I loved everything, the bed and the pillow were perfect, also al the space to put stuff around the inside part of the bed. The bathroom were perfectly clean all the time, even the probates ones, and so modern. The common areas really well designed, with different spaces to relax or use your laptop. The staff were really amazing. The rooms were pretty big and the individual locker as well, you can put at least two or three small backpacks. Also I loved the cafe inside the hotel, plenty of options if you want to stay in.

I think having a private bathroom in a 4-person room is great, but only if everyone in the room knows each other. If you're a solo traveler sharing the room with other solo travelers, it can be a bit uncomfortable because of the smells and sounds. Also, when assigning solo travelers to mixed dorms, it would be helpful to try and balance the genders a bit. For example, as a solo female traveler, it can feel uncomfortable or even unsafe to be placed in a 4-person room with only male roommates during the whole stay.

I stayed at Generator and absolutely loved it! I’m a solo female traveler from Brazil and felt really welcomed. The accommodations are clean and comfortable — I stayed in a mixed dorm with 5 other people and it was totally fine. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and the vibe of the place is great. There’s a bar, common areas to hang out, bikes for rent right outside, and even a little techno party for when you want to go out but stay close. The only thing to note is that the hostel is about a 10-minute bike ride from the city center, and it’s located in the middle of a park with no lighting at night. It’s safe and quiet, but the dark path might feel a bit uncomfortable if you’re walking back alone. Other than that, I had an amazing stay and would definitely come back!

Very nice central, but it's in the park so you can talk a nice walk any time. Close to everything basically. I was on 3rd floor of the bed, I liked it because it had more privacy.

I forgot my jacket in the room, I asked 3 times the girl at reception desk to check it there. She said that cleaning lady probably put it separately. 15-20 minutes passed from my life waiting for nothing 😁 Luckily I become friends with one of my roommate, now ex-roommate and I asked him to check my jacket and of course it was still there. I mean how could the cleaning lady know, whose jacket is there? Like, there are people in the room still and there are multiple jackets. Bathroom is small, but ok for the price. No fridge to store food.

I stayed four nights on the third floor, had great sleep and felt good. It was quiet at night although we heard now and then some conversation from other rooms, but in general it was fine. The location is fine, too, as it is in a park a bit away from the centre, but still OK to walk to the main attractions. The room is simple but functional.

The floor in the room was not completely clean (dust). However, the bed was OK. Not sure whether lower floors provide the same level of separation from a bit noisy atmosphere at the ground floor. Would appreciate more egg variations for breakfast as only scrambled and to be honest not really tasty eggs were available.

Loved the location overlooking the park, felt very calm amongst the trees. Especially after being in the bustling city. Cool old building, lots of different types of lovely people, and atmosphere all round. Room is basic but all you need. My partner and I did get given a free drinks token each as it was my birthday, which was nice.

The bed was not very comfortable, it was like two put together (we had the king bed). With a very thin mattress, and every time I moved the metal base of the bed would pop one way and then the other (like bloody Rolf Harris on the wobble board!) -So that wasn’t great!! I will also add I forgot my adapter for my charger, so bought one at front desk for €10, used it once and it broke and they refused to look at it/refund it/ or at least give a replacement for the rest of our stay. Which was very disappointing, as it was overpriced in the first place. Don’t do that, buy a basic one for €5 ish from a corner shop etc. But I liked the way the room looked, it was basic but had everything we needed for our stay.

The location is just perfect and unique. In the middle of a park. The restaurant area is very nice and all areas o the hotel in general. Staff from the cafe was very friendly and proffesional and make amazing coffee and homemade croissants. The female dorm is good, safe and the beds are comfortable. The toilets are clean which is very important. Overall I had a nice stay. And I am willing to come back

The reception staff is not very friendly. The manager, an indian lady is very rude and I would say a little aggressive. Not great for a front-desk job. Also I arrived late at night and my bed was not made there was nothing not even a pillow. This is something that needs to be improved.

I stayed with my three sons in their Private 4-Bed Deluxe Room — it was perfect for us! The room was super spacious, clean, had air conditioning (a big plus!), two single beds and a bunk bed, plus our own private bathroom. Every bed had a reading light, a USB charging port, and a little table attached to the side — perfect for keeping your snacks, phone, book, or little notes right by your bed. So handy, especially with kids! They provide comfy pillows, duvets, and linen too. The hostel itself is set in a very cool building — it used to be a zoological university! It’s right next to Oosterpark, so we had gorgeous views and easy access to the park for walks and fresh air. And it’s not just about the rooms — Generator Amsterdam has a café for coffee and snacks, a lounge area for relaxing, and… At night, a little secret comes alive underground. The old boiler room turns into Oosterbar, a hidden club where beats take over and the energy gets electric. You’d never guess from the peaceful park surroundings what’s happening underneath!

Just a small tip: bring your own shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, face soap, hair dryer, and towel if you don’t want to pay extra for them at reception.

I really enjoyed my time here, the beds were comfortable and the room had big windows with views to the park. All the staff we're very nice and helpful. One thing to notice is the fact that they have a room for rental lockers so you can put your bags and still explore the city with ease. The location is not extremely central but they have bikes to rental, and many transports just a quick walk away, but if you like walking in 15/20 min you're in the center

I would like to suggest just that the rooms could be a bit more clean

I like the location. It's close to the city center, has good public transportation access, and easily accessible restaurants and supermarkets. I appreciate the hotel's facilities and the numerous common areas that encourage social interaction. I particularly enjoy the park surrounding the hotel and the large glass windows that offer views of the park.

I feel a bit cramped in this room, and I don’t have a proper place to organize my belongings. Amenities such as toiletries were not provided, and bath mats were absent. The need to rent towels added to the overall cost, which was already quite high.

I appreciate the hotel's facilities and the numerous common areas that encourage social interaction. I particularly enjoy the park surrounding the hotel and the large glass windows that offer views of the park.

The rooms, particularly the four- and six-bedroom options, felt rather small. The six-bedroom room included a triple-bunk bed with inconvenient stairs, leading to frequent bumps and limited space for hanging clothes. Furthermore, basic amenities such as toiletries were not provided, and bath mats were absent. The need to rent towels added to the overall cost, which was already quite high, possibly due to the New Year's period. While the price was elevated, the level of service felt rather standard.
