Beautiful setting with lovely views. We particularly enjoyed the privacy and views from the Korimako Room. Great discount on bookin.com. Fabulous hot shower with great water pressure and plenty of soft towels. Lovely clean bed with spotless covers and plenty of pillows. Super friendly and helpful staff throughout the resort.

The room was a bit cold and electric blanket on bed might be nice in the shoulder season. Also a bit light on the coffee supplies but the very helpful reception staff quickly provided more with a smile thank you.

Views incredible but always weather dependent as to how much you can do in these remote areas. Bed soft, so not good for my back unfortunately, but nothing new for most resorts. Meals were amazing, but need to update website, am sure I read breakfast was $35 but actually off a menu, so not a buffet as I presumed. Room service was unpredictable, clean towels daily, but bed made only once out of five nights, tea & coffee not replenished. No TV and wifi is very hit/miss.

I really like how genuinely nice all the staffs are. They’re all so friendly and approachable. I also liked our cabin room, it was very spacious and comfortable.

There is nothing to not like.

The location is stunning. The main hotel facilities are modern and stylish. We especially liked the restaurant which was lovely, with great food and service.

The staff were great and seemed very efficient but we got the impression that the hotel was a bit short staffed on the day we were there. We had a wait to get into our room even though it was 3pm and past check in time. We also had quite a long wait for our evening meal to be cooked, though it was really lovely when it did arrive.

Stunning location - so beautiful! Amazing staff who, without exception, go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Everyone, from reception and wait staff, to cleaners greeted us warmly. Lovely porter who collected us from Tōrea off the water taxi and was so kind when he dropped us at the start of the track and the next day, making sure we were ok and knew where we were heading. Food was delicious - lamb croquettes at dinner were outstanding! Our Koromiko Sunroom was exactly that - filled with light and a wonderful view. Comfortable beds and a spacious bathroom. Great swimming from the beach right in front of the resort. We could not fault the Portage and only wished we’d stayed longer than the one night.

The room we got after we complained about our first room was large and comfortable with a lovely deck and comfortable bed. Restaurant was good.

The first room we got was poorly maintained and frankly a bit gross. After we complained we were given a room in a different section of the hotel. This room was much better - no complaints. I was surprised at the poor quality of the first room, especially given the cost of this lodge. I would hardly call it a "resort." We were walking the Queen Charlotte Track, and for those doing this you should know that you have to walk about 1 km off the track to get to it. There are not a lot of other options in this section of the track, so that's not necessarily a reason not to stay here. I just didn't expect the extra walking in the middle of two quite long days.

Each room had a view with that also provided privacy from Neighbour's when sitting outside. The staff were brilliant, always attentive and happy, food was healthy, well presented and delicious. Being surrounded by nature created a relaxing environment, plenty of birdsong and free and easy access to the sea for swimming and the hills for exercise.

The only thing that needs improvement in my view would be the water pressure for showering which was hard to enjoy as you needed to move around so much to get wet then clean. A larger library for reading would be a good idea.

Quietly beautiful setting and a really nice vibe among the staff. Excellent service at reception and in the bar and restaurant. My room was large, sunny and well designed with a balcony facing the bay, privacy protected so I could safely leave the doors wide open and enjoy the fresh air day and night.

I found the menu limited. Because of the remote location there are no other options.

Absolutely loved it here - after 2 days of running the Queen Charlotte Track, this was a great place to stay and my favourite hotel on the track. The room I ended up staying in had a balcony and was very cosy, the location was beautiful, and the staff were great. Even without them getting my Kindle back to me, I'd have rated them a 10. Really enjoyed my stay here. Thank you!

I have stayed here previously and my memory of the property was that it was a bit run down. Well, not any more! They’ve really spruced it up post Covid and it’s looking great. Lovely outlook, quiet and peaceful and really helpful staff. I appreciated the ease of getting some ice for my sore knee (after walking 24kms!) and being driven up the road in the morning to the start of the track. Excellent dinner. Lots of amenities - loved having a coffee machine in the room! Would’ve loved to have had a longer stay.

If I had to pick something….bathroom was only been superficially ‘renovated’ and was a bit drab.
