I really enjoyed my stay at By Doors Hostel. The staff were super friendly and helpful, making check-in smooth and giving great local tips. The place has a cozy, homey vibe with stylish decor and a clean, well-kept environment. The location is perfect—within walking distance to all the main spots in Porto, but still tucked away enough to feel quiet and relaxed. The common areas are great for meeting other travelers, and the small touches like fresh coffee and comfy beds really made a difference. Would definitely stay again!

The only downside was that the rooms could get a bit warm at night, especially if the windows were closed. Also, while the shared bathrooms were generally clean, they could get a little busy during peak times. Nothing major, but just something to keep in mind.

The staff I met was really nice and kind to me. He’s English isn’t the best but he tried his best to communicate to my understanding. He offered to help me take my pictures and even found the best spot in the hostel for me to do so. The place is very neat. No fowl smell whatsoever. The accommodation is also very accessible to many tourists sights. More like 45mins walk + train to interesting locations like the Praia de Matosinhos Beach and even 11mins walk to Botânico de Porto. I really liked this place and will definitely book it again if need be.

Maybe the fact that the WiFi network wasn’t stable. Haha! For me it was really an issue because I had mobile data.

Super cheap and close to the yoga studio I needed to be at. Close to supermarkets as well (Pingo Doce, Lidl, My Auchan). Good food court nearby (Mercado Bom Successo) if you don't want to go all the way into town for lots of options. Staff were friendly

The lockers were small compared to other hostels I've been in, my backpack didn't fit so I had to put it unlocked under the bed. We ran out of toilet paper a couple of times and had to ask at reception. An your or so walk into town, or half an hour by public transport. Don't trust the buses they're never on time

The four bed female dorm has its own full washroom which was very convenient and nice not having to leave the room to shower. The lockers in the room have enough room to store your bags. The bed was comfortable and pillows not too bad! The terrace outside is adorable and has a lemon tree. The reception staff was extremely kind and recommended places for us to go. There are also pamphlets that point towards resources in the area, such as where to access NA meetings/counselling services, local businesses etc.

The extra comforter in the room had a weird smell to it. And, around 2300 one of the male hostel staff came into our female dorm to show a guest to their room, which took me by surprise. I think next time it would be better for the male staff not to come into the room or at least knock before doing so.

The hostel staff is very kind, I was impressed by the two kitchens with a view on the garden and the terrace ideal for outdoor breakfasts. The location is very affordable - close to the music center, botanical garden, live jazz venue and, of course, 5 min to Lidl ;). Very good district, calm even at night. I would recommend it to anyone.

Nothing but Porto is definitely a city that requires good sports shoes for walking or moving around with a car / bus.

Small room but cozy, with complete bathroom which you share with 4 people maximum. Two outlets, personal bed light and little shelf for your personal stuff or to place your phone when you charge it while you sleep. Personal lockers with provided key. Helpful and very friendly staff. Nicely decorated patio where you can hang out and socialize with guests, eat something, etc.

Kitchen can be better equipped. No obvious place where to store food apart from the fridges, though you get some cupboard space after asking staff. The piano they show in the pictures does not work, it's just decoration and that was a bit heartbreaking.

The people and staff were fantastic. There were two different kitchens, and food was allowed to be left for others to use, which fosters an environment of sharing. The patio and the rooms and bathrooms were wonderful.

I wish the bedroom doors had had locks on them, and that the women’s room was not right as you walked in on the first floor, simply for safety reasons. However, there was no need to feel unsafe and keys for lockers were provided.

The two women receptionists and the two men that maintain the rooms were all friendly doing an excellent job making sure everyone was comfortable and secure. They tried hard to communicate with all the various languages represented there and we’re extremely helpful.

If driving, you need to pay parking Monday through Saturday near the property.

I stayed at the motel for 2 weeks and for the price the experience was perfect! All the staff are friendly, polite and very helpful with city recommendations or just for a chat. The room and common area are also kept very clean, and there is a cool, colorful lounge area outside. The location of the motel is very easy to find from Casa da Música - straight down Avenue da Boavista where there are ATMs and bus stations. Around the motel there is a grocery store LIDL and all kinds of parks.

The location was ok for us, there are buses and the metro station not far from the hostel. Stuff very friendly!

The room was very small and it was very difficult for 2 people to navigate. The towels seemed clean but were very stained and the carpet on the bathroom floor was a bit dirty.
