junior suite windows had cobwebs and dead spiders on (personally not bothered but girlfriend got scared upon seeing the spiders)

Central location, beautiful decor in the lobby and in the room, great staff very helpful with all questions or requests, everything worked great, very nice smelling shower gel/shampoo in the bathroom, clean room and new water/tea/coffee every day, and pretty good value for money (at the time of booking this historic 4* hotel was almost the same price as the Yotel down the street...so for £150 more for a week's stay we got a bathroom with real walls instead of a plastic divider, and enough space around 3 sides of the massive bed...very happy to recommend!

Rumbling of the tram outside the window from 6am until 1am next morning, and we were on the 6th floor, didn't expect to hear anything...it was a low noise not enough to wake you up and we could have asked to be moved to a room away from the front of the building, but we decided the hassle of moving wasn't worth it - just something to note if you are noise-sensitive, ask for a room away from the street.

Ambience and overall aura .. location is a 10/10 walking distance of everything from Tesco/sainsburys to McDonald’s for fast food but also chain & bars like turtle bar, san Carlos, Alcotraz. Very good location walked a lot to take in the city

Breakfast was the main draw back, if I was to stay again. I wouldn’t book breakfast. Very bland and the juices were not of a good quality, the breakfast area is too small for the amount of guests they have at a popular hotel. The staff on the omelette station bless him had patience and great customer service but he was against the odds with having 7-8 people lining up for omelettes and fried eggs whilst others are try to grab breakfast

The Midland was like stepping back in time. The lobby was beautiful and smelt lovely. We arrived early as we had afternoon tea booked in the tea room. So we were able to get into our room early as well. The Afternoon tea was amazing, and the staff were attentive to both my daughter and myself. We were there to celebrate my daughter’s 14th birthday and they made sure that this was acknowledged. Our room was lovely, especially liked the nespresso machine and complementary teas and water. The Elemis toiletries were an extra treat as I love Elemis products. Breakfast was lovely, with the staff being attentive and friendly. The Midland is central, and is accessible to most of the City. Very close to the palace theatre which was great as we were also going to see a show. Loved our 2 night break & have booked to come back later in the year.

Everything was lovely. However the window opening by itself whilst my daughter and I were in bed was quite interesting

3rd year in a row staying in this hotel with my sister for a girlie weekend away, absolutely stunning hotel, fabulous big room abd the smell when you walk in the hotel is si clean, relaxing and calm. Location is amazing and spa is stunning.

Never had an issue with this hotel but wasnt happy this year to be told we couldn't use the relaxation room in the spa as we hadnt booked a treatment, we would of gladly booked a treatment on the sunday but they didnt start until 10am and we had to be out of the room at 11 so didn't have time. We have used the relaxation room every other year while using the spa with no problem, i dont understand the reasoning behind stopping people as it doesnt cost the hotel anything extra.

On the whole the Midland went above and beyond to make our stay as wonderful as it was celebrating my daughters 21st birthday and mother's day weekend.

Very sadly the Rena Spa completely spoiled what was supposed to be a very memorable weekend for both me and my daughter by cancelling our soa package less than one hour before due. I understand staff illness cannot be helped but the fact that NOT ONCE DUD THE STAFF IN THE SPA OFFER TO HELP LOCATE OTHER VENUES FOR SIMILAR OR ANY TREATMENTS! Let's the Midland down terribly. Because of this only we very safely won't be returning in the future and will seek accommodation elsewhere

All the high quality you would expect for such a historically prestigious hotel. All the classic glamour with all the updates mod cons. Superior room was spacious and well provided and we thoroughly enjoyed the branded espresso machine in the room to treat ourselves to delicious pod coffees that were supplied with it. Gym is exceptionally resourced (if a little hard to fine) and I spent longer there than planned for this reason. House cocktails were also best I've had (though I'm not a regular cocktail drinker). Also all staff were readily available and very helpful when needed.

It’s a beautiful, grand hotel. Our room was clean with neutral decor. We loved the use of the Elemis products in the bathroom. Breakfast was good in the morning and the staff were lovely.

We struggled to warm up the room and it was very expensive for a 1 night stay.

Great Stay at the Midland Hotel – Just Avoid the Tram Side! I recently stayed at the Midland Hotel in Manchester for two nights while enjoying a weekend in the city, including seeing Peter Kay live. Overall, I had a very good experience at the hotel. From the moment I arrived, the check-in process was smooth and efficient, and the staff were welcoming. The bar area was lovely, with a great atmosphere to unwind in the evening. The location is fantastic, making it easy to explore the city and visit key attractions. The room itself was beautifully presented and very comfortable, but unfortunately, it was positioned on the side of the street where the trams run late into the night and start up again early in the morning (6 AM – 1 AM). This made for a very poor night's sleep, and we had to raise a complaint the next day. To the hotel's credit, they were very accommodating and moved us to another room, where we couldn’t hear the trams at all. Despite this initial issue, I would definitely stay at the Midland Hotel again, but I would make sure to request a room away from the tram line for a quieter experience. ⭐ Overall Rating: 4/5 – A wonderful hotel, great service, and perfect location, just be mindful of the tram noise if you’re a light sleeper!

Check in was very good. I stay here a lot and check in can be a bit hit to miss. The young gentleman was very friendly, helpful and accommodating. It was very nice to see that.

Once in the room, I tried to ring reception but no answer for almost an hour, I had to ring the hotel, just ask if I could get a tooth brush, as I had forgotten mine. The lady who answered was rude and said, just come down for it. I said I was in my PJ's, would it be ok if they brought it up, I can wait if they are busy. She did end up agreeing reluctantly. The gentleman who brought the toothbrush upstairs, was very nice though
