I read quite some negative comments (in google) about this hotel (after my payment was done), it worried me - so I want to share my latest experience to overrule these comments: 5 main negative comments from other visitors were: 1) Bed bugs - NOT TRUE - The room (#32) was clean, no bed bugs or any other insects observed during our stay, they cleaned it every day (stayed 3 night), they didn't collect tips even. 2) Slippery floor in bathroom - NOT TRUE, normal tiles, only being fully unconscious you can fall down there (like anywhere) 3) Small size of room - that's true, but guys, you are in the centre of old Amsterdam, in 400+ year old building, so expecting large room there is nonsense. Want a big room, don't visit centrally located hotels, or prepare to pay a grand per night. 4) Too noisy - partially true, the place is surrounded with at least 4 coffeeshops (those w/out coffee, if you know what I mean) and a couple of bars. Indeed a couple of times some noisy crowds were passing by, and this is because you are in the CENTRE of Amsterdam. Wanna calm stay - go to village, not the city centre. 5) Staff wasn't very polite - NOT TRUE - I have seen at least 3 different people during my stay, all were professional, polite and positive - it happens when you behave the same way to people. The hotel is in the middle of Amsterdam life. Walking distance to the most sightseeings in the centre, 20 min walk to Central station - location is exactly why it was chosen for. Price is not different from other hotels similar location. The hotel is small, so I didn't expect any facilities like restaurant, as far as there are dozens of food places around. Value for money is great. The only reason it's 9 (not 10), is that it's difficult to surprise me and I wasn't choosing hotel for more than clean bed close to main sightseeing. If evaluate only for these 2 - this is 10.

There is nothing happened what I wouldn't expect. No dedicated storage room to leave luggage (was an area in corridor where they asked me to leave the bags) - so who cares, the bags where found 3 hours later where I left them.

We found Hotel the Bird to be clean, welcoming, and in a wonderful central location for exploring Amsterdam. There is scaffolding on the outside of the Hotel at the moment but this did not impact our stay. The room was compact but comfortable, and we loved having our own mini-fridge (for all the Dutch cheese!). Hot chocolate was also very good.

There was a green light outside which turned on at night and shone brightly into our room through the curtains, and the price is steep (but everywhere in Amsterdam is expensive).

Rooms were lovely and clean. Staff were so nice and welcoming. The location is fantastic and so close to the tram stop and to the centre. Lovely view from our room too. Bed was super comfy and there was a safe and tea and coffee in the room.

The space between the shower and wall with toilet in between was a little small for us

Good location and helpful staff. Arrived early (midday’ish) expecting to just drop off our suitcase but the room was ready and we were able to check in right away. Good walk in shower with drencher head as well as a smaller hand held shower head. The hotel is in a good location close to the tram service (Trams 4 & 14 which go to and from Grand Central Station) and lots of cafe bars.

Small room and bathroom but I guess there is limited space in most of Amsterdam’s small hotels. No view as only looking out onto a small enclosed courtyard but having already paid £170 for the night didn’t fancy paying more just to have a view over the street and canal.

Better than expected some reviews are a bit critical. The room was small yes but it’s Amsterdam. The room was big enough for two of us without bum getting in each others way. Little wardrobe space which was great, mini fridge, coffee facilities and free WiFi. The location is suburb.

Not the end of the world but improvements:- 1.hair dryier needs upgrading 2.the lighting for more the ladies as jot great for makeup 3. A coat hook would be good You couldn’t get Netflix on the tv but you can cast from an abroad. We didn’t have a canal view which was disappointing but you can’t have it all.

The hotel was well situated, about 15 minute walk from Centraal station, but very close to a number of decent bars and restaurants that we used for most of our time. The hotel itself was clean and tastefully decorated, with a lift. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a complimentary coffee machine in the foyer. The room was compact but adequate for our needs, with a great view of the canal, it had tea / coffee facilities, a large TV with limited UK channels and a functional bathroom with a decent shower. Would we recommend this hotel? Most definitely, in fact when we return in the future, we will come here again. The attached photo is from our bedroom window.

Nothing really, You get the occasional whiff of "something" from the "coffee" shop below but no more than you get from walking around the city.

Excellent central location and our room overlooked the Amstel canal which was a major plus. Unique small boutique no frills hotel in the bustling center of Amsterdam. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. Very walkable to all major areas and Rembrandt square is a block or so behind the hotel with a variety of restaurants. While basic, the rooms have good bedding, linens and AC, which came in handy. They provide a hot pot and supplies in the room and a cappuccino machine in the lobby.

There is little storage area but very clean and worked for our short stay. It might become cramped for a longer stay. Very compact bathroom that was a little difficult to maneuver about but we made it work. Based on the pricing of other hotels in that prime location it was a good value. If you want a unique comfortable place to explore this amazing city.

There isn't anything I could pick out that I didn't like being honest

Great location, within walking distance of many/most attractions. Plenty of food/drink in the surrounding area. Can't speak for the whole hotel but our room was exceptionally quiet considering the location of the property. I can recommend staying there for more budget-minded travelers. The room was clean. We got what we expected. Very basic. Plenty of hot water and good water pressure in the shower.

As expected, the room was a little cramped so no big deal. Biggest complaint was there was very little room to maneuver and unpack bags with three in the room. Aside from that, nothing really.

We recently stayed 3 nights at Hotel The Bird. Highly recommend this little boutique hotel in the heart of centrum area. Clean, comfortable, friendly helpful staff and with elevator! Walked to ‘all’ museums, markets, and many restaurants/cafes close by. Rooms are cozy. We had a lovely view of canal. They offer a nice gathering spot with coffee, tea etc. No breakfast but a fridge and counter area in the room. Oh! Albert Heijn groceries nearby too.

The fridge in room did not work. I asked if we could leave food in a bag in the hotel fridge and they were happy to do so over our 3 night stay.
