Swissotel is placed on a Dam square which makes it an outstanding starting point to wander around the city center. It has quite large rooms (compared to other places in Amsterdam). The bathroom was really nice and well designed. You can find a full minibar, tea and coffee in the room and the variety of lightning in the room (4 different sources of light) is worth mentioning.

The two mattresses on the double bed tend to slip apart, they could really do with one large mattress. I'd appreciate more variety of salty breakfast options (like different sausages or variations of eggs).

The staff were exceptionally kind and helpful. In particular, Rob went above and beyond to help us to move to a lovely room with a walk in shower for our last two nights. The hotel was situated in the perfect position on Dam Square, with a tram stop nearby. The room was superbly furnished, with attention to detail, and exceptionally clean. The bed was extremely comfortable, and I actually slept well for the first time in a long time. A huge thank you to all the staff who were so friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be returning to this hotel, and recommending it to our friends too. Thank you so much for a much needed break.

We requested a room with a walk in shower, as I am disabled and unable to climb into a bath to take a shower. Unfortunately the first room we were offered only had a shower over the bath. The room was also dark, with a very small window which had opaque glass, so there was no looking out of the window.

Lovely modern and spacious room Very comfortable bed , two chairs also in the room plenty of space to hang clothes and store suitcases out of the way . Electric curtains, soft close bathroom door, plenty of sockets even one which was uk . Overall a very thoughtful space for a guest . Staff were friendly at check in and check out. We asked before heading out for the evening for more teabags and coffee pods as they hadn’t been replenished that morning and when we returned that night they had been delivered

I haven’t anything negative to say about the hotel

Dear Swissôtel Amsterdam Reception Team, I would like to sincerely thank you for your warmth, kindness, and incredible professionalism. After experiencing a number of issues and disappointments at another place, I arrived at Swissôtel feeling exhausted and discouraged. But from the very first moment, your welcoming attitude and willingness to help changed my entire energy. What initially felt like a stressful and confusing trip turned into a peaceful and pleasant experience—thanks to your team. You reminded me how powerful genuine hospitality can be. I truly appreciate your support and the care you showed me. You made me feel not only like a guest, but truly welcomed. Warm regards, Müge Selvitop

Swissotel is in an ideal location, close to the station and within walking distance of all the main sights. My room was ready earlier than the stated check-in time, wichh was lovely.

The hotel directory says the bar opens until 10 pm, but when I went in at 9 pm bar staff seemed unhappy to see me and access from the street had already been closed off. I'd planned to relax there for an hour, but I felt unwelcome - and when I headed back to my room at around 9.40 pm, I noticed they'd already put a 'closed' sign up on the door from the hotel. No surprise, I was their only customer!

Amazing location, spacious modern room, great amenities supplied (including a sewing kit that I was able to use to fix a clasp on my skirt!). Great view from the 6th floor. The building has two elevators which are very quick. There are also both UK and EU outlets in the room.

The bathroom doesn't have a fan so it gets very steamy. The staff are professional in a more serious way, so they don't always feel the most welcoming. You will have to pay €150 deposit on arrival, which is another expense to consider, however this was back in my bank account within 2 hours of checkout. Complimentary water was provided however it was not a twist-off cap, and there was no bottle opener in the room, so I had to get creative.

My wife and I really liked this hotel located right at the Dam. Great location to go anywhere by foot, train or tram, etc. Staff was very welcoming and helpful. Very pleasant European feel in the lobby, corridors and in the rooms. Nice restaurant attached to the hotel; convenient if you don't want to go out. Provides discounted buffet breakfast if you are a hotel guest. Nothing but good to say about our 6 nights stay at the Swisshotel.

The mattress was a little soft, but overall the bed was comfortable.

The stuff was really nice especially when we checked in. A really nice receptionist gave us some recommendations that were good. It was clean and the room was cleaned also the second day and we really appreciate that.

Everything was nice except that the room on the pictures when I booked looked bigger. We booked a premium double room and thought it's bigger then the standard double room. It was saying it has a seating area which we didn't have so that was a little bit weird so I think the pictures could be a little misleading.

I liked the bathroom (walk-in rainfall shower) and the quality of bedding. Room had plenty of storage space and multiple options for lighting. Location is excellent, a 10-minute walk from the Central Station.

I think the only thing I was surprised by, was that as soon as we left the lobby and entered the elevators, all cell phone reception was pretty much cut off: phonecalls didn't go through and 4G/5G reception was useless. This forced us on to the hotel WiFi, which I generally do not like (security reasons) but had decent speed nonetheless. Not sure what can be done about this, given that the space between the surrounding buildings is just a few feet and it's all made of stone through-and-through. However, safety reasons might warrant something to be done about this: for example, there's no way of using your cellphone to make a direct phonecall if something unexpected were to happen.

Super comfortable bed, great shower, and cold air conditioning in a clean room. After a week in Italy, we were delighted with the Western comforts we were used to on our way back home! The most comfortable stay we had the whole trip. Staff was super friendly, and location was great for a night of walking around the city. Very central and lively area on a Saturday night and close to tons of food options and shopping. Royal palace is right next door. We liked that the front door locked after 11pm and required buzzing in for security.

A little loud outside on a Saturday night, but as expected and it didn't keep us from falling asleep.
