on arrival there was clear glass on the floor and on the bed which cut my husbands hand and he takes medication to thin his blood. Some of the decoration needs a touch up or clean as some walls were dirty. rug under the bed was frayed and very dirty so needs removing. Seating at the end of the bed was very dirty and stained. Floor throughout the rooms were dirty on arrival and more so under the fridge area. Quality of some of the produce used at breakfast, ie: sausages.

location is spot on, about a 5-10 min walk from Piccadilly Train Station and shops and restaurants literally on the doorstep. Piccadilly Gardens just across the road with a lovely little food market. Breakfast was nice, buffet style continental and cooked to order hot option. Staff were lovely. Room was adequate, a little dated but we were happy for what we paid. Great view of the main street. Rooms are not double glazed so you will hear some street noise, mainly emergency services sirens.

our room (404) had two windows but one had been blocked off for some reason. Curtains didn't close properly which is not a problem in the darker months but I would imagine would be annoyance in the lighter months

The Gardens is a budget hotel in central Manchester. The reception lobby was therefore a pleasant surprise, being airy, spacious and calm. The location could not be better for visiting central Manchester, most of the galleries, libraries and museums are within walking distance. The room was large and the bed huge and comfortable. The breakfast was very good and had an excellent range to choose from, and service was very good. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and a special mention for Jay, who looked after the breakfast service with professionalism and charm.

Location is great, staff were friendly, polite and helpful - leaving luggage securely when I arrived early morning until room ready was easy and felt safe. The room we had was at the back of the hotel and very quiet with two large windows that made it light. Had been concerned about some of the reviews and slightly low overall rating, but stay exceeded expectations and excellent value for money.

The furnishings were a little dated but really doesn't matter for a few days and having said that the bedroom had everything could have wanted - two desks/tables, a comfortable chair as well as desk chair, plenty of space and a good functional bathroom. Main issue for me was that the curtains were very thin and one didnt fit properly so the room was too light in the early hours of the morning.

This hotel was in a fantastic location for the price and to be honest I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was. Like other reviews I had read, I agree that the decor is a little tired and could do with updating but the room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We had booked breakfast the next day and great choice and I liked that everything was cooked to order instead of being left out on a hotplate. Will definitely be staying again.

Like others have said, it was a little noisy but what can you expect being in the middle of Piccadilly Gardens :-) Glad I had my earplugs with me

The Location was slap bang in the middle of manchester which was very close to where we were going.The staff on reception were polite and efficient but im giving a big shout out to the housekeeping staff who were lovely, especially the man doing laundry who we spoke to in the morning. The shower was lovely and powerful, room had a fan which was most welcome during the hot weather this weekend. The room was clean, and relaxing. We will be back.

Not enough plug sockets unfortunately. The bed, although comfy was extremely creaky it needs replacing. The other annoyance was a bird screaching on the building somewhere as we were facing into the garden, it sounded like a vulocerapter screaching away on the roof all day and early morning. Not the hotels fault i suppose but it did disturb our stay.

The breakfast was excellent hot and very good choice. Staff friendly and helpful Location was excellent very central. Would definitely chose again if coming to Manchester, but would choose a room with a window

The room we chose without a window up in the attic, it was very warm be great in the winter but when we are having a heatwave not so. I must admit there was a fan in the room that was very welcome, do not think we could have stayed in the room otherwise. The outside entrance could do with abit of a clean and update our hearts sank when we saw where we were staying but after entering we were pleasantly surprised

We were eventually given a nice room, that was very spacious and had windows that you could open. Reception staff didn't discuss and were friendly and offered us this room very promptly (see cons of first room). Bedsheets and towels were clean. Location is great.

We were initially given a room on the first floor that had a strong smell of cigarettes especially in the bathroom. The floor boards along the corridors are very creaky and overall the hotel could do with a makeover. The carpet in the room was very worn out and not the cleanest.

The rooms were large, clean and appear to have been recently renovated. We had two rooms each with their own quirky decor which was lovely compared to standard hotel corporate looks. Great facilties with full size ironing board, bag stand, steam iron, bathrobes and tea coffee facilities. Bed was amazing!!! Never seen such a thick mattress in a hotel - great nights sleep! Staff were fantastic, loved our waiter who made rhe effort to stop and chat as he took everyone's breakfast orders. Continental breakfast, juice, tea, coffee and cerals were all buffet style but hot orders were cooked fresh and bought to the table which again is a stand out from the more corporate hotel chains. Absolutely cracking value!!!!

Corridor areas were dated and worn out but.... the hotel does seem to be going through a refurbishment and maybe these will be looked at and to be honest.... how much time do you spend in a corridor???? Would not recommend for anyone with disability issues. I do struggle with mobility and there is no ramp access into the hotel and even though there is a lift to the upper floors there are small stepped areas in the the corridors and to the restaurant.
