Location and staff were perfect.

All good. However, it would have been great if there had been a lounge chair in the room and more space on the dressing table top.

An historic, beautifully and tastefully decorated hotel in the heart of Kirkby Lonsdale. Our bedroom overlooking the square was spotlessly clean, in excellent condition, well decorated and well furnished. The hotel bar is large, comfortable and well stocked. Unfortunately, we did not dine in the hotel other than to have breakfast, which was delicious and plentiful. The staff are very competent and extremely helpful which became very apparent when our car broke down and had to be recovered on the day we checked out of the hotel. We were allowed to store our baggage while we waited for a courtesy car to be delivered which was not without its issues. The hotel management even kindly offered us a room for that night and reduced rates if it became necessary. One item to note, the hotel itself does not have any parking available. There is a pay car park within easy walking distance (1 minute).

No car parking on the hotel grounds. There are public car parks within easy walking distance. I paid £21 for 3 days car parking, which sounds a lot, however, I have paid £18 per 24 hours stay in some hotel car parks.

This was a last minute replacement for a cancellation that was caused by overbooking (Booking.com's fault, according to the landlord). Fortunately, the replacement hotel turned out to be quite lovely and the breakfast was great. We had dinner in the restaurant as well, and that was very nice too. The bed was comfortable and the shower was was nice and strong though I missed having a handheld. Parking was available outside the hotel in the market square and free from 18:00 to 08:00. Market day is Thursday so parking might be an issue on Wednesday night, but we were there on a Friday night. The staff were very helpful. There was an elevator and a menu of dog treats. So cute.

Not the hotel's fault, but they were not in my originally planned location, which meant I had to change my plans a bit. But overall, we enjoyed our stay in the hotel.

This was a great stop-off on our way from the West Country to Scotland, and it's fantastic that its' dog-friendly. We had a room at the front, facing onto the market square. We were slightly concerned that we'd be woken early by the market being set up, but we needn't have worried - somehow, it had all magically appeared and we'd slept through. The room was very comfortable, with a great shower and L'Occitane products. Breakfast in the elegant restaurant was delicious. Staff were friendly and we were delighted that our dog was made so welcome. We parked free by Devil's Bridge and it didn't take much more than five minutes to walk from there with our dog, two suitcases and a couple of bags. The very central location meant that we were able to explore Kirkby Lonsdale in the evening. All in all, a great start to our trip.

The staff were welcoming friendly and nothing was too much trouble . The food we had in the bar was very nice and the breakfast was excellent . The hotel was very comfortable and nicely decorated . We love Kirby Lonsdale the purpose of our visit this time was to attend a wedding.

The hotel doesn’t have its own car park and the Car park charges (£21 for 3 days) a little excessive if you are staying just 1 night , even though they have been reduced since our last visit a few years ago when it was (36 for 3 days) hence why we haven’t been since . The Car Park doesn’t have an overnight fee it goes from 4 hours -3 days . However I suppose it’s not much different to most places now - although it does put you off when it was your favourite place to stay over and you’re paying 3 times more to park your car . Maybe the hotel could negotiate a discount for their guests ?

Beautiful hotel, tastefully decorated nice touches such as bottled water and quality toiletries. Food was superb, good breakfast choices, freshly cooked and served to table. Booked for evening dinner, delicious fish pie, goats cheese pizza, nice choices of beers and wine. Location , central to shops, pubs, the brewery, easy access to natural beauty spots such as Devils Bridge.

Summer time, so room was very warm, a fan provided but needs air con. No fridge to keep water or drinks cool. Our room, room 7, had light coloured blinds, no curtains, so the room wasn't dark enough.

The staff in the restaurant and breakfast area were extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was nice. However, the portions for the evening meal we had were pretty small. The hotel was clean and the tea making facilities were good.

The lack of parking was a big issue. It cost £23 to pay for one night on the single public carpark. When I checked in the lady on reception was quite abrupt and rude and had absolutely no knowledge of public parking. I have stayed at other hotels in Kirkby Lonsdale and they provide overnight car parking vouchers. As stated the receptionist was very unwelcoming and offered no scope to check in before 3pm. I booked 2 rooms and the TV was faulty in both.

Grand old hotel with lots of character and beautiful lounge and dining areas. Bedroom was large and very comfortable Very good breakfast menu. The hotel is in the middle of Kirkby Lonsdale is a lovely small town

No arrangement for car parking, I have stayed in plenty of other hotels were sensible arrangement has been made with the local authority to enable parking in nearby public car parks. Only other thing to criticise is that the breakfast eggs were over cooked.

The staff were excellent and the hotel oozed character. The food was beyond amazing. The room was clean and brilliantly presented, although the bathroom decor was a little tired, this added to the character. (The following night we stayed at a different hotel in a different location which being nearly new was soulless and we could have been anywhere in any number of chain hotels.)

The decor in the bathroom had seen better days, but this added o the charm and character of the hotel.

Virtually everything. Overall, the style and decor of the hotel was excellent. Our room was great, with a lovely view over the market square, a large comfy bed and lots of storage space. Spacious bathroom. Plenty of choice for breakfast with several egg options (Benedict etc.), the full Cumbrian and veggie alternative, smoked salmon, smoked haddock. We ate in one night and were not disappointed with a shared starter of haloumi fries, roast pork Sunday lunch and seafood tagliatelle. Very tasty and not over pricey. Pleasant staff.

Dinner service was faultless, but breakfast less so, with a less focused approach. Although our bathroom was lovely, there was some signs of wear and tear (e.g. peeling wallpaper).
