- The Villa feels like crashing at a friend's place, where you get the best possible. - The house is not one of the newest buildings, but it's fairly well maintained, with areas for everyone's needs. - The facilities are clean and convenient and the backyard is very nice to hang out or relax after exploring during the day. - I didn't use the jacuzzi, but it looked great.

- Not a negative note about the hostel itself, but you need a car to get the best experience in the area. Picton is not the best location for it. Despite that, this is possibly the best budget option to stay and see beautiful Marlborough.

I checked in. Friendly receptionist. She said I booked a mixed dorm and would I like a female one. Took this as a subtle hint so accepted. First place in aus/nz they haven’t taken any form of id which was a little concerning. There’s a lot of negative reviews on here. My 6 bed room was in the main building. It was super spacious and only half full in October. It was clean as far as hostels go. The outdoor area was cute and I didn’t use the kitchen but looked fine. Are the bathrooms dated - yes. But the showers hot and it does the job. And it’s pretty clean. Location is perfect. Giving it 5 stars for a backpackers hostel (obviously not intended for luxury living)

Very lovely hostel in the centre of Picton. Good facilities, welcoming staff. Good location to all sights. Nice double room. Provided breakfast in the morning (just toast and marmalade). Picton village bakery next door is just AMAZING.

There is only a few spaces to park on the driveway so can’t guarantee that they will be there. We parked about 1 min away opposite the local bakery which was £4 for the 24 hours and was very secure. The parking opposite the hostel is free for 60 mins and then you pay per 20 mins so that was not feasibleZ

Enjoyed myself alot .Great breakaway from the busy cities .Absolutely stunning location 👌 by the water and the sounds 💧. Great connections with other travelers .loved the hottibe after a long day on the feet .Enjoyed a fire under the stars and seen a shooting star . A great start for the south island 🏝. Bed was uncomfortable, but I asked for a thick blanket, and the staff was very helpful and gave me a blanket for extra comfort .

The Villa is a charming and quirky place to stay. Rooms are comfortable, lovely lounge space, kitchen and dining area. Lovely hot showers. Spa is a bonus. Location excellent for ferries, local eateries and tour companies. Lots of outdoor areas to chill out in.

Loved staying there. One suggestion would be designated smoking area away from outside dorms so you can have doors open without smoke coming in.

It is a beautiful place. Very close to the ferry terminal. The room and bedding were clean and fresh. The toilets and shower areas were enough and clean. They also have laundry options available. Kitchen fecility with all utencils and everything was clean. Sitting areas indoors and outdoors were amazing. View form the Villa is beautiful. I enjoyed the sunset behind the hills. I also walked around, there are many restaurants nearby and a grocery store is on 4 to 5-minute walk. I am very happy with my stay there. That became my must to stay place for my future visits to Picton. It exceeded the value of money. Overall I liked it. I am pretty impressed with the service and highly recommend the place.

It is a very nice house, has a very cosy feel and was very clean! Walkable distance from the ferry :) The hostel was almost empty, which can be a good thing depending on what you're looking for :)

The downside was that I went in low season (October) by ferry to go to Blenheim for a wine tasting, but there're not many ways to go to Blenheim and there weren't many wine tours that would pick you up from Picton, so have that in consideration.

Room was comfy and had enough space. The facilities were good in communal areas; big enough kitchen with fridge, kettle, living room had a fire in and comfy sofas. Heating worked well. The dining room enabled for guests to be sociable as well. Overall, this hostel had a friendly atmosphere and had everything I needed. I'd recommend staying in a room inside the main building, as the bathrooms are inside; guests staying in other rooms had to walk from their room outside to the main building inside to access bathroom facilities.

Nothing - I enjoyed my stay here. Picton is quite weather dependent activities-wise, so maybe check the weather before you stay here for more than 1 night.

nice affordable space that was pets okay. nice sized kitchen, enertainment was good, pool tables lounge etc.

tv in the room would habe been nice as there was nothing to do it the room other than sleep. small table to sit would of been great. beds were awful though sunk right into and my friend had back problems so wasn't very nice for him

Centrally located. Only a couple minutes walk from the Intercity bus stop & I-SITE centre. Property is on a minutes walk to all the shops/cafes & beaches. Lots of parking outside. Has a nice outdoor area, plenty of toilets & showers. Nice seating area on the outside decking. Has 2 kitchens too. Staff are nice & friendly.

WiFi didn’t always work. Beds had only 1 step to get to the top and if you moved the whole bed shook.
