Location and staff were perfect.

All good. However, it would have been great if there had been a lounge chair in the room and more space on the dressing table top.

Beautiful hotel, tastefully decorated nice touches such as bottled water and quality toiletries. Food was superb, good breakfast choices, freshly cooked and served to table. Booked for evening dinner, delicious fish pie, goats cheese pizza, nice choices of beers and wine. Location , central to shops, pubs, the brewery, easy access to natural beauty spots such as Devils Bridge.

Summer time, so room was very warm, a fan provided but needs air con. No fridge to keep water or drinks cool. Our room, room 7, had light coloured blinds, no curtains, so the room wasn't dark enough.

The staff in the restaurant and breakfast area were extremely nice and helpful. The breakfast was nice. However, the portions for the evening meal we had were pretty small. The hotel was clean and the tea making facilities were good.

The lack of parking was a big issue. It cost £23 to pay for one night on the single public carpark. When I checked in the lady on reception was quite abrupt and rude and had absolutely no knowledge of public parking. I have stayed at other hotels in Kirkby Lonsdale and they provide overnight car parking vouchers. As stated the receptionist was very unwelcoming and offered no scope to check in before 3pm. I booked 2 rooms and the TV was faulty in both.

The staff were excellent and the hotel oozed character. The food was beyond amazing. The room was clean and brilliantly presented, although the bathroom decor was a little tired, this added to the character. (The following night we stayed at a different hotel in a different location which being nearly new was soulless and we could have been anywhere in any number of chain hotels.)

The decor in the bathroom had seen better days, but this added o the charm and character of the hotel.

Virtually everything. Overall, the style and decor of the hotel was excellent. Our room was great, with a lovely view over the market square, a large comfy bed and lots of storage space. Spacious bathroom. Plenty of choice for breakfast with several egg options (Benedict etc.), the full Cumbrian and veggie alternative, smoked salmon, smoked haddock. We ate in one night and were not disappointed with a shared starter of haloumi fries, roast pork Sunday lunch and seafood tagliatelle. Very tasty and not over pricey. Pleasant staff.

Dinner service was faultless, but breakfast less so, with a less focused approach. Although our bathroom was lovely, there was some signs of wear and tear (e.g. peeling wallpaper).

The bedroom was spacious and comfortable. There was a plug in heater which seemed to work well as the weather was rather cold despite it being summer. The room had a deep "square" bath, which was rather unusual and might present problems for anyone with mobility issues. Although we were a bit concerned about hotel food we were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food both at dinner and at breakfast. Food was hot, well presented and tasty and the waiting staff were very obliging. The hotel is quite quirky, in a good location and we would stay again. There is no parking but there are car parks close by and you can get a space at Booths (food store) for free for one hour. Would recommend.

Maybe a few more seating areas for hotel residents. There was a small guest lounge but it was usually full. But this is a space issue and I understand there are limitations. Otherwise we were happy with the hotel.

This was our third stay at this hotel in the last year and we would not go back if it wasn't good. Our room on this occasion was smaller than previous but still well fitted out with a very good bathroom. We had both dinner and breakfast in the hotel and they were very good served by friendly efficient staff. All round we had an enjoyable stay and will be back in future.

There is nothing I could really complain about as it was what I had expected at a very reasonable price.

Although we only stayed one night, My wife and I really enjoyed our lovely meal at dinner in the restaurant. The bedroom was large and spacious, with very tasteful and nice furnishings. The bathroom was very large with a free standing bath and huge walk-in shower. The views from the bedroom windows to the hillside surround Kirkby was also really beautiful to look at while in bed.

Everything was fab.

Great meal in the evening. Food was excellent. Recommend the sea trout with rissoto. Good choice of ales. Breakfast also good. The room was spacious and well furnished. Overall very comfortable in the centre of the town opposite the market place. An added bonus was the lift to the 1st floor.

Parking can be an issue especially on Wednesday, going into Market Day Thursday. No issues at all with the hotel.

Beautiful room, location great

In the lounge restaurant in the evening where our table was for dinner there was a wedding party. It was very noisy and cramped, I thought it was inappropriate to put other residents in the same room as there was plenty of room in the other restaurant. My actual meal was disappointing, I had one small piece of chicken with salad and a massive portion of fries, it looked like a child’s portion apart from the fries which I don’t eat .
