Breakfasts are exceptional with a full range from continental, fruit, cereals and full English. The hotel is on the impressive promenade, right by the beach which is clean and easily accessible, with clean sands at low tide. There are fine cliff walks to both the East and the West with excellent views, Eastward to Chesil Beach and Portland Bill and Westwards to Torquay, but the paths are steep, so not for the faint hearted.

I would prefer a mini fridge in the room so that fresh milk could be provided for tea and coffee. The floor boards in the rooms creak so you could hear the guests in the room above moving around in the evening and early morning.

Breakfast food overall was very good, although 2 were undercooked and had to be sent back. The service was very poor. We had to keep asking for items we ordered but which didn't appear. On our last morning our waiter informed us that our order had been lost, so we had to re-order. When breakfast finally came it was incomplete. We felt staff had been poorly trained and just didn't understand their role. I complained at the time about the level of staff efficiency and was told that staff "learnt on the job" and there was no training as such. Dinner service was acceptable, although a little slow. Overall the restaurant service was poor for a 4* facility. It all could have been so much better.

Absolutely fantastic! Staff were amazing, attentive, professional, friendly, efficient, can't praise them enough and that was all of them. Room was great, everything you want or need, decor great, facilities included a safe and mini fridge, totally spotless in cleanliness, complimentary toiletries, towels etc We opted for breakfast in bed, brought to our room by 2 very well dressed in uniform staff, quick and with friendly unobtrusive manner. Food exceptional, tasty, hot, exactly as ordered. A £5.00 per person per day charge applies but so worth it! Parking no problem, lovely to look at hotel, great sea front location, definitely going again.

Spa was exceptional. Well maintained with competent staff. Table d’hote menu was both delicious and value for money. Horizon restaurant a great option for more informal dining. Delicious fresh and well prepared dishes. Was nice to take after dinner coffee in the bar so we could enjoy the live piano situated in the restaurant. Reception and bar staff were friendly, our room was the perfect size for a double, on an inland view rate. The balcony and view over the cricket pitch and town beyond that was a welcome perk.

Breakfast service was cramped. Poor attitude from service staff during breakfast. Due to small number of guests occupying the hotel, only half the floor space was being used for breakfast. Made for little space between tables and clunky food service. Bar drink prices in the Victoria hotel were steep.

Perfect location. Lots of choices for breakfast. Spa available at the hotel next door (we didn’t have time to use it). Check in process was very smooth and fast. Parking is reserved for all guests staying.

No air con in the rooms and they’re not very sound proof. Very outdated. One staff member asked us several times for a room number to put a drink on in the bar but we explained we simply wanted to pay for it now then he asked for a name several times and wouldn’t let us pay without it. Didn’t happen for our round of drinks before and seemed rather strange seeing as it’s open to the public.

Great location with sea view from the terrace, loved the heated pool. The staff very friendly and attentive, great to be able to check in on arrival to use the facilities before our check in time, so could park and enjoy the day there. The room has all you need, very comfortable bed and spotless. Great breakfast with lots of choice.

The dinner jacket dress code for the restaurant, almost put us off staying, but glad we did, just didn’t use the restaurant.

Too much light into my room at night made it difficult to sleep. The curtains didn't completely block out the light and the light from the corridor seemed in under the door. The room was also very hot so I had to have the fan on all night as the window didn't fully open. A shame as the position overlooking the sea was wonderful and otherwise the room was great.

Loved the location, parking was important to us and can be a hassle at some hotels but definitely not at the Belmont. The rooms were up to expectations (after we upgraded to a superior garden room and then a partial sea view room for our last night). The gardens at the rear of the hotel were very nice and quiet. The guests lounge and patio were excellent, very comfortable, service was great for drinks and bar snacks.

Everything is amazing we love location of hotel but your staff all of them are welcoming friendly warm so nice, which makes our stay more special the room was beautiful you upgraded us to sea view room. The food was amazing we loved it. We had most peaceful sleep ever in hotel as usually there is noise somewhere however we both feel Belmount is our favourite place. Absolutely Nothing

Superb breakfast. Location great. Furnishings, decor superb. Wonderful floral displays. Would recommend to anyone. Such a peaceful hotel.

Although not close to the lift, the heavy machinery sound of the lift . Particularly so at meal times. Not too disturbing but very aware of it. Possibly just needed some lubrication? Such a peaceful hotel this is a small thing.
