The location is superb. We found everything was in walking distance. That includes some major attractions such as parks and the pier, and also all sorts of shops and a large transportation hub underground. It was super easy to reach from the airport, or get out of the city for hiking. The hotel itself was wonderful. I found the little wall separating the room in two an especially nice planning design touch: the sitting side and the sleeping side. The little kitchenette was useful too. The hotel's breakfast was just like my friends who recommended it described, plentiful and full of both standard and local options. Finally, the staff was able to help us with all our needs at all times.

The driers in the washing machine room were down during our stay. They were displaying some sort of communications error, even though their status was displayed as online on the control terminal. The staff informed us they were aware and that regrettably, the technicians would only come to fix the machines a week after our stay. The hotel should consider a washing machine vendor who can maintain their stuff properly and timely during season.

The hotel has a great location, making it easy to get around the city. Breakfasts were tasty and varied, and the staff was consistently friendly and helpful. One pleasant surprise was the small kitchenette in the room, complete with a stove, microwave, and a full set of tableware - a great touch that exceeded our expectations.

On the downside, there are only two small elevators for such a large hotel, which often led to long wait times or taking the stairs. Additionally, the bathroom was very cramped and not particularly comfortable.

We booked the "business room" which included a kitchenette and stayed for 9 nights. We eat a 100% plant-based diet and cook all of our own food, even when we travel. We found the room clean and comfortable. The bathroom was small but functional, with a shower. The kitchen was a 4-burner induction stovetop, microwave, sink, electric teapot, plus a coffee maker, and nice-sized fridge for a hotel. There was also a set of dishes, pots, pans, cutting board, etc, but no "cereal" bowls. We asked the front desk for bowls and they practically ran to get them for us. Everyone was so pleasant. There were plenty of Schuko outlets, some USB ports in the desk, and a safe for our valuables.

We were a little surprised that the room didn't come equipped with a clock, but that may be normal for a hotel room in Norway? Not really a dislike, just an observation.

We were so blessed to stay in this wonderful hotel. The personal are friendly and helpful. The interior has bright colors, which make your stay even more positive. My daughter and me got a room on the first floor, which is very convenient. We liked that you can open the window and get fresh air come into your room. The bed, pillows and blankets are incredibly soft, like a cloud. We had such a nice rest and sleep. The shower system is very convenient. There is a good pressure, stable temperature, which you can easily regulate. They really make sure you have fresh towels every day. The location of this hotel is a huge plus. It's close to the train station, trams and buses. Also you can easily walk to the main attractions. It is quiet and safe. We enjoyed a beautiful park right in front of the hotel. One of the best things that this hotel provides a fantastic breakfast. There are huge amount of different good quality food. It can fill you up for the whole day. In addition to everything above, the hotel has a nice gym, locker, iron and a mini fridge. Overall, you get so much for the money you pay, that you will feel very pleased. We felt safe, comfortable and happy in this place.

It didn't matter much to me, but the room was missing a deep cleaning (walls in the bathroom, curtains, doors). And we also found a black hair on our pillow upon arrival. I wish the mini fridge would have cooler temperature inside. And the blow dryer was constantly got overheated and turned off. But those small things didn't change our opinion about the hotel. Nothing is absolutely perfect. We are still grateful for an opportunity to stay in this beautiful city and a wonderful hotel.

Great location just next to the royal palace and walking distance to many attractions, shop, restaurants and supermarkets in Oslo. I walked and visited all the tourist attractions in Oslo, did not take any transportation in the city. The staff at check in was nice, check in was very fast. The buffet breakfast was excellent with extensive selections of many kind of items. Room & bathroom were very clean, comfortable and good size.

The room heater and tv was not working in the first room they gave me and after the front desk staff came to check and agreed that the heater & tv was not working, they changed my room.

This is a very comfortable hotel in an excellent location, about a 10-15 walk from the central train station, right next to the palace, and just a couple of blocks from the University of Oslo. The buffet breakfasts and coffee are absolutely wonderful (much, much better than breakfasts in American hotels at the same price point). There are Nespresso machines in the room. I stayed 4 nights and was given an upgraded room, which I appreciated. As everywhere in the service industry in Norway, the staff at the front desk speak excellent English, and many of the staff in the breakfast room did too. [Note: this review is for the Thon Hotel Slottsparken. Thon hotels are different, and the Thon airport hotel, for example, is not as nice as the Slottsparken.]

The elevators are tiny, but this is a tiny quibble. (This is an older building and I'm sure it's difficult to retrofit.)

We had a lovely double bedroom apartment, which was spacious. The only thing that I didn't like, and is found in most big hotels, is the fan blowing air into the room. It was quite noisy, so even though when the thick windows were shut, they protected from the noise outside, there was noise inside. My boyfriend didn't mind it. He said it was white noise he could sleep with. The staff was great. They coped well with the breakfast rush. I found it interesting and funny how the guests behave at breakfast. There was an air of competition and rush as if the food was about to run out any second when in reality there was always so plenty that there was no way anyone could go lacking.

I stayed at Thon Hotel Slottsparken for two nights, and while it didn’t exactly blow me away, it’s a perfectly decent place to stay. The staff at check-in were friendly, though a bit on the quiet side—they could’ve given me a bit more of a tour of the place, but I had to ask about the facilities myself, like a bit of a treasure hunt. The hotel isn’t what you’d call “luxury,” but it’s functional. The carpets in the common areas were a bit “well-loved,” but it didn’t bother me much. The room felt a bit cold and bare at first, and getting to it was like a mini expedition through the building. But once I settled in, it was comfortable enough. The bed and pillows were absolute winners—solid 10/10 for sleep comfort. Breakfast was simple but tasty. The freshly baked bread and batter were the stars of the show—honestly, I haven’t had anything like it in ages. The coffee was good, and there were fresh juices available too. The chef was cracking jokes with customers, and the new waiter was friendly, though a bit green. A few more options on the hot counter would’ve been nice, though. One odd thing—housekeeping changed the bin but didn’t bother with the towels. No biggie, but I thought a quick towel swap wouldn’t hurt. Also, I couldn’t help but wonder why the pillowcases and duvet covers were all turned around face down—was it some kind of secret hotel ritual? Check-in and check-out were smooth, and the location is spot on—about 20 minutes from the central station and just a short walk to a station with a direct link to Oslo Airport. Overall, if you’re after a comfortable, no-frills stay, Thon Hotel Slottsparken fits the bill. Not luxury, but for the price, it’s definitely worth considering—and who knows, you might even get a joke or two from the chef!

Staff- very pleasant and unobtrusive. Breakfast- excellent with enough choice for all. Location - handy for bus and tram stops. Very close to the city's 'West End' area for shopping, cafes and restaurants. Price- very reasonable indeed. More bang for your Buck than in the Sentrum location.

Our room (8th Floor) was big & spacious. Could not make any use of the balcony as the door handle was broken and/or removed. Had it been the height of summer might have been a major issue. Rooms are however pretty varied in size for same/similar price.

The location was so good because of the lovely park and the hotel was central but quiet. Unfortunately there was building wok across the road but the double glazing helped as does the fact we stayed 4 nights 2 of which were at the weekend when no work was being done.
