We loved our room with its little balcony overlooking the gardens and the outdoor spaces which would be great in the summer. Backing onto the Byes with its ancient trees this was a short cut leading down to the Main Street and ultimately the esplanade which was a perfect distance for two ancient guests to walk. Many of the guest guests had been returning for years. It is perfect for older people but not for the young. The staff were delightful. Breakfasts were very good.

The menus changed each night and were imaginative, varied and beautifully presented but accompanied by huge dishes of overcooked vegetables which we found quite off putting though we did notice that some guests devoured them!

Good-sized room in the newer/extended part of the hotel. Clean and airy. Serviced each day - staff very flexible with timing. Splendid breakfast and dinner, both of which we took each day. Excellent, friendly service. Lovely grounds with seating/umbrellas/shade etc. Adjacent to local river walk. Easy access to town on foot.

Bathroom with shower and bath, but shower screen on the side of the bath was far to small and use of the shower thus resulted in a very wet floor. So, baths all week - a first-world problem ! Toilet remarkably low. Not a problem for us, but some of the older guests must surely struggle with this !!

Friendly welcoming staff, pleased to get a small double room when I was expecting a single. Fan in the room was welcome, as it was a very warm day and night.. I enjoyed a G+T from the bar in the late afternoon, sitting outside overlooking the lovely lawn before going out to meet friends Good to have a proper home cooked breakfast served on a hot plate, instead of the standard buffet one finds these days, with teapot and milk, fresh butter and a tray of pots of jam all brought to the table. This is a traditional hotel that has been updated (smart tvs in the rooms and EV chargers in the car park) in a beautiful quiet location just minutes walk to the town. It won't suit people looking for smart contemporary accommodation but will suit those who appreciate traditional good value and customer service.

I could not find a way to turn the heated towel rail off in the bathroom - added unneeded warmth to the room!

The property was beautiful, set in gorgeous gardens and close to the river - wonderful for a walk before breakfast. I had a small balcony which was great ( though a chap cutting the hedges suddenly appeared on the balcony while I was in the room - might have been embarrassing!) The staff were all lovely, even when I accidentally checked out without paying; it was soon put right and all was well. Excellent breakfast. And an easy walk into town.

I knew I was in a single room but even so - the bed was very narrow and very uncomfortable. The duvet was horrid - heavy and hot. It felt like it was old and cheap. You can get 3/4 beds which, to be honest, I would have expected from a hotel of this quality. And I would also have expected a light summer duvet (I stayed in June). As with most hotels, sadly, a single room booking is a low priority.

The Breakfast was absolutely superb.. We’ve stayed at big name hotels & as I believe, the Hunters Moon used all local produce, it was incredibly flavoursome compared with the big group names. A real refreshing change. Hotel grounds are immaculate & perfectly manicured, hotel was welcoming & clean. Lovely staff (the main man who bought out the breakfast was particularly cheerful). Would definitely stay again if in the area

The Bathroom toilet roll holder was quite flimsy & kept coming off & the extractor fan could do with a vacuum to remove the built up dust..

We were made very welcome in this lovely hotel. The room was well equipped (lovely comfy beds), bright, clean and very peaceful. The ambiance was perfect - we enjoyed a top notch (properly made) G&T in the lounge in the evening. Breakfast was delicious- little touches like an extra pot of hot water to top up the tea and hot milk with the coffee showed attention to detail often lacking in other establishments. Highly recommended

Hotel and grounds are in a good location to the town, Staff were excellent nothing was to much trouble, Breakfast was very good plenty of choice and room was comfortable. A lot of good walks to do in the area.

Nothing not to like concerning the hotel & staff, We chose a break during the winter period but would like to return during the summer.

The staff all were friendly and efficient and ready smiles. They guessed correctly what you wanted and were eager to provide it. All told not much to require for improvement. Food on offer exceeded what I could cope with at my age of 85. Variety excellent.

The limit of only one house wine by the glass and that being Australian Shiraz. Nearly all restaurants would have a Merlot for example . As we wanted wine by the bottle we could easily live with the restriction. The shower controls initially difficult to get the hang of and shampoo bottle plunger didn’t function but we had our own.

Breakfast was included and exceptional. Dinner was an excellent set menu choice and great value. The wine list is good and not over priced. I stayed twice in one week in two different rooms. Both were very comfortable and quiet with very good in-room facilities and newly renovated bathrooms.

Nothing. My only comment is that I had an early morning departure on my second stay and had asked for a light breakfast, croissants and coffee, for 7am as breakfast started at 0830, but this was not prepared. It is a minor detail but it would be nice to have a continental type breakfast from 0730 available until the kitchen opens.

The gardens surrounding the property are gorgeous. There is also a private gate that takes you directly on to the ‘byes’ a lovely walk for the dog in the morning before breakfast. The staff are so accommodating. Nothing was too much trouble. We couldn’t leave our dog in our room during breakfast as he gets very anxious so they set us up a table in the bar area for us to be able to eat together with the dog for breakfast.
