We are a retired couple who were travelling QLD in our 4WD & stayed 2 nights. Locationally, for us, it worked perfectly as it’s situated roughly half way up the eastern coastline of K’gari with close access to/from the beach with the car. We explored Lake Mackenzie on the way up from the barge crossing at Inskip. Next day Eli Creek, shipwreck, Champagne Pools, Orchid Beach & return to FIR. Back to Inskip following day after walk up to Lake Wabby. Ate dinner there both nights which are pretty much hearty pub meals, fine with us. Accommodation was clean, comfortable & tidy. We chose the motel style room which had a separate specific bathroom for us just down the hall, as opposed to a 1 b/r bungalow(obviously more expensive). It’s certainly not 5 star, but we felt FIR represented excellent value for money compared to other alternatives on the island & represented great value for money. Special mention to David & his wife for the hospitality they showed to us during our stay. Should we return to K’gari, we’d stay again.

Hi there, We had a terrific stay, with comfortable beds & pillows, a clean room and great shower. We were always met with a friendly staff member ready to assist us with any questions or requests!

The only thing I can think of that would the improve the quality of our stay next time is some time and attention to the camp kitchen. The cost for families to visit K’gari is substantial & not everyone can afford to eat out for every meal. Catering to those will keep them coming back.

Room was modern spacious and clean, a credit considering the amount of sand on Fraser. Pool was an added bonus for the kids! We made use of the bbq area for breakfast and a dinner, maybe a hot plate for a pot would be a welcome addition? Staff were friendly and the place had a great atmosphere. Was nice to come back to a warm shower and cold beer after a day of exploring. We’ll be back!!

Meals were a little pricey for what you get, frozen veg etc. But understandable considering the isolation I guess?

Stayed for 2 nights. We loved the simple cabin with big open louvres (and essential flyscreens) and fans. Modern bathroom, a fridge and a kettle. A great place tucked away in the bush with a hot shower and comfy bed at the end of a busy day on the island. As others have mentioned, there is no kitchenette (there is a camp kitchen but we didn't use it). The outdoor covered restaurant was lovely for dinner and a beer. Particularly enjoyed the roo sandwich.

Nothing. Not the place to stay if you need aircon, and expect the floor to be covered in sand within 5 mins of arriving (it is an island made of sand). There was a dustpan and brush for the cabin, but a broom would have been handy too.

Location and condition of the rooms was wonderful. Comfy beds with clean linen. Basics in the fridge as well. Very close access to all the main attractions on the island.

Aircon units would have been nice, also a microwave in the room itself. Some more coat hooks around would also have been useful. Some of the windows were a bit fiddly to open and close.

Fantastic location, good amenities very close to the cabins including a shop, bar, restaurant, phone and fuel. Bathroom has been renovated and the pool was great. The cocktails at the bar were very good.

The fridge in cabin 3 probably needs to be updated. It's a shame there's no kitchen facilities in the cabins, however it was only a short walk to the camp kitchen.

Close to beach and restaurant, accommodation was clean and relaxing..natural environment..secure..food tastes good..obviously $$$ (what you expect on island). You can borrow crockey and cutlery... Very helpful staff..I think her name was Emma, very very kind and helpful lady who made our trip smooth with her tips and by selling us fraser island map..lots of thanks from our family Emma :) Would definitely stay again

We're feeling hot/sweatinh at night due to only 1 pedestal and 1 ceiling fan available for 5 people. May be more fans can fix the issue.

It was a great place, allowing us a chance to venture off on fraser or relax by the pool and bar. The food was very good too, especially the parma and mash 😋 the staff were great. Very helpful.

Everything was good, I would have liked a few cheaper options for food, maybe smaller dishes, pie and chips would be good.
