The Lodge was fantastic with plenty of room for us 6 ladies. We made good use of the spa & facilities. Great location with easy access to exmouth beach (which was beautiful) & donkey sanctuary @ Sidmouth which is totally worth a visit. The grounds themselves were beautiful with plenty of walking opportunities, only interrupted by daft people hitting little white balls !! The staff were friendly & helpful. We would definitely go back again.

My only criticism would be the small fridge as we found we needed to shop daily. Also, the symbols were missing on the oven so we wasn't too sure about the settings !

Room was spacious and comfy with a fab shower, pool, jacuzzi, sauna, and gym were great. The location was great, maybe it would seem out of the way, but in fact within 5 miles or so of local villages and a train station, which will get you to Exeter or Exmouth if you don't fancy driving. Good base to explore with a car, also there are some walks on foot close by. If you use Uber, then that's an option as technically, you could get there by train and uber /taxi if you don't drive.

Breakfast, very basic considering rest of hotel, had better at travelodges, was included in my rate, but if you pay when you are there, cost of £16 maybe better else spent finding somewhere in the local villages which are within 5 mile drive or so.

4-Star Review: Wonderful Stay with Just a Few Minor Hiccups We had a really lovely time during our recent stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the check-in process was quick and seamless. The room was clean, well-appointed, and the bed was extremely comfortable. We also really appreciated the modern decor and thoughtful touches like complimentary bottled water and good quality toiletries. The location was outside exeter —main restaurants and golf bar was expensive but still quiet enough for a peaceful night’s sleep. Breakfast was fresh and tasty, with plenty of variety to choose from. The reason for the 4-star rating instead of 5 is due to a couple of small issues: the Wi-Fi was spotty at times, and housekeeping missed our room one day during our stay. Nothing major, but worth mentioning. Overall, it was a great experience and we’d definitely consider staying here again. Highly recommended!

Price was higher than I would expect to pay

The nicely appointed, good-sized bedroom. We also chose this hotel (which we'd been to once before) for its excellent gym and spa facilities. We also liked the bar area in the golf clubhouse, where we had a nice drink and snack one evening.

I was very disappointed with the breakfast for the following reasons: - both coffee machines were 'out of order!' - cereal selection was mainly aimed at children (cornflakes, rice kristbies etc) - the main plates were cold! - the bacon was hard and under-cooked. For a 4 star hotel the above is not really acceptable, especially 'the coffee situation!' A lot of customers were complaining and said it definitely wasn't worth £16!

For a short stay and base to come home to, this was a great place. The service was faultless, the cooking was first class, it may not be fancy menus but the food was first class.the room and facilities plain fare but it doesn't take fancy trimmings to be great. Comfort and cleanliness are top on our list and the spa delivered on this. The spa facilities were far more than we expected and of the highest standard. Have already recommended this to our colleagues for future stays.

Could have done with forward notice of how to find the hotel. If you follow Google maps you end up in the middle of nowhere and are faced with navigating the tiniest back roads. We weren't the first and reputedly it happens all the time. So check with the hotel for proper guidance to their front door. It is straightforward when you know..

The room was lovely - spacious, comfortable and clean. All very modern and the bathroom was excellent too. Plenty of parking and a beautiful location. The staff were all very friendly, cheerful and helpful. Sadly it was a very short stay so we didn't have time to use the pool, restaurant or bar but they all looked nice too. We would definitely stay here again if we were in the area.

The room was described as a "Courtyard view", which I assumed would mean that the window faced inwards but onto an unroofed outdoor area, e.g. an enclosed courtyard. However the reality is that it's not a courtyard at all - the window looks into the restaurant/bar area. It wasn't a problem for us as it was midweek, but I can imagine that if there were an event on or the bar were busy, it would be very noisy for anyone trying to sleep. Definitely something to be aware of for anyone booking one of these rooms.

I booked a deluxe room with balcony which was very comfortable with views over the golf course. The spa facilities and setting were excellent.

The signs upon arrival from the road need to be clearer stating hotel as we thought this was just the golf course and drove on by a few times. The hotel complex is very large and instructions on where everything is could be better explained. Very offputting having to pay for your meal by card before receiving food. Understand after when complaining at reception this is due to walk-ins not paying, but nevertheless spoils the experience. Not very many people around bar area after to create ambience.

On arrival receptionist had us booked in very quickly even though she was busy. All with a smile. Food ordered from the bar hot and tasty. Breakfast - always ample available and good choice of things Room - could do with a bit of TLC but was clean and tidy - housekeeping team excellent Easy to get to hotel from the M5 Overall - this is our second visit and won't be our last.

We chose to eat in the restaurant on Sun eve. Table booked for 7.15pm. We were taken to our table but no sign of our order for food or drinks being taken for nearly 45 mins. Not very busy. When our food arrived over an hour after we had sat down the chips were cold -nearly as cold as outside. The waiter quickly returned with some fresh hot chips but 80 mins to wait for a meal is not acceptable. We wish we had ordered from the bar as it is the same menu.

Spotless but a little dated in areas Staff throughout were excellent Golf club members need reminding they don’t own the hotel and that speaking to staff the way in which one lady did should not be tolerated over 60 pence and a pineapple juice ! The staff seem on occasion stretched perhaps this can be looked at , it’s not the staff it’s some of the clientele

The hotel and staff were fine the golfing fraternity and their entitled thoughts have sadly left me feeling I won’t return , far from welcoming , often holding up queues and pushing in etc

It was a very stylish and modern hotel with serious gym and pool/spa facilities and surrounded by countryside/golf course. We didn't have the chance to stay long enough to have a proper look around beyond the hotel but even for non golf players it appears there are trails for walking.

Being Sunday it was very busy in the spa and pool. The restaurant area (in the evening) was strangely poorly lit and soulless and we were asked rather abruptly to pay before being served the food as though people (even hotel guests?) might 'do a runner' which felt a little odd. It is such a big place that it doesn't feel very personal.
