We booked 2 rooms - one for my husband and myself and the other for our (adult) son. Our rooms were very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. Lighting the in the bathroom was good, esp, for putting on make-up and even had a make-up mirror. The staff were very friendly and helpful; front desk staffed 24/7. I had a minor accident and staff got ice from their bar and band aids for me to use. We had their breakfast 2 of the days (discount if you reserve the day before); it was typical European spread of breads/cheese/meat/fruit and drinks (tea, espresso, juice), and very good. Both rooms were very small, but there was enough room for our suitcases/backpacks, and cubbies/closet to put things in. You can't beat the location - across from Museum Square and Vondelpark in a quiet, upscale neighborhood. Bus/tram stop at Museum Square. Also, grocery and restaurants easy walk away.

Bathroom was small - toilet quite close to wall and shower also small. It was fine for us, but for a large person might be a bit of a squeeze. Stairs are curved and small (like so many in Europe), but also had. an elevator. No central air conditioning (it is an old building), but fans in room and opening window sufficed to keep room temp OK (it was up to 70's-80 degree F outdoor temp).

I liked the room we stated in. It was comfortable and sufficient for the 3 of us. It was warm and felt like home. I had read some reviews that weren’t so great before we checked in. But after staying there, I’m glad that my experience was far better. I enjoyed the breakfast too. There was great variety of food (and vegan options) and the kitchen staff was helpful. There hotel is also centrally located - about 150m from the tram station, some minutes walk to the high street and central park. I highly recommend.

All was good

Our room didn't have much of a view, but it was still a lovely view. I loved how close the hotel was to the Ruks Museum, restaurants and public transportation. While our room was small, it was very comfortable and unique. Amsterdam is extremely walkable. We actually walked to catch our train at Amsterdam Central, only about a 30 minute walk. We took advantage of the bike rental offered at the hotel. Doing the 24 hour rental allowed us to ride bikes most of the day and then also the following morning. And they were super comfortable! The front desk was very friendly and helpful, even printing our train ticket for our return trip.

I think more people would take advantage of your lovely bicycles if the rental price was a bit less.

We stayed for three nights with our 6 year old daughter and only have great things to say. Our room was small, but great for the three of us. The staff were exceptional and helpful. We included breakfast with our stay and were very happy with the selection (eggs, cold cuts, toast, pastries, Greek yogurt, cereal). The location was perfect. It is on a quiet street and is walkable to everything. It is about a 30 minute walk to central station, but the location was great for us!

I don’t have a bad thing to say.

Super cute boutique right by the museums and very near to thriving Leidseplein area. Front desk very welcoming and friendly. LOVED the basketball net in our room! Such a unique and fun addition :)

We had a twin room and the beds were VERY small! My feet were hanging off the end and I’m only 5’2! The room also needs AC, it was so hot at night, even in October. Also - would love for housekeeping to come every day (tbh this can be requested but I didn’t think to ask) . Having a tidy and clean room is one of the joys of staying in a hotel over Airbnb, and they didn’t tidy the room until late afternoon on the 3rd day.

Nice cozy rooms, small but well planned, great warm colurs. Quiet location but still very close to the museums and the canals. Friendly staff, good breakfast.

The breakfast could have had better bread. Also it was constructionwork going on just outside our room, starting very early in the morning so there were not much sleep. Nothing that the hotel can be blamed for of course, but it would have been nice with a heads up and maybe a litte discount or complimentary something to make it easier to accept getting very litte sleep. The bed was comfy but also very squeaky.

There is a lot to love about this hotel. The location is superb. Right across the street from the Rhijksmuseum, steps from the canal, and close to great shops and restos. The staff were very friendly and helpful and there is aways someone up front at the desk making you feel safe. We had the small room. It was great for 2 people and the bed was super comfy.

Our room was clean yet quite dusty and it was quiet at the hotel but the walls were paper thin so you felt like the other guests were in the same room as you. It didn't bother us too much but there were times where it was a bit annoying. None of the guests were exceptionally noisy, it was just the construction of the place.

This is a typical Amsterdam hotel, in a series of old houses, designed with 'shabby-chic', quirky, Dutch originality. I liked it, as it was unpretentious and unfussy but it was NOT cheap. Actually, I found everything in Amsterdam expensive and I am from London. That said, the hotel is well-placed for the museums and trams. A real plus. I was very happy with my room.

I think there could be a bit of a refresh, as the shower area has tired grouting. Also, the staff should have proper firedrill training and a system of how to handle these sorts of emergencies. The alarm went off one early morning and it was chaotic in the lobby. The poor member of staff on her own was overwhelmed.

Due to heating system renovations, we were relocated to another Max Brown location in the Canal District — and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. Our room had an exceptional view of one of the most beautiful canals in the city, which made the stay even more special. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed, and the staff were absolutely lovely — helpful, kind, and always ready to assist. We’ll definitely be coming back again (and again)!

We organized a bachelorette party in Amsterdam and booked this hidden gem at the last minute. The hotel is situated on a quiet street but still close to the Rijksmuseum and other major attractions. The rooms are small but clean, and the bathroom was in good condition. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating—they provided us with glasses and an ice bucket upon request.

The only downside was that the room didn’t have air conditioning, only a fan. Since we stayed on a very hot day (+30°C) and there were three of us in the room, it got quite warm.
