Firstly, the location cannot be better than this! A great location surrounded by restaurants, bars, and shops. The hotel makes you feel like you are in a good place. A lot of attention to small details makes your stay pleasant. You have complimentary coffee and tea machines in the room, a welcome pastry, and a very friendly and helpful staff...Everything was top-notch! Breakfast was vibrant and delicious. The fruit they had was very fresh and tasty! I would choose this hotel again if I would visit Tomar one more time.

Well, this review is not so much about the services of the hotel, it is more about the comfort of the room. The rooms are clean and delightfully decorated, however, Unfortunately, by design, the toilets are not separated by a wall, but only by thin windows. Not only they are uncomfortable, but there is also no privacy. It was kind a fine for us, however could be a deal breaker for some other. This kind of open toilet concept is mostly in cheap hotels such as Ibis budget and in my opinion, it does not fit with the overall quality of the room and the hotel.

Even though overlooking the town square it was a quiet location. Very comfortable bed, high quality linens, luxurious bathroom. Walking distance to nice restaurants and a few cute shops. Mainly loved feeling like I was in an authentic small Portuguese village. Walking distance to the impressive Convento de Cristo. Convenient parking. Also, excellent breakfast and welcoming staff.

You couldn't ask for a better location; right on the main square of the town at the bottom of the hill from the castle. When we checked in, the woman working the desk pulled out a map and gave us a suggested walking itinerary, which we followed to the letter and were very happy with. The hotel doesn't have its own parking, but the town parking garage is a two minute walk away and if you park on the ground floor, there are no steps to climb with luggage. If you give your parking ticket to the attendant on the first floor and pay him six euros, he validates it for twenty four hours, so the cost is very reasonable. The room was excellent; we were on the top floor and had a spacious room with window onto the square. We were there a few days after Christmas and it was dead quiet outside the hotel. The included breakfast wasn't quite the banquet some place have, but it was more than adequate to get us rolling; full English breakfast with lots of pastries, yogurt, and good breads.

I guess I'm old school, but I believe that what happens in the bathroom should stay in the bathroom, and these glassed in or open bathroom designs that many hotels are starting to use can be awkward. Ours was fully glassed in with a little frosting to cover up some of what's happening on the toilet but none of what's taking place in the shower. Being at an age where they (rightly) hand out fairly stiff sentences for being that visible without clothing, this makes me a little uncomfortable.

Exceptional room, great location, superb detail to guess requirements, exceptional comfort, and peaceful, great staff and the breakfast was five star plus. Highly recommend and I will plan to stay again.

Pillows could be better and more choices available. Glass between bedroom and bathroom should not be clear for privacy.

The breakfast was very good, lots of fresh fruit, breads, pastries, eggs, roasted vegetables, great coffee and even champagne mimosas! The location was perfect, right at the cathedral and the base of the Templar castle! It was a short walk to the beautiful river, a number of lovely little restaurants and bars. But perhaps the best aspect was the staff, who were extremely helpful from the moment we arrived. We were early for check-in but they were able to get our room prepared within just a few minutes, which we really appreciated. The very sweet girl at the front desk really went above and beyond to help make our stay absolutely perfect!

Excellent location where we were able to explore the whole town and the historical sites on foot. The square where the hotel is located was fun and enjoyable to sit around and window shopping. Super professional, friendly and helpful front desk staff! Very clean and well maintained property with extremely comfortable bed and bedding. A superb breakfast in a quiet and tastefully decorated hotel restaurant with fresh and tasty food.

Finding the parking lot. Although the paid parking structure was very close to the hotel, about 30 meters away from the hotel, we found it difficult to get to it driving.

From the moment we arrived at Hotel Republica we felt welcomed despite being hot and dishevelled from a big day of hiking. This was one of the most friendly receptions we have had during our two weeks in Portugal. Nothing was too much trouble, including room service provided early from the Restaurant Menu when the All Day Menu was not available. We requested an extra night and again, no problem at all. Breakfast options at the restaurant were exceptional and the service, equally as good. The coffee machine in the room was awesome, the beds luxurious and the bathroom stylish and clean. The minibar was well stocked and an abundance of room snacks were available.

Vegetarian options listed on the Room Service menu were not available.

Excellent location in Tomar. The Camino is right outside the door. Very helpful staff and everything was very good.
