Fantastic room, great facilities and overall a very pleasant stay in the centre of Manchester

Check in could have been better. Arrived at 14:30 and told we couldn't check in until 3pm. We asked to leave our bags which we said we could, but then we were ignored and bags were not tagged and taken? Five minutes later we spoke to another member of staff at reception about leaving our bags, who proceeded to check us in early as our room was ready for us. Seemed like the one member of staff was turning a lot of people away for being 20 minutes early which was clearly leading to unneeded chaos and business in reception.

Perfect central location and easy ( but expensive) to park close by. We were attending a function at the hotel so very convenient. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and bedding clean and fresh. Good to be able to alter ac levels to cool the room down, so often hotel rooms are hot and stifling. Not the case here, very comfortable temperature.

The offer of changing our double room into a twin did not happen as promised at reception when we booked in, but this did not spoil our stay as the bed was big enough for 2 friends and very comfortable. Are so many different lights and switches needed? Very bright with led spot, strip and wall lights The bathroom decor was in need of updating with gaps and black mould in the sealant around the bath. The shower screen leaked and left a large puddle on the floor which needed cleaning up with towels before it ran into the main room.

I had quite a long (5 nights) stay at the Mercure this time. I have been about ten times in the last fourteen years to attend a conference. This time I stayed on for a bit afterwards going out into town on the Sunday evening and to the theatre on Monday. The staff were the friendliest and most efficient they have been in all those stays - their willingness to please was very noticeable. Rebecca at reception (and her colleagues) were very kind and printed out my crossword for me every morning which was a bit of a pain for them because the only printer working for them at that point was three floors up from their desk. Abbie and Rose looked after me very well in the dining room and at breakfast - they are real superstars. Thomas was my waiter at supper on Friday and he was delightful - efficient and charming. My room was comfortable as always, there was good water pressure in the shower and it was all very clean. All the public areas of the hotel were in good condition and the food in the restaurant was much better than I remember it previously. Overall it was a fabulous stay. The location is great with the bustle and fabulous food of China Town in one direction and the delights of the Arndale Centre in the other. I went to the Exchange Theatre (a short walk from the hotel) to see the brilliant Daniel Kitson and walked to the Old Wellington pub on Sunday afternoon to have supper before Becky Hill at the Arena. Manchester is a great place. I felt safe and loved how busy and vibrant everywhere was.

My only beef is with the WiFi (as it has been on previous occasions). In public areas it is good but I once again found it unreliable in my room. The (quite sophisticated TV) offered the ability to stream from connected devices but in practice the WiFi was too patchy to work properly. My laptop connected reasonably well but my phone and iPad really struggled (so that could have been my issue not the hotel's). It did not materially affect my enjoyment of the stay but it was a minor niggle!

The reception staff when we arrived were fantastic, we had arrived too early but he was very helpful storing our bags. Room was ok and had a great night sleep. Breakfast service very good.

Bar was very expensive, appreciate is was hotel prices but when you can go over the road to 'spoons' and pay half the price it's a no brainer! TV in room was broken, reported it to reception on leaving. Car park is not well signposted and we ended up in the NCP at a very expensive rate. Hotel wifi was none existent and I had to absent myself from early work Teams call.

The hotel is in an excellent location. Handy for the train station, shops and lots of good restaurants. The restaurant on the third floor was appreciated on the first night of our stay. The food was cooked and presented well and the staff were attentive. Breakfast is self service. There’s a good choice of hot and cold food. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming. The room was clean and the beds very comfortable. The room was a little chilly but we were warm enough with the additional duvet that we were given. There was plenty of hot water and the shower was good.

The room was chilly. We asked for and was given an additional duvet so were warm enough in bed and slept well. There was a portable heater in the room which afforded some heat and was needed as the radiator in the bathroom was also cold. When we went down to the dining room we found that to be cold too. Fortunately we had warm clothes with us so wore multiple layers. This is my only criticism. Otherwise everything was good. I would definitely come again.

Staff were lovely. Location was good. Breakfast had good variety. It was my birthday and they gave us a free upgrade and put birthday banners on the bed with balloons and free gin bottles.

The room was freezing on check in, we turned heating on and when we came back. It was just as cold as outside which at the time was -1. We mentioned this to reception, they came up and said he would get us a heater but I wanted to change rooms, which they allowed us to do. They even gave us free breakfast because the thermostat in the original room was broken and had to change rooms at 1.30am.

Location is great! Walking distance to all the sights , shopping and dining. Room is clean , good size and comfortable bed, also clean bathroom with shampoo and soap which smell nice. I like that there is a coffee station, fan, iron and hairdryer. Friendly staff and excellent Manchester Bee Cocktail , compliments to Sahar as well thanks to Chloe for the nice recommendations about the city. View from the 14th floor is amaizing. I especially like the complimentary water station by the reception and that you can leave your luggage in the hotel.

Room has bit wear and tear which is normal. There is a table, but you can only seat on the bed, a chair or something similiar will be nice. The air condition is not cold / circulate enough, there is a fan but it will be nice if air conditioning is better since the window can't be opened and it get stuffy

Location was excellent, it was right in the heart of were we needed to be and had everything we needed to go within walking distance. The room was spot on it had exceptional views of the city which I was pretty fond of. Bed was comfy, the shower was powerful and hot. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Best of all was there was no issues which is the thing everybody hopes for when going to a hotel.

I think paying for parking is maybe a bit harsh given the price of the room. Other than that I don't think there was anything I disliked, I was there for only a short period of time so didn't really get to full experience all the amenities the hotel had to offer.

Staff where great, vert attentive and genuine. Breakfast was excellent!

Although the hotel had been refurbished since my last visit, it appeared to have been refurbshed on a budget... ie the bathroom tiles had been painted not replaced. The original windows hadn't been replaced and had constant condensation rendering the advertised "City View" none existent. The hotel would also benefit from a "deep clean".. it was fine on the surface, but the carpets had debris in them across most floors i visited and the lifts were dirty (due to constant use, which I understand).

Ian on reception made our check out very friendly and looking forward to come again
