We had a great 1 night stay at the Mitchell River Tavern. It started with us arriving and having lunch which was excellent quality and great value for money. Checking in was very simple with clear instructions and directions. Food was so good we decided to go and have dinner there too. It was extremely busy but the friendly staff assisted and had a table for us before we’d even had our cocktails made at the cocktail bar as we had a short wait for a table to become available. Food was on point as was the great service. Cocktail bar was so good we went back for more. The room was immaculate and clean, the bed comfortable and spacious.

Great location on main road, good water pressure & hot. Good restaurant on site.

A bit of road noise early as things get going.

Usually when i book some "cheaper hotel" in a smaller towns (or even in bigger cities), i usually dont expect much - i expect creacky doors and crooked windows. But this one here actually looked nice. Room was tidy, clean, smelled clean, bathroom was great, water in the shower ran normally (not like the ones where 50% of shower holes are full of limescale and squirts the water to every other direction except where it supposed to squirt). Staff was friendly and responsive as well when asked for a extra hour to check out. So...i got nothing bad to say, i would stay in this hotel again if i happen to drive by.

Super clean. The cleanest motel I've ever stayed in. Everything was well maintained. Really enjoyed my stay. Although given the smallest room in the building, with roof view, but it's very comfy. I love it.

Bit short on bathroom amenities: only been given small tubes of 1x shampoo, 1x conditioner, 1x shower gel, and 1x small soap. Normally it is at least 2 each being 2 person occupancy. And no lift, which is quiet fine, but 3 flights of stairs from the car park is quite an exercise.

On a road trip and we booked this in for a night's stay on Christmas eve. Motel seemed to have been painted recently which gave it a nice fresh look. Staff were very friendly who offered to heat up our pizza. Bed was very soft. Nice pleasant little room.

Uncomfy bed (too soft) and pillows. Just not my personal liking. We were awaken by fire alarm at 7am on Christmas Day and had to evacuate and then had to rush back to hit the road.

... tiny room was snug rather than offputting, though suitable only for a mid-sized sole traveller with minimal luggage. Biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar, milk were replaced daily: sincerely appreciated. As was being allowed to check-in a little early; thank you!!

warnings re. exhaust fan in bathroom (threatening a $2000 fine if guests trigger the alarm) seem excessive; surely, if the fire alarm is triggered because of poor design, the onus remains with the hotel, not the guest

Very close to everything and nice meal in the restaurant, we are vegetarian and asked if the Mushroom Carbonara could come without Bacon, came out without Bacon and it was delicious

We seemed to have an internal heating duct in our room (8), would stay again maybe not in that room, it was very noisy up to about 11.30, may have even been the duct from the kitchen

Friendly and helpful staff. Decent pillows, thick towels, comfortable bed, hot shower & enough toiletries. It's probably the most comfortable stay I've had anywhere in a long time

If I had to be picky.. Clearly they've had issues with smoke alarms, given the signs (yelling) at you to ensure the exhaust fan is on and not to cook in the room. The signs could reduce in number. However, understand that common sense isn't that common when there is financial impact.

This is a hotel that has got it together. It was suggested that we book a table for dinner, as it was a Saturday night. They were correct as it was booked out. The food and service were great. The room was basic but well appointed, clean and very usable. Apart from the restaurant there is a cocktail bar, gaming area and a ‘band room’ All were full.

Good location, lots of places to eat around the tavern. Walking distance to the river, Coles and a good place to stay in close proximity to other areas like lakes entrance, Metung and bruthen. Staff were knowledgeable, friendly and helpful when asked for information

Could have used a second towel hanger in the bathroom. Room was designed for 2 people but only had a place for one wet towel. Was the only thing that needed to be considered
