Really enjoyed our stay at the hotel and very small town of Skalholt. Restaurant and food was amazing, which was handy as we didn't have any other choices, the Lamb was one of the best meals we had in our 2 week holiday. Rooms were nice, large enough for 2 people for one night. Staff very friendly even though it was busy when we stayed. Would recommend to stay here and use the restaurant. There was a church in the grounds which looked amazing, just wished we had a wonder around it.

Cozy, clean and historic landscape. Scandi, clean, design. There was a wonderful restaurant with lots of local care. I loved the kombucha, homemade granola, fresh bread, local farm produce and traditional pickled or fermented foods. Hot tubs, fireplace and many cozy sitting areas looking over the church or fields. The rooms were super comfortable, quiet and loved the art. It is near other restaurants and tourist sites. The staff was super attentive and friendly. Great spot.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like. We were in Iceland it was constantly raining and super windy.

The free 24h hot tub was a incredible surprise! Breakfast very good and with lots of choice, I didn’t have dinner there, but the restaurant menu looked like good! Staff also was super friendly and very professional. Location is incredible, nice view and very beautiful cathedral just in front of the reception! If I go back to Iceland I will definitely book again :)

It was perfection. The initial view as you approach the property was breathtaking, Check in was wonderful and we were walked to our room and shown the amenities (first time that happened in the 2 weeks we had been in Iceland. Accommodations were lovely. The experimental kitchen meals were creative, delicious, and visually stunning.

That we could not stay there longer.

Location was perfect for our trip through the Golden Circle. Quiet and scenic, this property is situated on very beautiful grounds and surrounding panoramic views.

Fixed menu dinner service wasn't clear on website - arrived with dinner reservation based off of assumption that the cafe menu was available. When notified of fixed menu and pricing for the dinner service we had to cancel and then scramble to find alternate dinner plans off property. Be clear as to your expectations when booking dinner and be sure to ask for prices beforehand as it is pricey for a menu with no options.

Lovely location! Skalholt is rural and gorgeous, in between farm land, beautiful scenery and the golden circle. We got a great deal for a last minute stay at the hotel and enjoyed watching the sunset over the church when we arrived. Our room didn't have a fridge so we were very grateful when the kind hostess lent us a mini one for our room. The room was comfortable, warm and had excellent block out blinds Sunrise the following morning when we left the hotel was a bonus, everything looked beautiful.

The remote location on such a significant village on Iceland’s history. The room was comfortable, the heated bathroom floor was a plus and the hot tub even though it was too hot for my taste… The restaurant had yummy food for dinner and breakfast had a really good buffet too.

The only thing I missed was some ramps to carry my luggage more easily.

A beautiful design hotel with great scenary from the windows. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff, we learned a lot about the hotel and the church from a girl from Poland. Nice hot tubs. The restaurant also looked very good, it's a shame we didn't have time to dine there.

The bathroom was a bit outdated, not in line with the rest of the hotel. Everything else was excellent.

Location was brilliant- perfect for exploring more south and east Iceland including the Golden Circle. The countryside at the hotel was stunning. It’s very quiet and remote. The style of the hotel is very modern, beautiful and light. Every window has a blackout blind but an eye mask is recommended! The breakfast was basic continental style.

The hotel didn’t send the info about the bed layout and info about the hotel until we were leaving! Admin glitch I guess.

Very nice place ! Nested in a tiny village of a few houses that used to be Iceland’s capital, the staff is happy to share the story of the area. Rooms are spacious, common areas have some charm, and the restaurant offers great soup. Very quiet area with great views.
