Breakfast was good, offered European style breakfast.
This being our most expensive accommodations, it's also our most problematic of the stays. The internet speed was disappointing. 5 Mbps download speed and less than 1 Mbps upload. Constantly dropping connection. Unusable! As more guest arrived the less functional it became. My wife had to move a chair next the room door to get a better signal strength to be able to use internet. Smell - to us it smelled like cat urine but that could have been the cleaning products used. The smell didn't disappear as the night progressed. Our room 12, was in the center of the incoming door and the main hallway. We heard everything despite the claim of sound proofing of the accommodation.

Breakfast was a bit simple, but ok. Nothing too fancy. The room itself is so clean and new that it makes you feel like you're the first one to ever use it. The location is great for those who want to explore the glaciers, Diamond Beach, etc.
Although the bathroom is good, the one thing we really missed was a shower curtain. It was impossible to take a shower and not wet all the stuff on the wash bin. The lady preparing the breakfast wasn't wearing gloves and put the bread with her bare hands when refilling the bread in the trays, while guests are expected -understandably- to use tongs.

Loved the location, friendly staff, views, and great breakfast! They had a very nice assortment of books and things in the hallway that were interesting to peek at. They even gave us personalized recommendations with a map when we asked for more information about some destinations. We would have enjoyed staying here longer and would happily come back!
Only one small thing we would have liked to change- we wanted to separate the two twin beds in our room but they were connected with the sheet so we had to keep them together.

I stayed at Vagnsstaðir Guesthouse on June 25 and had a really pleasant experience. The room was spacious and comfortable, with enough space to relax after a long day of traveling. The washroom was very clean and came with all the necessary amenities, which made the stay even more convenient. Breakfast was a highlight — fresh, well-prepared, and a great start to the day. The overall atmosphere of the guesthouse was quiet and welcoming, perfect for travelers looking to rest in a peaceful setting.
Everything was perfect

A simple but very decent guesthouse. The rooms are spacious and the location is excellent if you want to visit Diamond Beach. There’s also a restaurant nearby. Breakfast was surprisingly plentiful for a guesthouse. A big thanks to the staff – one of our group forgot their wallet in the room and they kindly arranged for it to be sent to Reykjavik.
One small thing that would make the stay even better: in Iceland it would be very useful if every guesthouse had some option for drying clothes.

It is good accommodation for one night if you are visiting the diamond beach and the glaciers. We had breakfast available, which was good since it is in the middle of nowhere. There is free parking. Accommodation is located 20 minutes by car from the diamond beach.
Not a big deal, but the code for entering the room is a bit confusing, and if you put it wrong twice, it blocks the room. It is inconvenient since many people check in in the middle of the night when reception is closed.

This was one of the nicest rooms we had during our stay, but one of the least expensive. The room and bathroom were a great size. We had a fridge in our room and access to a hallway microwave and coffee service. We didn't feel great, so it was nice to have such a comfortable room to relax for the evening and sleep. The location was great, right off Route 1, but set off of the road. The view from the hotel was beautiful, although we did not upgrade for the mountain view room. The room had self check-in, so all we needed was an access code emailed just before we arrived.
The breakfast was perfectly fine, but not the best selection we had during our trip. It was one of the latest check-in times we had at any hotel...4pm.

The new Guesthouse, everything is clean, there is a private toilet and coffee and tea the whole day.
Breakfast is only from 7:30-9:00 am! We are on vacation and sometimes we would like to sleep longer after a 5 hour Glacier Hike. I tried to eat breakfast at 9:30 am and was told that everything is clean and I don‘t get anything anymore. There is nothing around Vagnsstadir, nowhere you could buy something to eat. Missing the breakfast I paid for is not acceptable for me.

The property was in a remote location close to some important points of interest in Iceland. For how remote the location was, the property was really well maintained. Though the amenities were basic, it more than satisfied our needs for a quick stay while exploring Iceland. The check-in process was absolutely straightforward and the rooms were quiet and isolated. Breakfast was decent. Overall though, this is the perfect spot to stay if your main idea is to get to Jokulsarlon, the Diamond Beach and any of the tours that operate from these locations.
Can't really complain about the lack of food options nearby that are open past 9 PM - all restaurants in and around the Southeast part of Iceland (from Via to Hofn) close early. Maybe having a vending machine in the facility might give travelers options for a quick snack in a pinch. Fortunately, we were prepared for this scenario by bringing along some ready-to-eat food. Having an electric kettle in the room and a microwave in the main hallway was massively helpful!

(+) The breakfast is simple, but it includes all the basic beverages and bread. (+) The provision of hot water and hot coffee at the main entrance is very thoughtful. (+) The room is quiet, the single bed is soft and comfortable."
(-) The bathroom sink is too small, which makes it very inconvenient to fill up drinking water. This is particularly troublesome for someone like me who loves to drink Icelandic water. (-) The bathroom floor drain emits a foul smell when showering."
