Great location. I have stayed here a few times over the last 10 years and watched it grow into a cash cow with something for everyone. Pool is clean and inviting. Tiki restaurant rocks. Great view from every room overlooking the channel and bay. I will be back. :)
The kayak rental guy was on vacation. lol

I,as always, liled the personal tough on the customer services. I soon as I entered the parking lot I let Rafael know I was staying in a family room. He moved the cone so I could back in. When I entered the office I was greeted with a smile. I was given my room cards, pool wristbands and offered towels, and was pointed in the direction to my room. My room was, as always, clean and prepared. Soaps shower gel and hair conditioner stocked and displayed nicely. I have yet to enter any room I have stayed in that was not what I expected. The t.v. was properly working with the internet strong. The food was excellent with excellent customer service from my waiter and food runner. Both being polite and informative about what was offered and recommended favorites. The pool was beautiful. The scent of chlorine was there but not strong. Just enough to let you know that crystal clear water was tended to. With the kids back in school there was more.adults than children, which at times, is nice and peaceful. But the resort is family oriented and have yet to have an issue with children as the resort has a roving monitor that looks for wristbands and asks if everything is OK. I appreciate that attention and sense of someone making sure the pool gets a walk thru to assure all is on the up-and-up. Yoli in the office was kind and smiling from ear to ear proud to know her patrons were having a good time. She advised us of the hours and was remidnful of getting wristbands for the next day. The sunrises.and sunsets were beautiful and picturesque as always. It was hot and appreciated that our room's ac was up to the task. The coffee maker worked properly as always and was lovely to have for the morning go juice to engage the day. The complimentary breakfast goes so far beyond what other resorts offer. The attendant brewed a cup of coffee that rivaled my own recipe and the fresh fruit, spread and orange juice made it unnecessary for us to have lunch.
Nothing. No issues whatsoever

I mist liked the assistance of the stall. Yoli, mostly at the front desk, always greets with a wonderful smile, was able to assist me with an issue, make recommendations on good places nearby if the amenities onsite were not what I was looking for, let me know the times of the breakfast, notified me if the resorts policy and more. This is valuable for me to witness as the synergy with outer staff members, restaurants, and onsite security acts as the foundation of peace of mind for a traveler that is in a new place and establishes trust right away. The while staff is helpful, courteous and ready to assist. The pool, tiki bar and restaurant, proximity to great places to visit and the proximity of expeditions make this my "go to" resort. The beach is beautiful and the sunrises and sunsets are spectacularly romantic. I continue to be of thanks for all this resort offers and am not surprised to have talked to a nice couple that frequents this location once a year for three decades.

Everyone from the receptionist to the man guiding traffic were professional, had no pause in answering my questions and were dressed the part. The onsite pool, restaurants, live entertainment, parking, cabanas, and docks were too notch. The room we stayed in (2nd floor) was clean upon checking in, a/c cooled properly, t.v. worked well, and the views were fantastic. This resort is one that you could have, if desired, stayed onsite without moving your car the whole duration. Food options from the onstie amenities were delicious, priced reasonably and the staff were thoroughly impressive pointing out the hours for areas, the requirements needed and how to go about the s.o.p. to used the pool and cabanas. This is one of those resorts that you could be married at. Breathtaking sunrises, sunsets could only be eclipses by the presence, but not overbearing nature, of security. Not just security guards...I'm taking armed and trained police and sheriffs. It made me feel safe and secure at all times. And although with enough booze things can get out of hand from time to time, there were no incidents, arrests or bad behavior. A true R&R destination if you are looking for a place to never leave through your visit if that's your choice. The onsite coffee bar was excellent and delicious. Even when we were packing up our vehicle to leave, (3 a.m.), there was presence of security and nobody hanging around. Everyone had that unwritten rule of courtesy and I was never woke up by loud and out of control guests. In fact the guests were courteous and jovial happy to answer and interact with me personally. I'd say I met atleats a dozen of nice, family oriented couples, as well as respectful young children happy to hold the door for you and smile. I plan on making this my "go to" because it's amazing. I have been visiting the keys for years.
Nothing. You have to understand that the keys in June is little different, a bit better due to seabreezes, than the mainland. Be prepared with sunscreen, and hydrate. Even if you forget something..the reception desk has LOTS of essentials making the the trip almost just bring yourself and we got the rest.

This is a hidden gem of the Keys! The rooms have been updated and are very clean, with comfortable beds and great AC! Every room looks out onto the water!! The entire property is fabulous, I spent the entire morning just walking around taking pictures. There is a small beach, with a special cabana area for hotel guests. It has a huge covered patio and bar area- great drinks and everything we had to eat was really good. Even if you end up staying somewhere else, it's an amazing place to stop and hang out. There's live music on the weekends, but we were there on a Tuesday. The complimentary breakfast and coffee was just enough to get our day started right. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend!!!
I liked everything about the property!!

Its was relaxing. Service was good at Tiki. We enjoyed our stay. The lovely lady that services the breakfast is a delight. The young ladies at the front desk were also very nice. The property had everything we needed for a relaxing family weekend.
King suite probably should have some staples. Plates, Napkins or maybe coffee cups. There were only 2 cups left in room for a room that sleeps 6-8 ppl. Also only flavored coffee was left in room. The staircase leading up to the suite was filthy. The patio outside the suites needed to be hosed off. The public restroom outside was filthy also. Room keys kept getting inactivated. I think the front desk staff needs more training on that. Everytime we went to reactivate a key it disabled all the others. So that was a bit of a pain.

The resort is well situated (though not in walking distance to places outside the resort). The room was clean and had a gorgeous view over the waterfront. The chairs on the terrace to be able to sit outside the room were a nice touch. The bathroom was slightly dated but functional. The coffee machine and fridge in the room were appreciated. There was a good amount of storage space and the room was a nice size. The cabana area and service were excellent. There is a nice small private beach. The bar/restaurant is also nice although it would be good to have some daily specials to liven up the menu. Also, some drinks (cocktails/wine) were on the expensive side, although the 10% off voucher for resident guests helped. It was also nice to have access to jet ski and kayak rental from third parties in the resort grounds. The hotel went above and beyond with the room arrangements to make the last night of mine and my husband's honeymoon special.
The room/bathroom could be updated slightly which would make the stay feel even better value for money. It would be good for the wine prices to be added to the menu so these do not come as a shock. Also, the bellini and mimosa were listed on the brunch menu as being $8 but I was charged $12. When questioned, staff said $12 was correct (which is more in keeping with the pricing of other cocktails on the menu) so it appears the prices on the brunch menu need updating. The drinks in the vending machine were a year out of date but the bar staff replaced with equivalents from the bar when this was brought to their attention.

Consistently consistent. Good food, good music, good vibes, great service and beautiful atmosphere. Rooms were clean and everything functioned properly. My go to. Monroe County sheriff's making their presence known. Nobody got out-of-line. Yoli was of great help to me as I closed my door or (2) or (3) different occasions. She too carr of it. I miss Gilberts already
Nothing for me to dislike. Now that school is going back in session the pool was a bit more chill..but its a family resort so you have to expect the kids.

We have been coming to Gilbert's for over 20 + years and it is always a great atmosphere we love it there. This is the first time we rented for the weekend and let me tell you it was a great experience. We were celebrating our anniversary. Yoli at front desk was exceptional with check in and answered our question very professional. The food, drinks, service, atmosphere, and the rooms very clean and all around a great experience. We got a cabana and wow what peace and tranquility I forgot we were in the keys. You get the best of both worlds because they have live music on the weekends so you can rock the night away and then enjoy the next day peacefully

Loved the room, it was small but clean and comfortable. The room had a water view, which was nice, but no shears, just room darkening shades. After a couple of days we realized that the outside of the windows had a mirrored finish so during the day you could not see in from the outside, but in the evenings, you had to put the shades down, so no view. When we arrived (on a Sunday) the resort was packed. There is a huge Tiki bar and music and it appeared from the crowds of people, the place to be for weekends. It is only this way on weekends, the rest of the week it was quiet. The pool area was nice, but the pool lounges were hard plastic and not very comfortable.
The bathroom was updated and nice, but small and it had a pedestal sink. There was a glass shelf above the sink but very little room for bathroom supplies. The bathroom door had fixed louvers, so not much privacy regarding sounds and smells. The provided bath towels were small and thin and wash cloths were very thin and rough, no hand towels provided. We paid extra for the daily breakfast, but it was not great. After one day, we went out for breakfast the rest of the week.
