Nice place with paid onsite parking and a kitchenette. The owner was very respectful of our religious requirements for our Sabbath providing us with physical keys to over ride the electronic locks and turning off the sensor lights for the 25 hour period. Otherwise he wasn't very responsive though.

Coffee machine without any coffee pods supplied. One sachet of tea and one of coffee per person provided for the entire stay, but plenty of sugar. Even though the beds are made daily no extra tea or coffee, or any other service is given.

Location is great for accessing metro for both city center and the airport. Check-in instruction is clear, with possibility to leave luggage before/after stay.

Nothing about the hotel. Note that the sidewalk from metro station to the house is paved with little uneven tiles, which is quite hard for rolling the luggage.

Really convenient location - it’s in the centre, and just 15-20 minutes away from the airport depending on the traffic. The fact that there is parking (for 4 cars) is really nice - otherwise we would have had issues considering that there were roadworks outside when we arrived. Apartment we got wasn’t noisy at all and beds were comfortable enough. We had everything we needed. Not brand new or impressive, but defines good enough for most people.

We were allowed to check in around 50 minutes after the advertised time since the cleaning wasn’t done. So we actually sat there in the lobby for so long after even longer drive from Douro Valley. And the AC in the bedroom was very noisy, so we had to sleep without using it.

Atmospheric tenement house. We felt like we were in a house run by a mysterious poltergeist. That's the type of mood. It fits Porto very well. We really liked the simply furnished room. And the very high ceilings, which gave it even more space. Comfortable balcony, which was always cooler than the street. Bathroom slightly below standard. Comfortable parking space is at the back of the garden. The metro station is quite a walk away and it's probably better to use buses. The stop is right in front of the building. We rested comfortably there, after a whole day of walking around Porto. It was nice.

When standing outside on the street looking at the old building and iron gates we were quite apprehensive but as soon as we entered the gate code and door code we were mightily relieved. The inside our room was very modern (rm102) and fitted out with disabled access. Bathroom had everything. Tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge were also in the room. There was a small terrace which opened onto a lovely garden.

The shared kitchen was rather spartan, a microwave, double hotplate and toaster, but no conventional oven.

we were 2 couples that spent a week here and we loved everything about the place. Even if it had some small issues, we just thought that the overall impression was so good that it was nothing to even mention. I am not going to lie, because some people will say that it is maybe a little dated, but we had absolutely everything we needed and loved the atmosphere about the place. It was really quiet at night and our rooms faced a beautiful garden, where we enjoyed sitting out as often as weather permitted. We felt safe and relaxed in Koolhouse and it was really worth the money. The bus stop is literally in front of the main entrance and many buses takes you into town. i recommend also taking 502 across the road the opposite direction to the coast and Matoshinhos where you will find an awful lot of excellent fish restaurants. Even though they don,t clean on a daily basis, they come every day and empties your garbage, make sure you have toiletpapers and toiletries, change your towels (if you leave them on the floor) etc. Thank you Koolhouse for a great stay! The check in was easy, we had no contact with the staff, and yet the instructions received by e-mail were enough for us to check in. The room was large and clean. We could park the car in the garden. It was safe: there is first a gate which is locked, and the front door is locked as well. It was easy to get in, by using the entry codes. There is a nice garden, but we didn't use it.

You need your mobile phone for the check in (and internet connection, of course), in order to receive the check in instructions and the entry codes. The location is not so close to the center, but we used the uber, which was not expensive in Porto, and it was fine.

The room is very spacious with lots of facilities. We stayed here for 4 nights and we really enjoyed it. The room is very clean, they have cleaners to come everyday to make sure our environment is always clean. For our room we have access to a lovely garden. The location is at a pretty nice neighborhood, you can get access to some popular bus routes pretty easily. However it's hard to get a hold of the frequencies of buses in Porto, so probably subway is still a better and more reliable public transportation. You need around 10 minutes to walk to the nearest subway station.

We tried to understand the public transportation system around the venue by sending messages to the management team but we never got a feedback. I understand they might be busy sometimes, but if they claimed they are happy to answer any questions and they would be always there to help their customers, they should have delivered what they promised. I think it's better the management team directly tell people we won't answer your questions so please just google everything by yourself.

The small fridge had been switched off for a while and was mouldy inside. And an annoying detail: It said coffee and tea available which was technically true: One coffee and one tea. At least two of each or none at all.

My experience at Koolhouse Porto was extraordinary! The location is great, just a walking distance from casa da música, rotunda da Boavista e do mercado do bom sucesso. It's a beautifully renovated charming house, with a lovely garden. We got a very comfortable room with king size bed, 2 bathrooms and a living room with some catering facilities. It also had exterior space with table and chairs and beautiful views for the garden. All was clean and tidy. The communication with the hostess was professional and the check in was easy. I strongly recommend staying at the Koolhouse!
