The staff were brilliant, really welcoming and chatty. The bar and foyer are stunning and the decor is very chic

The room was quite disappointing after seeing photos of all the stunning rooms on the website. Our room was small with curtains that were stuck to the wall by grubby velcro. The TV wasn't plugged in and when we tried the sockets behind didn't work and then the aerial wasn't plugged in and the fridge didn't work. It felt like we'd been stuck in a room no one had been in for ages and it didn't match up to what we were expecting

Clean, quiet and welcoming hotel located just 3 minutes walk from the tram stop at St Peter's Square or around 10 minutes walk from Piccadilly. All the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was well appointed with almost everything you could need including fridge, good quality tea and coffee and great toiletries. The bed was extremely comfortable with good quality bedding. The heating/air conditioning was very effective and easy to use. Extremely reasonably priced - I would definitely stay here again.

The lighting in the room was poor relying on low wattage bedside lamps. An array of switches by the beds didn't seem to operate anything. The desk needs a desk chair. The stay could have been improved by providing an information pack about the hotel facilities (including the breakfast times, checkout time, what to do if you have an emergency etc) and also suggestions about where to visit in Manchester (tourist sites, restaurants and coffee shops, nearby chemists and supermarkets etc).

The staff were friendly, welcoming and casual in a good way. They looked to be enjoying the hotel and working there which is a good sign. The bed was massive and the room comfortable. The breakfast was plenty and varied with a good separate egg menu which i didn't partake of but looked very nice (scramble eggs with Salmon.. etc). Parking was close by at the Q car park with a discount. Overall a very enjoyable stay over with my 2 children.

Limited beers at the bar (only small gripe..no Guinness), but that's it..

I liked the location, central and close to good restaurants, not far from the venue we were visiting. The staff were lovely and friendly, the breakfast was good. The room was a good size.

There was an event on in the evening which meant it was a bit tricky for residents as we could not access the bar- table service was provided, but I just wanted to take drinks to out room- the drinks were very expensive too(£12 for a regular glass of wine!) ! Staff sorted my drinks to take upstairs, and were very accomodating, but I think for a hotel, events should have their own space and not fence off the reception bar. Also, small thing, but not space to place a suitcase other than the bed

I recently stayed at this hotel and had a really pleasant experience. The location is fantastic – right in the centre of Manchester, very convenient to reach the Manchester Central Convention Complex. The staff at the desk was friendly on check in, check out and at breakfast. Check-in was quick and smooth, which I appreciated after a long journey. The room itself was comfortable, especially the bed. Overall, a solid choice for anyone looking for convenience, comfort, and good service in Manchester.

If I really have to mention something, the only downside was the continental breakfast. The pastries weren’t very fresh, which was a bit disappointing if you're someone who enjoys that kind of breakfast. However, the porridge from the à la carte menu was a much better option — warm, filling, and really tasty.

First time staying at The Alan and it was a quality experience from check-in to check-out. The rooms are large and comfortable, with a slightly minimalist feel in terms of furniture. All of the staff are friendly and helpful and the breakfast offer is outstanding with both a hot and cold buffet style and a short menu of specials. The Alan is a city centre location and an easy walk to both daytime and night time attractions. The hotel is also just yards away from St Peter's Square for trams to and from the airport and the city's major rail stations. Great range of cocktails at the bar...

Nothing.

Room decor and overall hotel design was impeccable, really lovely and well thought out. Shower was great, and the space in the rooms was fantastic

On arrival, was asked to pay the price of the room in full plus the £50 deposit for charges to room. Explained I had already paid for the room in advance and had to provide card statements, a bit of a faff and wasn’t really believed at first. Breakfast portions very small, if staying again would just book brunch in NQ or Chinatown. Asked for new towels twice and never received any so had to shower before check out with damp towel, not really ideal. Upon check out, I was asked again to pay for the hotel room in full and was repeatedly told no you are wrong you haven’t paid. Again had to get up bank statements to show receipt of payment.

The Alan is phenomenal...make no mistake! This is my second stay at The Alan, and I will always come back. Admittedly, I got an upgrade this time from Booking.com to a Signature Room, but never the less, I highly recommend a stay here. Firstly, the location is perfect. Right across from China Town, a walk from the trams/buses and train station. All you need to access other parts of the city and a walk from the abundance of The Northen Quarter. The Alan is grand, bountiful, and contemporary in design. A very chić entrance with a Café and restaurant, also a very nice seating area. The Signature Rooms are huge, with double windows so you can open the window on the outside and filter it with the second window. *I like the cold so perfect. With separate heating and air-conditioning to each room, too! Perfect for a cosy night in. The bed is deep, firm & absolutely huge, I'm 5ft the width of this bed is longer than me *laughs. I literally slept and couldn't reach either end, and it was perfect. There are some seriously heavy and good *to floor black out curtains that will aide your sleep into a slumber. It was a great sleep! A huge TV is perfect for a midnight film binge, you cab connect your phone to your own streaming apps, too. Coffee, tea, water, and plenty of great quality toiletries in the bathroom. Also, the beautiful bathroom design is sleek, minimalistic, but also soft, feminine, and a decent size. Also, a fridge - this needs to be highlighted as an extra because I'm the person who'll buy food to eat in room and bottled water. It has a small freezer in it. Perfect for your favourite ice cream. Beautiful flowing voil that let's in the morning glow from the city. I could live in this room and be happy. I'm currently in recovery from an awful domestic abuse case, and I'm disabled with very bad anxiety. The staff here are very mindful, discreet, and welcoming.

Likes - Very friendly staff, comfortable and large room. Bath and shower, breakfast included. Dislikes - room quite dated, aircon did not blow out cool air so the room was too hot especially when trying to sleep. No usb ports and we’d not brought a plug but we used the tv to charge phones. Restaurant menu expensive and not much choice and we wanted to eat there for convenience before a gig but we ended up eating elsewhere. Breakfast was great with a choice of buffet and menu options.
