With all the traveling my wife and I have done over the years, booking a room at Matakan Motel has been the best experience we have had. Receptionist/Manager was very bubbly and made us feel welcomed.The room was immaculate, the bed was so comfortable, housekeeping was very professional and we will definitely recommend the motel to all friends and family. The staff were really friendly

So handy to the township. Very helpful staff. We had a problem with a unit with upstairs bedrooms and downstairs bathroom. They went out of their way to help us into a single level unit. Nice and quiet units.

Kitchen area quite small. But guessing we were 4 people and if only 2 or 3 people would have been fine. A couple more towel rails in the bathroom would be good and a bedside lamp in the 2nd bedroom would have been good.

Modern, clean, well equipped and comfortable. Nicely maintained outside areas. Spacious unit, en suite and shower. Deck. Communal bbq. Excellent value. Lovely crew. Close to village centre for amenities. TripAdvisor Torbayaotearoa.

Constructive feedback, well received, was that as there are communal bbq facilities it would be useful to have a bistro table on the private deck for alfresco dining. What's the point of taking food indoors to eat?

A very stylish apartment kitted out with all essential facilities and a lovely comfotable bed! Great to have a good laundry in the motel. There was a swimming pool and barbecue if you chose to use them. There were plenty of parking spaces! It was located very close to the town centre with it's very good shops, including an excellent chocolatier, bars, eateries, and a wonderful brewery.

We enjoyed our short overnight stay at Matakana Motel. Everything we needed was available. The proximity to the shops and cafes was great. The night was wet and cold but we were only a short walk away to getting meals etc. The only thing I was confused about was we didn't get the room that was pictured on line when I booked. I bought this to the attention of the people at the office and they were as confused as I was.

A very clean modern motel, close to town, eating places and the movies. Staff very friendly aswell. Great pool. Heaps of parking.

Only down fall was no pool towels available so were given 2 room towels for 5 people to use. Would encourage owner to Invest in more pool towels especially in the summer time. Stayed there for 3 nights and was told clean pool towels wouldn't be coming till the day we checked out. Other than that would still recommend this place to people.

We loved our stay at this motel. We loved the location, so easy to find and easy to just stroll into town. The room was so clean and the staff were very friendly and welcoming, and Bianca was so helpful with tips on restaurants and things to do in the area. We highly recommend this motel and would definitely stay again.

The only little thing we picked up on, was we thought the soundproofing between rooms could have been better, we could hear our neighbours between the walls sometimes, so made us quite conscious about noise from our side and the volume of our TV especially late at night, but other than that it was great.

Close proximity to town, pool, bbq, value for money

Some of the furnishings were looking a bit tired and could do with refreshing or removing I.e. the faded bed decorations. There was a broken sun lounger in the pool area also. These are very minor things of course and didn't impact on the comfort of our stay.

Located away from road minimal traffic noise. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. All staff friendly and helpful. The village was quick and easily accessed on foot. Having an individual verandah attached to sit outside each unit. Unfortunately for non smokers like ourselves guests could use their verandah for smoking.

As nice as it was to have the verandah for each unit, smokers were allowed to use that area for smoking. This would then filter to your room when you had the windows or sliding door opened. No screens to keep the insects out when windows/sliding door opened. On our visit we had booked and paid for a unit with a spa bath, which hadn’t worked for a while.

Fantastic proximity to Matakana Village with alley way access short cut, yet tucked quietly away from the main road and busy shopping area. Rooms are extremely well appointed with everything you need, and by far the cleanest motel we have stayed at in a while. Easy going and welcoming hosts, we will definitely be back to stay again. Added bonus is the lovely swimming pool and BBQ area - if only we had packed our swimming trunks!

My only problem was not being able to stay longer!
