Love this little boutique hotel, but be warned... no elevator and steep flights of narrow stairs. The staff were amazing though. Helped me with my suitcase every time. I stayed here about 20 years ago and it was lovely to return and see the changes. Historic property. Fantastic location.

It's Amsterdam and very few hotels have elevators. Ask for room on first floor if like me you have bad knees.

Hotel Amstelzicht is in a lovely position by the Amstel and room 207 had pretty views over the river. The hotel is one of Amsterdam’s centuries old architectural marvels with steep staircases (no lift). You may find tourists on the boat trips pause to take photos of the building! Our room was big enough for the six nights we spent in it and was close to all the tourist spots you might want to visit. The staff were friendly. Rembrandtplein is just around the corner with trams to take you to the station centraal. There is an Albert Hein supermarket not too far away - and a small fridge in the hotel room. The furnishings were a little tired but perhaps suited to the age of the building. We loved it!

The bathroom towels were rather worn and scratchy.

Beautiful, traditional property, situated on a canal. Rembrandt Square is located to the rear which has an array of restaurants/pubs. Close proximity to the centre and around 29 mins work to the museum quarter. We had a room with canal view which was very pretty, especially on an evening when it was dark and the skyline lit up with the various buildings and barges. The stairs within the hotel aren’t for the faint hearted but added to the properties quirk!

Not that we didn’t like anything but hadn’t realised there wasn’t a hotel bar or restaurant. Plenty of places in close proximity to visit though so not an issue!

Beautiful historic "dancing houses" landmark building in a great location. Staff was very friendly and professional. Facilities were clean and as described and the bed was comfortable.

Nothing that I didn't like. The stairs are very steep as it is a historical building from the 1600's. So it might be hard for someone with a disability or that has a hard time going up and down stairs. We navigated them to the 3rd floor just fine though.

The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly, from the moment we arrived. The location was perfect, offering a beautiful view that added to the overall experience. The hotel's rich history and unique character made it truly special, while the spacious room provided both comfort and relaxation.

The hotel was generally clean, although it could have been a bit more thorough in some areas. The reception was not open 24 hours, which caused some inconvenience during our stay. Additionally, the beds were quite narrow, making it a bit uncomfortable. The wardrobe was very small, and the stairs were difficult to navigate, whether with or without luggage. While the hotel had potential, these aspects could definitely be improved for a more pleasant experience.

Hotel Amstelzicht is a very old Dutch house and has the traditional staircase. To modern eyes the staircase is steep like a ladder. This adds to the charm of staying here. The staff are super friendly and helpful and have good advice. Due to the steepness of the stairs we were asked if we preferred ground floor or top floor - up 3 flights and we chose top floor. The room was a very spacious attic room with 3 lovely big double glazed windows facing Amstel canal. Great views and no noise. One window could be opened. The bathroom was spacious and very clean. We loved staying in an authentic place and so centrally located. The bed was comfortable and the whole experience was very positive.

For us everything was great. However if you find normal stairs difficult or you travel with a lot of luggage, then this place is not for you. You must be totally self sufficient- no lifts and no bell boys.

The location was fantastic. We had a beautiful room that overlooked the water. Just behind the line of buildings is the Rembrandt square with hustle and bustle of restaurants, quick bites, souvenirs and grab and gos. I loved the charm of the building and ease of access getting in and out with the keys. Our room had a TV, a fan, storage, on suite bathroom. I also liked having a mini bar option as well as being able to store my own water in the fridge. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Although the hotel backs up to many bars, the room was very quiet. I really liked this hotel.

The beds. I wanted to give this place the highest rating for an older hotel but the beds are unbelievably soft. When we sat on them, they sank down and it was very challenging to sleep. When I say soft, I mean worn in. The stairs are very steep so you have to be able to climb them well and carefully. Personally loved the stairs but felt it important to draw attention to these as they are very unique. Update the beds and this place is fantastic.

Location, location, location. The chance to stay in a historic row house was important to me and this definitely fit the bill. Very large and comfortable room for four of us. Blin Queen restaurant next door is great too, quaint, cute and delicious!

Being on the basement floor, we had to put toilet paper into the garbage can because the old plumbing can't handle bringing it up from that level. (This is not the case on the higher floors). Being a VERY old, historic and beautiful hotel, however, meant we didn't mind doing this. We were a group of four so had to have the larger room down there.

Location was perfect. Shops, restaurants and night life few minutes away. The triple room was spacious with a nice view over the river. The room looked the same as on the pictures.

Our room was on the 1st floor and there was a very steep stairs up to it, that was ok for us. It is a little noise in front of the hotel as there are pubs and very lively. It did not bother us, but you have the window closed in the nights at weekends, it is a dbl window so you dont hear much if the window is closed. I think the price for the room is rather expensive compared to what you get.

The building historic features were fabulous and the view from our room was superb! I would stay again just for the view. We were on the 2nd floor, room 207. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was brilliant!

There isn't a lift and when your on the upper floors and with the steepness of the stairs would have been nice if the staff offered to assist us getting up the stairs. I'm not complaining about there being no lift as the building is listed just lack of assistance. The rooms are looking very tired and need updating. Especially the furniture. Lights were very low voltage and so hard to see anything in the room. Some of the power points didn't work. Bits of plaster flaking off. Needs some TLC.
