The guesthouse is very central and everything is close there. We stayed on the 4th floor and even though the stairs are a workout we didn’t mind. The room is spacious with a massive comfy bed, lovely sized fridge and a microwave too. Great shower and a nice little table for chilling by the window. It’s nice and quiet and private also. We loved the room. ❤️ Also the host Nanda is very nice to deal with. Great communication. We are very grateful and happy we picked here for our accommodation.

I was staying in Amsterdam with my wife for a weekend, we wanted a place in a central location so that we can make the most of the time we had in the city. Our travel to Amsterdam was really long, we arrived to the object in the middle of the night, really tired and immediately the room felt like a wonderful security blanket that covered us both and made all worries disappear :) The feeling lasted for the whole stay. To be more specific, the room has great location, right by the canal, close to amsterdam train station, walking distance to anything you might find interesting. The interior of the room is super comfy, clean, good quality, good equipment. There were complimentary drinks (tee for sure) & sweets and even though we could buy our own sweets it still felt super nice to find them, just a really great vibe. Nanda, the owner was also super nice. She made sure we could locate the object easily, she was there whenever we needed any asisstance, we felt taken care of. Truthfully, the object itself was a highlight of the city, along places like Rijks Museum & the canals :) Strongly recommend it!

A great little hideaway for a couple in a central location close to Metro, Trams and other modes of transportation. Our host, Nanda was wonderful with communication and gave us great information for the neighborhood and other things we were interested in. Cafes, restaurants and stores close by. Having a refrigerator, Coffee pot with pods, hot water pot and a microwave make the stay convenient for all your needs. The heater worked so well especially with the chilly, wet December weather. The ceiling fan helped keep the air circulating when needed. The best feature by far is the view over the canals from the 4th floor window. Sitting in the window seat over the heater, watching the canal boats go by, people walking, and biking and all the city lights fill you with such a connection to Amsterdam.

The stairs to the 4th floor are steep and narrow which was what we expected but if you are not used to them, it can be tiring. I did appreciate that Nanda describes the booking of an old canal house with these steep stairs and after we booked made sure we knew that was the case and that we could cancel if we needed. If you want the view, you have to climb the stairs with your bags.

First of all, the location is amazing. The view from the window is lovely and the room is clean, comfortable and warm (I went late autumn). Everything is as advertised and the communication with Nanda was great and very clear. Highly recommend.

As others have pointed out, the room is in the fourth floor with only stairs, in pure dutch fashion. However, Nanda was very clear to point it out once I made the reservation and the going up was completely worth it given the comfort of the room itself.

Our vacation at the Swanestein Canal House was pleasant from start to finish. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and modernly furnished, offering a beautiful view of the canal. The beds were extremely comfortable, making getting up in the morning a pleasure. The hotel's central location allowed us to easily reach all the major sights of the city on foot. Overall, our stay at the Swanestein Canal House was a thoroughly positive experience that I happily recommend. We are already looking forward to our next visit! :)

The location was central and within walking distance of the majority of Amsterdam's tourist attractions. The room was furnished wonderfully, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. Had tea, coffee and mini stroopwafels, the last of which was enough to make me a very happy person. The host was incredibly communicative, helpful and welcoming, which made the stay a lot more pleasant.

It's to be completely expected in an Amsterdam townhouse, but the stairs were quite steep, so maybe not ideal for those with preexisting injuries/chronic conditions. Again, to be expected and a bonus if you like stairs.

We stayed for three nights and the location was perfect. It was quiet and safe and the room was spacious, clean and great decor. Nanda goes out of her way to think of small details to get the most out of your trip. She had great recommendations, especially for a Canadian tourist who has never been to Amsterdam. I highly recommend.

This isn't a complaint, more of a warning for people with more limited mobility, the stairs are steep and it's a lot of flights. It was fine for us (especially me since my boyfriend hauled my suitcase.

I stayed in the room with the canal view for three nights and loved it! After walking around the busy streets, it was nice to come back to the peace and quiet of the room but still be able to see the boats going by and the birds in the trees. The location is perfect for exploring Amsterdam. An easy walk to and from the train station, it's surrounded by great restaurants, coffee shops, and more. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe in the neighborhood, even walking to catch the train early in the morning on the day I left. The bed is very comfortable and the room was clean. I had to do a video call for work while I was there, and the wifi was fast and reliable enough to handle that without any issues. Nanda provided clear check-in instructions and was quick to respond to messages. After reading all of the comments about the stairs, I imagined them being a struggle, but I actually didn't think they were a big deal at all! If you have physical challenges or travel with multiple heavy suitcases, this might not be a good fit for you, but otherwise, don't fear the stairs. This is a great place to stay in Amsterdam!

It was wonderful to stay in a typical Amsterdam building! Very comfortable, cute room and well-kept. Amazing view of the canal (we were in the “purple room”). Complete amenities and beyond! Central location - everything was accessible by foot or tram.

We liked everything, but you must be aware that you need to climb many flights of narrow stairs to the 4th floor.

The room was very comfortable, including a huge bed, 2 comfortable chairs, a small dining table and basic appliances (small refrigerator, espresso machine, kettle, etc.). We bought some bread, cheese, spreads and vegetables and were able to have decent breakfast at the apartment before getting out to the city every morning. I do recommend adding some more food (e.g., a plate of cheese and more spreads), on top of the crackers, chocolate spread, jam and honey that were provided. Location is the best! Everything is 5-20 minutes walk, including the Central Station. We haven't used any transportation other than the train from Schipol to the city and back. And at the same time, it is very very quiet during day and night! Nanda, the owner, was lovely and very communicative, and we were grateful and moved for her lovely gesture for our 25th anniversary.

When booking, we managed to miss the fact that the room we chose (the double room) does not have a view to the canal (as opposed to the studio). It is defined as "city view", but the view was mainly of some rooftops and chimneys. This was a bit dissapointing but it's really a small thing compared to the huge advantages of the property. Another thing was the stairs - it was very clear when booking, we managed to climb up and down twice a day, and of course it is very personal, but for those who might struggle with stairs it might be very challenging (4th floor, stairs narrow and steep).
