The breakfast is amazing, the best we had in 13 stays in Portugal! There was yogurt, cereal, fresh and dried fruits, natural juice, jams, breads and assorted sweet delicacies, cold cuts, great coffee, etc etc. The room was nice and comfortable with 2 windows facing the central square, Very kind staff!

The restaurant, by the same owner, is highly recommended, and we were very anxious to try it. But we didn't have dinner there because, despite the night and the outside temperature being very pleasant, all the windows were closed and, unfortunately, the terrace was not open.

Excellent hotel and hosts. We had entire house to ourselves and we had dinner at the owner Chef Thomas's restaurant which was excellent traditional food. Location is perfect for getting to a couple of famous Quinta's on 30 mins drive and in a village situated on a hill with beautiful views of the Duoro valley. Mr Thomas and his team provided excellent service including nice breakfast in the morning. He helped us with our route planning to Lisbon . Property itself is clean, safe and modern.

Very luxurious rooms, bright and clean bathroom, amazing breakfast (eggs we could boil to our liking, a lot of home-made jams, orange juice we could freshly make, cereal, nuts, …), very friendly and helpful staff. The village is in hiking distance to a few Quintas and the views are breathtaking.

The only thing that would have made the room even more pleasant would be an outside area: there was a French balcony but nothing to sit on. But that’s absolutely fine. Maybe some more bread options for breakfast.

Absolutely everything, especially the little details and warm welcoming. The food was fantastic, Thomas is an excellent chef. The room was big and had a large bed with a good mattress. The stuff were the best part, it made our stay at the Douro Valley better.

Everything. Charming hotel in sweet village 20 mins from Pinhao. Excellent reception and staff. Building beautifully restored, overlooking a park. Free, easy street parking in front. Excellent breakfast. Self service laundry less than 2 short blocks from the hotel was a boon!

Amazing little place in a small town. Lovely room, clean and comfy, helpful staff. Extensive breakfast, nice garden too. Owners Thomas and Fatima Egger also run an great restaurant in town, within walking distance, also highly recommended.

We were looking for a place to stay for only one night, so our expectations weren't too high in general. Casa dos Ruis was a pleasant surprise. The room and house was spacious, clean, modern, well equipped and centrally located. Breakfast was really yummy with a big variety. The rate was affordable, too. We decided to have dinner in the restaurant by the owners and got to meet Fátima and Thomas personally there. The food was great, too. All in all a great stay for our plans.

The family suite room was very spacious, clean, and had a perfect vibe of "casa rural". The bathroom was large and modern. The host was very chill and friendly. We could park in front of the hotel, which made things much easier. The croissants they served at the breakfast buffet were the closest to the French croissants I've had in the entire trip in Portugal! (I've been desperately looking for one)

I wouldn't really fault the accommodation but it would've been absolutely perfect if there was a refrigerator in the suite for convenience (although there was a small common refrigerator in the common area downstairs).

Wonderful cozy hotel with very friendly staff. Spacious room, comfortable bed, cleanliness and everything you need included. Delicious breakfast. The location is in a very quiet and picturesque place.

A small minus: not all rooms overlook the mountains, we got a view of the courtyard.

If you are looking for an accommodation in Tabuaço or anywhere in the Douro valley, search no further! Casa dos Ruis is offering more than you can expect! We stayed in this family hotel for two nights and were sorry to leave so soon! We booked two suite rooms. One for my parents and second us (my husband and me). One suite had the spacious living room with the sofa and the table where our family could meet during our stay. The both rooms are very comfortable and quiet. The highlight of the stay was the outstanding breakfast with selection which you would hardly expect for this size of the hotel. Everything was perfectly fresh, tasty and we completely loved the offer of the bread and pastry. The staff is exceptionally friendly and going an extra mile in all of the aspects! The owners Thomas and Fátima have their own restaurant just a little walk from the accommodation. The chef Thomas is incredibly friendly and always on top of everything. He and his staff prepared a real culinary experience for us which made us to book the table for dinner next day as well.
