there were tea and cakes provided every afternoon at no extra cost, and there was a comfortable library sitting room and a delightful garden in which to sit. Our room was very comfortable with a huge bed and very hot water for a bath or shower. . The breakfast was delicious, freshly baked bread and croissants, smoked salmon cheese and ham, granola, fruit salad and yogurt aplenty.

Nothing could be improved; our stay was perfect.

The location is great, a quick walk to the Rijksmuseum as well as Van Gogh Museum, canal boats, and picturesque walks along the canals. We loved the breakfast room and great food options. It really felt like home--down to the Almond Milk in the refrigerator as a milk alternative and freshly baked breads and hard boiled eggs. There were cozy nooks to enjoy relaxing with a croissant and coffee or fresh fruit in the afternoon. The staff was very welcoming and helpful with sugggestions. We loved that there were bikes available for use, but sadly we ran out of time & didn't get to use them. Next time, perhaps! Oh yes, most importantly, the beds were comfy!

I loved the hospitality from the staff and the friendliness of the guests. The staff was super attentive to all the guests, helping with tourism advice, taxis, and dining options The 24 hour self serve amenities are outstanding. Breakfast was excellent, with fresh baked bread, a toaster, fresh fruit, juices, pastries, salmon and avocado, and the best latte and espresso machine. I found the breakfast room comfortable. I loved looking out the window while sipping coffee. The staff work very hard to make breakfast a relaxing experience. There is a happy hour from 4-7pm with wonderful cheeses, olives, and other snacks. Coming back from a museum to a charcuterie plate and a glass of champagne was fantastic. The tram and bus lines are two minutes from the front door. Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh museum, and MOCO are literally minutes away. I took the bus to the airport and it was so convenient, easy, and inexpensive. This was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had! Thank you to the staff for their hard work.

The room was excellent, very comfortable. The bathtub was a bit slick while showering. It would be good to offer a mat for the tub surface. Other than than, loved the entire experience

The hotel has great character, cozy, trendy, I really enjoyed the vibe. The room was comfortable in Amsterdam style, don't expect too much room, but also not cramped. The staff were very friendly and made me feel real welcome, the free wet bar was an amazing perk and breakfast was very tasteful and simple. The gym was also very functional and yet unique and full of character.

The choice of dutch style toilets is a bold one, not a problem, just odd. The WiFi was a little aggressive in kicking you out everyday and just remaining quiet enough that you may not notice you are not on the Wifi. The bed was comfortable but since it was made of two joined beds, mine appeared to drift slightly apart overnight so I always woke up in a bit of a dip.

The hotel’s location was excellent — very central and close to everything I needed, including public transport, shops, museums and restaurants. The room was chic and offering a comfortable stay.

However, I was not fully satisfied with the cleanliness of the room and bathroom, which could have been better maintained. The staff didn’t seem like they really worked there; it felt as if they were just stopping by rather than being attentive or involved. I understand this is a different concept of hotel but I was not familiar with it so it felt a bit off.

The entire hotel is such a fun, interesting space. Front desk staff was so friendly and helpful describing the hotels amenities. We loved the sitting room off of the entry area. Our room was lovely and cozy with a nice view and our bed was like sleeping on a cloud. We never heard any exterior or neighboring room noises. Breakfast was outstanding. Fresh baked pastries, beautiful charcuterie board, selection of fresh jams and spreads, fresh fruit, anything and everything you could want to drink. We had to leave for the airport before breakfast the next morning and the front desk surprised us with breakfasts to go ❤️

The hotel has a nice feel to it, more a club than a hotel, especially with the various eats and drinks available in the ground floor reception rooms - as well as these being included in the price. And it is only a few minutes' walk to the main museums.

A good size bedroom and nicely furnished -the only problem was the low lighting - and with art nouveau style tassels over the bedside lights, reading in bed was difficult and there was no decent room light for general use. This is a common problem with hotels in my experience.

Location was excellent. Rooms were nice. Always open snacks and drinks were good. Staff was very friendly.

1. In spite of being a large room, there was not enough space to store clothes or unpack suitcase. 2. Lighting was very dim, so difficult to unpack or pack at night. 3. All the larger rooms have a bathtub but it is a little high for shorter people and there are no grab bars to help senior citizens to either help them get in and out or to hold onto if it is slippery. Tho staff was good and provided anti skid mat for the tub immediately.

Located in Amsterdam's museum area, the hotel is in a historic building, but equipped with all modern ammenities. The room was big, bright, spacious. In the bathroom were French cosmetics, fluffy towels, bathrobes and slippers. The bed was comfortable. The hotel is a little different from the usual concept in that in the lobby you have permanent access to coffee, water, wine, alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. In the afternoon there are various savory snacks available for the guests. I particularly liked the cheese. Fresh fruit and pastries (croissant, pain aux chocolat, muffins) are always available. It feels more like a home away from home than a hotel. The staff was extremely friendly. Another thing to appreciate is that access to the hotel late in the evening, after the front door is closed and into the room is via a digital key on your phone. Breakfast for me means a cup of espresso and a croissant. But it was much more varied than that.
