The hotel location is perfect and close to the event is was attending over the weekend. Staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient, and i could not fault the service provided. Breakfast options were really good, and the food and drinks were some of the best I have had. Options of TV channels in the room were some of the best I have seen anywhere.

The room looked tired, and I would say it needs some work carried out. Air conditioning was very noisy while in use, marks on the walls in the bedroom and bathroom, the mini fridge was not chilling drinks very cold, the flooring was coming up in the bathroom corners. No free water was provided in the room, which you would expect at a hotel of this standard. I was going to use the gym but was disappointed with the size of the gym and the facilities available. Therefore, I did not use the gym while at the hotel.

I've stayed at the Malmaison three times, so I guess that is my seal of approval. The location is perfect for the part of Manchester I am visiting. I like the quirky decor inside - no white box rooms here. Rooms are well equipped with a high level of quality to the fixtures and fittings, and plenty of 'extras' too. Plug sockets are everywhere, and they have USB sockets too. But rooms are very different, because the building is an older one that has been repurposed. I've stayed in three rooms now, and each one was a different shape. The corridors meander, and some rooms are tucked away up curious little tributaries. Best of all is the Breakfast, with a good range to choose from and hot food cooked fresh to your order

finding your way around your floor can be challenging because of the quirky layout. But put this down as 'character' and not complaint.

I was on the 5th floor. Nice room, large for 2 people but missing a miini fridge. Good location, 5min from Picadilly station 15-20min to St Peter's square and close to trams and buses with easy access to the free bus as well. Access to spa on the lower ground floor that offers treatments but no wet room or swimming pool. Great breakfast and nice dinner menu (didn't have lunch so not sure if same menu as dinner menu)- nice cocktail. Staff were really nice

No fridge in the room. Also, was asked the 1st day for breakfast about allergies and I mentioned i was allergic to kiwi and was told there was none in the fruit salad. day 2, i was not asked about allergies but when I went to get some fruit salad, I saw 2 slides of kiwis so didn't get any but just thought that if someone before be had got the kiwi slices, I wouldn't have known and it might have been bad. Worth clarifying what's in the bols in self-services to avoid any issues.

Overall it was a nice stay - On arrival we were greeted by a lovely lady on reception who gave us the information we needed - we went to our room and on entry room was okay although could have been cleaner as there were marks in the toilet and dust in places - As we were celebrating my mum’s 60th Birthday we were given 2 complimentary drinks vouchers which I thought was a lovely gesture - Breakfast each morning was fresh and tasty and set us up for the day (good value for money) - unfortunately we didn’t have a great experience at the bar! The first cocktails we had were very nice so we had another. I ordered a cosmopolitan(my favourite cocktail) which wasn’t on the menu but it is a classic cocktail and therefore I knew it shouldn’t be an issue. After having a few sips it started to make my tongue sore which I knew was because it was too citrusy(too much lemon/lime juice). I asked the bartender if I could have something different as it wasn’t nice and he never apologised he just nodded. A lady made me another but then proceeded to try and charge me for it which I was very shocked at. I explained my reasoning and she then tried to say it should taste like that(even though she’d not tried it) and I said that I have them often and know what’s in them and then she carried on to say ‘like I said it’s meant to be like that just so you know for next time’. I found this extremely rude and if I’m honest I didn’t expect to receive that level of customer service. The cocktails are £12 each and I felt it’s a waste of money if I cannot drink it. If it had taste nice I would have had no issues in drinking it - Anyway, apart from that, the location, facilities and service were good but could be better if the points mentioned are addressed. Would recommend a stay if visiting Manchester!

Clean and comfortable, good location.

The shower was terrible, I nearly got 3rd degree burns the water was that hot (literally steam coming from the shower head). Left the cold tap running for at least 5 minutes but it obviously didn't work, by that time I had to get ready quickly and no time to let downstairs know about the problem before check out. So I skipped a shower that morning until I got home. When I told the receptionist she had the cheek to say it was probably human error and looked at me like I was an idiot. It was a hot and cold tap for temperature, not rocket science. So thought that was a bit cheeky... Apart from that the facilities were basic, but did the trick.

Property was lovely, lots of facility’s to use at the hotel, gym, restaurant, bar, coffee shop ect The lady that checked me in at 5/6pm was lovely and very informative. Very smiley. The rooms were fantastically decorated and VERY clean. Loved the robes and espresso coffee machine in the room,

I felt that some of the reception staff on the other days was quite intimidating as I felt awkward to approach the desk. (They were NOT horrible or rude) it is just the serious face and glare as you walk through reception with the eyes. The bath was a bit bizarre as the taps were outside the bath behind the screen so was quite awkward to refill or add more cold, and the plug wasn’t sealed properly so took a few attempts to close for bath, The tv was a bit on the blink at times as the chrome cast wouldn’t always connect.

I loved the decor which made it feel very chilled and like u was in an expensive environment. It made me feel very relaxed and calm from the moment I walked into the hotel. Location was absolutely perfect for us for where we were eating to where we went on the evening, everything was in close proximity along with the car park we parked on.

Only comments we have is about making sure there are enough milk sachets for the amount of guests vs how many hot drinks you are likely to make save having to request anymore. Also, if there was a way to have some ambient lighting in the bathroom for when you want to use the bathroom in the night at the light can be quite harsh when you’re half asleep.

I have not used the 'Malmaison' brand before because I did not consider it affordable. But in looking for a hotel I found this one at a price comparable to one I had used twice before. The Malmaison had the advantage because it was better located. On entering the Malmaison the difference was immediate. The style and ambience was not like a hotel at all, and the staff were most welcoming. On entering my room the feeling of superiority was reinforced, and I just loved the 'jazzy' decor; no white box here. The thoughtful design of the bathroom was brilliant with things arranged so that the WC was discrete. The bath/shower worked very well; a bit too well in fact because I flooded the floor. I reported this to reception because it was too much for me to deal with. This was fixed without fuss. In the morning, I was treated to a breakfast cooked to order - amazing. No queueing at a counter to spoon on artificial eggs, cheap beans, dried up hash browns etc. I ordered Eggs Royale, which is my favourite, and this was on my table before I had even chosen my cereal bowl. Even the cereal provision was both stylish and colourful with the possibility to make a very eclectic bowlful. Friendly helpful staff who efficiently navigated choices on a Tablet - no tired menu with curly edges to choose from

I didn't like that I didn't have a need to stay a second night.

Very nice room, very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived early expecting to leave our bags and come back later to check in but the helpful receptionist allowed us to check in early because they had a room ready. The room was very quiet and comfortable with everything we needed including separate coffee machine and kettle.

Piccadilly Gardens is very close by and it is as bad as its reputation suggests. We walked back from the AO Arena late at night and there were a lot of quite menacing looking people lurking around but quite a big police presence, which was reassuring. I think you do need to bear this in mind if travelling alone or with children, if you’re planning to be out in the evening. Manchester city centre is generally fine but the Piccadilly gardens area in particular is very seedy at night.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Malmaison. It was very central & easy to find from the train station Few mins walk into the main centre What I loved most was my room. The interior, the amenities in the room The smart tv I could chromecast Yea & coffee station - vanity pack in the bathroom, heated towel rails in the bathroom Had an iron, a safe , a blow dryer everything you could actually need. Oh and it had a vanity mirror with adjustable light tones used that when doing my make up Had a single sofa chair also I really loved my room, I will definitely be going back.

I’m not sure I had anything I didn’t like about this property on this stay
