Pros: The hotel room is very attractive; staff are very helpful; the breakfast is fantastic; and we had a delicious dinner at the hotel's Italian restaurant. The location is reasonably convenient for most activities--about a 15 minute walk from the Ferry/Aker Brygge/ Nobel Peace Center area.

Cons: While we enjoyed our stay, there were a few things we didn't like. The bathroom was very large and attractive, but strangely designed--the sink area was the size of one in a ship's cabin and there was almost nowhere to put our stuff, the sink itself was about two or three inches deep, and there were no hooks anywhere. Please add hooks for hand towels near the sink, at the very least! Also, there are a bunch of bars directly across from the hotel, and there was a LOT of noise coming from the bars until very late at night even on weeknights. We were on the top floor and it was still extremely loud. The cleaners made the bed every day, but didn't hang, straighten, or replace the towels--just left them wet and crumbled.

The staff members of the hotel were very helpful. The breakfast buffet was amazing. That was definitely one of the best we’ve ever had in a hotel.

It was very cold, temperature wise, in general in the hotel and in the room. We couldn’t adjust the temperature to our comfort, although maintenance did look after the problem. Other than that, everything was great.

Great location. It was quiet and within walking distance to everything we wanted to visit for just a couple of days in Oslo. The hotel is also very close to public transport for trams, trains, getting to and from airport and central station. Our room wasn’t huge, but plenty big enough, with high quality facilities and furnishings, and out-of-the-ordinary and interesting decor and design. Processes for check-in and -out were simple and smooth,and staff were very helpful and straightforward. Everything we needed for a short stay.

It was a pity that we needed to catch an early flight out of Oslo, and we missed the hotel breakfast we had paid for. A bar would be nice, but there are also plenty of options very close to the hotel.

Good location, friendly and helpful staff, Oslo’s best breakfast definitely lived up to the title.

The TV didn’t work the first day and the shower was flooding the whole bathroom, we reported it and were advised that they would look at it whilst we were out for the day, however it wasn’t as they only have one janitor and he was day off, the same happened the next day as he was off sick, I fixed it myself in the end. I can’t fault the staff they were very attentive and it’s not their fault the hotel only has one person to deal with repairs.

Location was perfect, breakfast is fabulous like advertised (lots of choice with incredibly flavourful options. They take real care to provide a top service), staff were friendly and helpful. The bathroom was also excellent: a non-leaky shower is a dream. Coffee/tea provision was plentiful - a kettle and a nespresso machine which is a rarity these days!

The only complaint is the pillows on the bed - they were feather and INCREDIBLY flat. This made sleep difficult (but I know we are fussy sleepers so in a lot of ways this cannot be helped.).

Such a wonderful hotel in a great location with friendly staff. Breakfast was plentiful with loads of choices with fresh ingredients. We arrived early at the hotel just to drop our bags and was surprised when they said they had rooms available, so we were able to check-in early and explore Oslo. The hotel reception provided reccomendations on places to visit and see, along with resturant reccomendations for dinner, which we followed and were excellent. Room is spacious enough with all the amentities one would need, along with being clean and comfortable.

Can't fault the hotel at all, so nothing.

We stayed at 15 hotels over 19 days of travel. The Thon Rosenkrantz was our final stop and was the best of the trip. Room was efficient and well appointed. Breakfast was the best on the trip. Staff was exceptionally helpful - pointing out local restaurants and connections to busses, etc. They checked us in early, were 100% friendly and all seemed genuinely happy to have us staying in their hotel. The restaurant had excellent Italian food for dinner - try the eggplant with prosciutto. Persian restaurant is only 5 minute walk away - great food and friendly service.

Restaurant was not open on Sunday and Monday - would have liked to try it on those days, but found great food nearby.

Wow! How nice to be greeted by two welcoming and knowledgeable young men who facilitated our check-in and enlightened us as to the services of the hotel. Our room was incredibly comfortable with great attention paid to travelers’ needs in mind. Towels and other amenities such as electrical outlets and hanging space were plentiful. The bed was extremely comfortable as was the temperature of the room, and a mini-fridge and complimentary sparkling water were a bonus. I’ll save the best for last…BREAKFAST BUFFET! Oh,my! The quantity,quality, and variety of food was staggering, and the presentation was absolutely inspired. Such a feast prepared us to visit the many places of interest within walking distance or easily accessible by tram. I would love to stay here again.

EXCELLENT and diverse choices. Food was very good, hot and cooked prefectly.

We purchased a bottle of wine at the State Liquor store and I was drinking a glass in the lounge near our room. An employee came in and told me I could not drink it there and wanted to take it away from me! She was polite (and, I guess in a difficult position).....I thanked her, left and finished my glass of wine in my room. If there is some rule, visitors should be informed.
