Reception Room

The male bar tender aged about 26 on the 11th July around 11.30pm who asked my son what he would like to drink he then smirked at him and said I don’t think I want to serve you!

The room was amazing, clean bedding, clean room, bathroom. Breakfast was pure luxury - bacon, eggs, salmon, fresh breads and pastry, pots of coffee and tea, fresh juice, little jam jars, toast, cereal. Staff were first class and helpful. Staff looked after our cases before room was ready so we could go shopping. Customer service was pure luxury. Made you feel like film stars. Train inspired hotel with such fantastic surroundings. Thank you Midland, your décor, pool, sauna, food and rooms were the best. Better than Dubai.

That I couldn't stay longer. But we will be back I promise.

junior suite windows had cobwebs and dead spiders on (personally not bothered but girlfriend got scared upon seeing the spiders)

Perfect location for my needs. Good size rooms that were well cooled in a hot summer week. The bar area was a great atmosphere to sit and work in throughout the evening. Efficient check in and staff helpful with storing luggage for me

At check out I asked for an itemised invoice/bill. The staff member repeatedly declined to provide this stating that I had paid through B.com. Thats true but having stayed so many times with B.com I know that even when you provide the money to them the hotel gives you an itemised bill. Wgen the taff member referre me to the duty manager this was resolved in seconds. But had I not known how this worked I could have got left without a bill to expense

Central location, beautiful decor in the lobby and in the room, great staff very helpful with all questions or requests, everything worked great, very nice smelling shower gel/shampoo in the bathroom, clean room and new water/tea/coffee every day, and pretty good value for money (at the time of booking this historic 4* hotel was almost the same price as the Yotel down the street...so for £150 more for a week's stay we got a bathroom with real walls instead of a plastic divider, and enough space around 3 sides of the massive bed...very happy to recommend!

Rumbling of the tram outside the window from 6am until 1am next morning, and we were on the 6th floor, didn't expect to hear anything...it was a low noise not enough to wake you up and we could have asked to be moved to a room away from the front of the building, but we decided the hassle of moving wasn't worth it - just something to note if you are noise-sensitive, ask for a room away from the street.

We were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary and we were delighted to be upgraded to a Junior Suite. There was also a handwritten note in the room, Swans on the bed(!!!) and rose petals. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that Breakfast was included and we enjoyed two mornings of an extensive buffet. I should call out one of the waitresses, Bev, who couldn't have been more helpful on both mornings. We didn't have time to sample the Spa but we did make a second visit to Adam Reid at the French. It was as good, if not better, than 10 years ago. Absolutely outstanding. We even had a card handwritten by Adam, congratulating us. It is the little extra touches by the Hotel and the Restaurant that really made our visit special.

We were on the 5th floor facing Peter Street and we did here some noise outside on both nights - people obviously leaving the bars & clubs in the early hours. I should stress that this had nothing to do with the Hotel and is merely an observation. Also, at Breakfast, I had expected table service, but, the extensive buffet breakfast meant we had a much wider choice than we might have had if we had chosen from a menu.

A prime location close to everything in the city. Easy to walk wherever you wanna go either to enjoy the art and culture or just go out for a nice dinner and drinks. The property is very grand looking and you feel spoiled welcomed straight away. Really loved the gym space, you have everything you need for cardio or weight lifting, also the champagne bar is really lovely with a good selection of drinks and nibbles.

We have been lucky to have 1 complementary hour to use in the spa facilities but unfortunately the experience wasn’t relaxing at all. As soon as we walk into the heated pool and jacuzzi area there’s a family with 4 kids, running, screaming, swimming and cannon-ball diving into a heated pool (???) all of this surrendered by relaxing music that was covered by the shouting. If I was a paying customer that came specifically for the spa I’d have been absolutely fuming. Allowing such behaviours in a spa area is not really a good idea and I was very disappointed to see the staff just casually walking by without telling anyone to tone it down or just have a word with the parents in general.

Location, style

THE PARKING! This seems to be an issue for accommodation in UK, and it not being correctly stated on facilities on web site. Having stayed at several hotels while travelling with hire car, from having to park in public car park down the road to hotel, to the Midland where you parked in NCP car park down the road and again not informed till you check in. To get price advertised you have to download NCP app, no doubt then being bombarded with unwanted and unnecessary emails. Cost was exorbitant, so won't be staying again. Also why put small heated towel rail in bathroom that can't take 2 bath when wall big enough for lager one and 1 HOOK! Really. Again a common issue.

Location is perfect, full use of Elemis products in the hotel room. Staff are always amazing here and the hotel lobby always smells stunning. The bar area is so lovely and the food is very nice here! Stayed 10+ times and this is the hotel we always book! If you’re thinking of booking, book it! It won’t disappoint!!

Parking isn’t the best as it’s a little further down the road in a ncp car park. Don’t believe you get any discount for staying at the midland and parking in the ncp but could be wrong.. No where else to park surrounding either due to it being central city centre so don’t risk as our car got towed so have to pay for the ncp

Lovely hotel in the centre of Manchester which provided a good base for my parents who visited the city recently. The hotel itself has an interesting history, large bedrooms and good facilities. The staff were friendly and approachable; my parents particularly appreciated the help offered by the staff to carry my Dad's luggage since he walks with a stick and the free car parking spaces for blue badge holders available opposite the hotel proved useful. Afternoon tea was the best we've ever had, as was the breakfast.

Whilst the bedroom was large, it was a bit dull due to a comparatively small window, in front of which was the TV. Otherwise, all very good!
