Great setting, lots of activities possible, good restaurant and great bar with pool, shuffleboard, darts ++. The old part of the hotel (the refurbished original manor) has real charm and feel.

The rooms are a bit worn and paint is coming off here and there. I think there's a renovation planned, which would turn the hotel from good to great!

A very comfortable feel about the whole place. Located 25 minutes from Oslo centre surrounded by the golf coarse. Breakfast was a delight, the best on our trip.

It’s quirky, beautifully historic in part, has a great bar, friendly enough staff, extensive grounds, has plenty of free parking, has rituals toiletries and is 20minutes from the centre of Oslo.

The rooms felt a bit dated and untidy. We paid for a balcony room, unnecessarily so, and we were over looking a car park (although we were warned at the time of booking this could be the case) and didn’t use it. Dead bug remnants stained the ceiling, the grout in the shower was filthy, (and the bathroom if the toilet seat was left up) just smelt like a urinal constantly. The dinner was passable but a bit too try hard. I had the rib of lamb and it disintegrated in my mouth like wet cardboard which I couldn’t eat sadly and the ratatouille was swimming in a ring of balsamic glaze which overpowered everything. The cooked breakfast wasn’t great, most of it was so dried out.

The location is stunning, and the building is very beautiful. In the communal areas of the hotel, there is a plethora of antiquitied decor and furniture around the building. This lends an opulent and historical edge to an already interesting place. The bed is extremely comfortable with more pillows than you could possibly need. There is a balcony which is adjacent to 2 other balconies. TV allows you to connect to YouTube, Netflix, Spotify, HBO Max, and ViaPlay, as well as offering television. The 2nd floor dining and living space in the Deluxe Suite is very spacious, including a 2nd balcony. We preferred this one because it was on its own at the top of the building, allowing us privacy. The restaurant dinner service was attentive, and the food was reasonable. Many great places to go walking in the scenic area. If you want a short walk, I recommend heading south to Mønevann and the watermill only 2km away. We left for a Sunday walk, suddenly a rainstorm came out of nowhere. The hotel day manager chased us with a pair of umbrellas. I wish I knew his name (he worked the Saturday and Sunday) because he was the stand-out member of staff with a level of professionalism that transcended all others that we encountered.

We were unaware that most of the premises would be closed for a private wedding, meaning that we were confined to the accommodation area on Saturday. The staff seemed aware of this inconvenience and encouraged us to go for a walk or head to Lillestrøm (our intention was a countryside getaway, so while we had fun there in the city, it was not why we booked this place). It felt like we were being politely chased out of the building shortly after arriving! There were broken blinds in the 2nd floor area, and there was no minibar as stated in the room description on Booking.com. This was a shame because we brought some drinks and picnic supplies along with us that would have been much nicer chilled! The atmosphere in the main restaurant there was deader than anything I have experienced, with all tables reduced to stifled whispers as though there was a rule against conversation. Breakfast served in room (300 Kr per person) on Sunday, and leftovers were still there on Monday morning, rendering the dining table useless. We were unexpectedly informed on Sunday that there will be no dinner service and we should order a pizza. It was kind of them to visit the room to let us know, but a purported 5 star hotel should not be relying on local takeaways to take care of it's guests. Most of the staff seemed to disappear after breakfast, so we imagined that we were the only guests left and they sent them home. Jacuzzi was unable to drain because the plug was stuck, and we were unable to use it. There were clear signs that this had happened before, with what looked like tool scratches from people trying to jack it open. This was one of the reasons we selected this premium room type, so there was a significant disappointment. We only reported this on check out because we could not find anyone on Sunday (also, when the pizza arrived, the delivery guy couldn't find anyone to drop it off with).
