I loved the homely feel of the common areas. Complimentary afternoon snacks were lovely. Bed was so comfy I slept peacefully every night. I could walk to the museums and the tram stop nearby was good for anything further away than a few blocks.

Location is great. We like to walk so 15-20 mins to center was great to explore. This is a very nice townhouse with great service and nice breakfast and some light bites for happy hour. We loved it. Had a medium room which was great and has a pull out couch or bed on request if you are traveling with a minor.

It could use a little makeover. Paint Jon is much needed in hallways and rooms. Carpet looks worn out. Otherwise rooms are spotless with nice decor and beds were really comfy. Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends

The Jan Luyken hotel is a gem in Amsterdam. The location, the staff, all of the amenities, and especially the warmth had us feeling like we were at home. Breakfast and the drink selection were such a delicious bonus. The room was vibrant and with a great view. The location was stellar, and a convenient walk to the museums, shopping, and lots of good food. A huge credit to the staff for their friendly nature and making our stay as easy as possible.

Great location: just minutes away from the Museum Quarter. The street is very quite. The interior was beautiful: art deco tiles, exquisite bouquets, the colors, the selection of books - it's a visual feast to the eyes. The townhouse concept is great: while unusual at first, it's really more cozy and comfortable compared to traditional hotels. The staff blends in (no uniforms) and is very pleasant to talk to.

The room wasn't as exquisite as the common areas: it'd be awesome to be immersed in that beauty and style in the room, too. My breakfast expectations were different: I expected it to be more meal-like, with beans and fried eggs, for example. The selection was still great though. Having more healthy snacks like vegetables and kombucha would be appreciated. Cleaning could've been better (small issues only).

The concept of the hotel is wonderful. We felt so much like at home. Very peaceful area of Amsterdam, very safe and short walking to the stress of the city center. The staff of the hotel is extremely nice and attentive and willing to make the stay a pleasant one. The breakfast was with a few things but at very good quality and very tasty. The coffee was wonderful. Always fresh fruits in the lobby area. It is a really pet friendly hotel as you could sit all around even having a breakfast with your pet. We missed this cozy and wonderful place when we went to The Hague. Definitely coming back!

The air conditioning in the lobby area was really strong for us.

We were met with exceptional friendliness, which made us feel immediately at home. We were able to take drinks from the bar whenever we wished, there were tea and cakes provided every afternoon at no extra cost, and there was a comfortable library sitting room and a delightful garden in which to sit. Our room was very comfortable with a huge bed and very hot water for a bath or shower. . The breakfast was delicious, freshly baked bread and croissants, smoked salmon cheese and ham, granola, fruit salad and yogurt aplenty.

Nothing could be improved; our stay was perfect.

Jan Luyken Amsterdam is a quiet gem in the heart of the city. The interior design strikes a perfect balance between elegance and comfort, curated but never overdone. The staff were truly exceptional: warm, present, and genuinely welcoming. From the first moment, we felt taken care of. The location couldn’t be better, and the breakfast fresh, thoughtful, and satisfying, made for a great start to each day.

If there’s one detail to mention, it’s the breakfast room during peak hours, the space felt a bit tight. Not a major issue, but worth noting. That said, it’s a minor trade-off in a city where space is always at a premium. It didn’t take away from the overall experience, which remained effortless and enjoyable throughout.

This hotel redefines what it means to be a hotel and what “service” means. It’s like visiting a friend with a nice house They make snacks and drinks, including fruit, juices, beer, wine, other alcoholic drinks available all day, all night, for free. You can enjoy these in the warm and inviting living room, or the library or in the close garden in the back. Or take them up to your room. A nutritious and full breakfast is included. They serve boiled eggs, croissants, juices, a variety of breads, cake, cold cuts, and cheese and more. The staff is friendly and helpful You can borrow a bicycle to ride around town. The rooms are impeccably clean. I see no reason why I would stay anywhere else in future visit storm Amsterdam

like any Home or boutique hotel in Europe the stairs are a death trap.

Loved the location, the decor, the food, the staff. I will definitely stay here again. Very comfy beds, nice library room and outdoor sitting area, lots of cute details (e.g., fresh flowers, drinks included)

the showers were a bit small and close to the ceiling. This was fine for me but my husband is 6ft 4inches and he would not fit (head would hit ceiling and be above the water nozzle). Not sure if this is the same in all rooms, but if you're tall perhaps ask if they have a room with a better shower for you.

The location can't be beat if you want to be out of the city center and near the museums and parks. Free drinks and snacks were a nice perk. Our room was very spacious compared to others we've had in large European cities, although from the emergency exit layout it was one of the larger ones at the hotel. The staff was helpful, although I found it odd that one of the clerks did not speak Dutch so could not help us with a local reservation.

Although the room was large, there was no closet and no drawer or shelf space. Thus we had to use our open suitcases laid on the floor and the couch for four days. The shower setup (a wand in a narrow bathtub with a moveable glass panel and no slip protection) was EXTREMELY dangerous to use - especially to get in and out of. Has no one in Europe heard of grab bars? The breakfast consisted mainly of breads and croissants with little protein available and nothing hot - probably typical in Europe, but we've had much better.
