Fast airport pick-up service. Great, friendly staff. Claude the cat is a highlight of our stay. Comfortable room and well serviced. Convenient location for our needs. Easy off street parking, and we never notice the main road noise as the rooms are up the back of the property. Laundry available to wash clothes.

Could use a little update to modernise the rooms but otherwise still comfortable.

Lovely and quiet but close to the airport. We got the free shuttle from the airport to the motel and then taken back to the airport the next day. All very prompt.

We chose this property because of the proximity to the airport for our first night so ticked all the boxes. It is in the suburbs so nothing to do within walking distance

Well located with respect to the Airport. A compact and functional room/bathroom that was clean and tidy.

Not an issue but the parking was a little confusing with another can parked directly outside our room. Hence we parked outside someone else's. Perhaps some indication of which spot goes with each room would be helpful.

Close to Airport.

The airport shuttle only starts at 9am so therefore no use if your flight is in the morning. I felt this should have been noted in the information. We had to catch a taxi and would have stayed at another hotel close to the airport that provided a better shuttle service. Also very limited in food options close by.

I always receive a warm welcome from folks here. Frank collected me from the airport and offered to let me use the room to get changed, even I was early and it wasn’t ready. All the staff are friendly and nothing is too much trouble.

The rooms are a bit tired and the facilities are basic.

The room was clean and spacious. The motel was quiet and the unit comfortable. Parking right outside. Close to the airport and Southern SH1.

Room service had not been finished before arrival. The rubbish bin had not been emptied from previous guests and there was no towel or dishcloth and a few other items that would normally be completed before the next guests. Minor irritations only. The unit was still clean, and we had clean linen.

We came off long flights from Canada and just needed a bed . Birches was quick and easy to find from Christchurch airport. The room was clean, comfortable and bedding was warm and cozy. We only used the kettle, coffee pot and microwave but could have cooked a meal on the hot plate. The kitchenette was well equipped for that. I really appreciated that there was a choice of flat or fat pillows. There was a lockbox for our room key when we arrived and my husband had a pleasant chat with the manager in the morning. There were beautiful flowers on the ground-lovely when you are a winter escapee.

We had a late arrival and the light was on so felt welcoming. We had been left the breakfasts and milk to make a cuppa which hubby appreciated. I had my glass of juice before bed instead and we were given a ride back to the airport. A great stay, will go again.

Everything about Airport Birches was great. Close to the airport, clean, comfortable and well equipped accommodation. But the real asset is the staff, all of whom were friendly and amenable. A special mention for Brian who was managing the place in the absence of the owners. He was extremely helpful, friendly, attentive and accommodating about everything we needed, be it an earlier check in, advice on where to get food/supplies near to the motel or dropping us off at our car rental depot at the end of our stay. Highly recommended and we will, indeed, be back!

Bring your own shampoo if you want to shower. The body wash and shampoo provided is awful, like dish wash in your hair. Everything else was great
