Deluxe room for 2 nights. Spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a balcony with comfortable chairs. Everything all in good working order. The restaurant and bar area is also comfortable, with added sofas to relax in and a great view, especially at sunset. Food options were ok, we had a pizza which was decent size and toppings, the beef burger was a piece of really nice steak and both were delicious. Breakfast was by order and options appeared good but were disappointing. The two poached eggs were fridge cold and the white was runny and not appetising at all. On both days the breakfasts did not have all the elements either stated on the menu or when asked for additional items.

The property is set back from the main road and up a hill, being set back is good in terms of the noise coming from bars and night clubs which goes on till about 3 in the morning so having some distance is better for that reason. There is no lift. The bidet gun is set to jet wash so watch out for that.

Ella Soul provided an excellent experience during our stay. Our room was both spacious and clean, and we appreciated having a mini fridge to keep our drinks and snacks chilled. The town center is merely a five-minute walk away. The staff was friendly and welcoming, always greeting us with a smile. The upstairs restaurant boasts stunning views of Ella Rock and serves delightful dishes. Little Adam’s Peak and the train station are just a short tuk-tuk ride away. We also enjoyed a picturesque 20-30 minute walk to the Nine Arches Bridge along the train tracks. The location was simply ideal!

Ella Soul Resort was an absolute gem during my stay in Ella. The staff were amazing—welcoming, friendly, and always happy to help. The attached restaurant was a real standout, not just for the food but for the stunning views—easily some of the best in town. The location was great, tucked away just enough to feel peaceful but still close to everything. I’d seen a few reviews complaining about the walk, but honestly, it’s just a slow, winding hill—not intense at all. A few extra signs wouldn’t hurt, but it’s definitely manageable and worth it once you arrive. Overall, a fantastic stay with great food, beautiful scenery, and top-notch service.

Everything was perfect! I was looking for a nice and quiet place to rest away from the possible madness from the main street, and that's what I got. The main street is only 1 minute walk from the hotel so easy if you want to go out. Staff was great. Place was very very clean. And the rooftop restaurant-bar was like heaven: the view was stunning and the food was like 10 times more delicious than some places in the main street. Had breakfast and dinner there every night (and I was mostly alone on the rooftop all evening) and I was astonished every time by the quality of the meal!

It was so clean, the staff were so helpful and friendly! We had breakfast upstairs which was so tasty. The welcome drink was a lovely treat. The location is perfect if you want to be right in the centre but it’s not on the main road so you’re still away from the noise and the business. If it rains during your stay, we did an excellent cooking class called Nadhiya Cooking Class, she is new but it was hands down the best curry we’ve had in Sri Lanka!

There were a few ants on the balcony but the room is very well sealed that they didn’t come in. We told the staff and they got rid of them for one day but then they did come back unfortunately.

Great location just a few minutes walk down to the main street. The room was large and very clean and comfortable, with tea and coffee provided. We were also given an iced tea welcome drink. The balcony area is nice to relax on and the upstairs restaurant has beautiful views and a nice big couch and hammock to chill in if you need some downtime but don’t want to be stuck in your room. The staff were all super friendly. Good hot showers with decent pressure. Wifi worked well.

Some welcome information about tours/the local area and options for transport would be useful. Unfortunately, our experience with tuk tuk drivers in Ella wasn’t great, we were repeatedly quoted ridiculous prices and had to negotiate hard (having come from the south, this wasn’t much of an issue down there). When we asked the receptionist if he could tell us what to expect to pay to go somewhere, he said he had no idea. He gave us the number of a contact who turned out to be a tour guide, who then gave us the number of a tuk tuk driver who agreed to take us for a set price but then never showed up. Anyway, this isn’t the hotels fault but putting a bit more thought into helping guests with transport would have alleviated this pain for us.

Good value for money. Very clean and spacious rooms and washrooms with a sizeable balcony. Excellent location - just a 5-7 mins walk from the main street of Ella. Numerous restaurant and shopping options in close proximity.

The entry to the hotel could have been a little inconvenient. It was a very narrow and steep road that led to the hotel from the main Ella street. A little inconvenient on your own car. However it was manageable. The hotel's own restaurant is over priced and average in taste. There are many better options nearby.

We loved this property. Our room was very clean, spacious and had a modern design. We weren’t overly impressed with Ella itself (a bit too touristy for us) but we might return - just to stay at the Ella Soul Resort! The hotel is perfectly positioned away from all the craziness of the bars and restaurants and actually you don’t need to go out to find somewhere to eat and drink because this hotel has a fabulous bar area and amazing restaurant. The views from the restaurant are picturesque and the food was the best we had in Sri Lanka. It was beautifully presented, extremely tasty and a little bit different to more predictable fare on offer elsewhere. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. They spoke excellent English and couldn’t have been more helpful. Finally If you do stay in Ella, I would recommend you take a ride out in a Tuk Tuk to the Buddhist temple on the hill. It’s very impressive.

We enjoyed our stay here. While a little difficult to find we liked that it was quiet and away from the Main Street. The Main Street was easy enough to access however and we popped down there to pick up snacks at the supermarket and go out to dinner ( at the fab Matey Hut). The room was big and comfortable. The aircon was welcome as were the hot showers ( the best we have had on our trip so far). Breakfast in the rooftop restaurant was outstanding- some of the best avocado on toast and eggs benny we have ever had - as good as any cafe in Australia. We really enjoyed our stay here- highly recommend

The room was big and the bed was very comfortable. The place is quiet, even if it’s in the city center. We liked the breakfast, there were many choices and everything was tasty.

Hot water was weak for the first 15 minutes, then it started working well, we didn’t understand why. We know the place is in nature, but there were always ants in the bathroom. Also, the hotel is behind the main road and the street is dark. It’s fine with a tuk-tuk, but if you walk alone, it can feel a bit unsafe.
