Hotel Palazzo Grillo, was outstanding and one of our favourite destinations ever. The whole package, the architecture of the hotel, the tasteful renovation and conversion from a Palace into a Hotel, the feeling of space in the communal areas such as the Lounge and staircases. Each storey is so high but we took the stairs to our room on the third floor because the stairs are so beautiful. Also the staff and breakfast were first class. In Summary one of our favourite hotels ever and not expensive for the standard of accomodation provided. Thank You - Colin & Karen

Nothing it was perfect.

Very comfortable room and beautiful interiors; felt like a very modern hotel compared to a lot of the older more simple accomodation available. Hotel staff were very helpful and we were able to park the car in a private car park. We got a hotel organised shuttle to take our luggage to the car park

The distance from the car park to the hotel is significant when you have large suitcases. The hotel does offer a shuttle to pick you up; I didn’t know about this when we first got there and we walked through some less attractive/unsafe areas to find the hotel. Was a bit hard to find hotel initially but once we were there it was great. If we’d caught the shuttle I am sure we wouldn’t have had this initial opinion.

Absolutely gorgeous hotel, a wonderfully tasteful renovation of a Genovese Palazzo. The foyer, lounge, staircases and terrace are all marvellous. As was our room, minimally decorated, but with wonderfully finished lime plastered walls, it was roomy with high ceilings and a lovely view out on the piazza below. Great bathroom, fantastic shower and the comfiest bed we have ever slept in. Fantastic staff also, five stars for everything!

I couldn’t fault anything about the property itself, but be aware Genoa old town is a bit shall we say “gritty”. It’s not without it’s charm, and lots of the shops and cafés are fantastic. However I would say that it may not be for everyone!

Cool modern hotel constructed inside a Renaissance palace in the historic centre, with access to one large salone from the original design. Breakfast room tucked into the attic but in good weather you can eat on the terrace, and come back 24-7 for snacks. Staff very helpful, printed documents I needed for work, prebooked a cab, moved our bags when we switched rooms. One floor of the palazzo is cut off from the hotel and used as an art gallery, but it's accessible some days and has interesting frescoes.

When we upgraded to a "junior suite" the room was a bit small and narrow, though we enjoyed extras like bathrobes. Because it is a rambling old building there are very few rooms with glorious views of the square. The great lounge (the historic salone) was sometimes booked for conferences so not 100% available for hotel residents.

This is a palazzo in Genoa that lives up to it's promise. Wondering the (very) narrow alleys of Genoa was a bit of a shock at first but once you get used to it - it's simply magical. The place itself blew our mind - great attention to details and great quality of everything. The staff were amazing and attentive. Don't miss the roof-top. The city of Genoa is mesmerizing with plenty of action and things to eat/drink/see.

This is a very beautiful hotel! Very impressive when you enter, the design is impeccable and a perfect mix of modern and ancient romantic Italian architecture. Room very clean. They had a lot of nice things in the room, teas, sodas, lotions etc. It really felt like a luxury experience. It looks out on a square that is so magical, even had a lot of ambience when it was raining in the winter. On the second floor and at the entrance there is a lounge where you can read lots of design and travel books. There was a heat/ac machine in the room that worked well. Staff very helpful. I wished I could stay here longer.

If you have a lot of heavy stuff it is a bit hard to reach because taxis do not arrive there, it is a pedestrian area. Also it is better to arrive during the day because it can be disorienting if you do not know the city (kind of like a labyrinth). The bed was not the comfiest, a bit saggy, and too close to the window but it may have just been my room.

A lovely hotel in a beautifully restored building. Excellent staff including reception, housekeeper and breakfast staff. Very friendly, helpful and obliging. Good sized room which was elegantly appointed and furnished. Nice bathroom with OK shower. Breakfast was stunningly good, with freshly squeezed orange juice and eggs 3 different ways, as well as a host of other choices, all served in a rooftop breakfast room and terrace.Old town location is perfect. Highly recommended.

Bed was a bit saggy.

Breakfast on the rooftop was wonderful. The location in the centre of the old town we thought was great. So interesting and scenic. It might not be to everyone's taste as it was rather seedy in parts but we enjoyed it. The hotel itself was historic and the restoration was sensitive to the heritage of the building, retaining its charm but providing modern comforts overall.

While the restoration of the hotel was excellent in the main areas, the room was very stark and basic in appearance and facilities.

A beautiful restoration of an historic property right in the center of the city center. The modern design aesthetic blending with the historic architecture was artfully done. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We had an extraordinary experience!

It’s a little tricky finding the property for a first time visitor to Genoa, but that’s because web based mapping doesn’t work well in the historic center of the city. Once we found our way the staff was very helpful guiding us to the places we wanted to go.

This renovated 1545 palazzo is a gorgeous gem in a small piazza. Not that easy to get to because it is only open to pedestrian traffic, but the hotel staff was very communicative in helping us find parking nearby and has a tuktuk or will send a taxi to collect you and bring you to the hotel. Once you are familiar with its location, it is a short 5-7 minute walk to the parking so very convenient for exploring the narrow streets that hold many delightful restaurants and shops. The renovation of the hotel was thoughtful and inspired, honoring the historic aspects like high plastered and frescoed ceilings combined with modern conveniences. Linens and towels were luxurious, the staff was so friendly and helpful! The breakfast on the 5th floor roof top was plentiful and a great variety.

there was nothing we would change! our room was a two story space with large windows much comfort. The location was great for walking to and viewing many beautiful sculptures and works of art in the city.
