The facilities are traditional but look impeccable and well preserved. It offers high quality comfort. The staff is incredibly helpful and friendly, plus the breakfast is plentiful. The staff were very welcoming and helped us with any issue we had in our stay in Stone Town.

We asked the hotel for recommendations for a tourist agency to take a tour for Prision Island. Unfortunately, the guy from the agency was a scammer. We gave a deposit in cash but decided after 1 hour we couldn’t take the tour the next day so we asked for the refund. At the beginning, the guy said he would refund the full money the next morning but then he decided unilaterally the would keep 10$. We discussed it in person but he ended up leaving without explanation. Finally, the hotel refunded the money in full. My only advice is to not take a tour from their contact, a guy called Rama Kuzu.

Very colourful, nice location in the middle of the Stonetown souks, close to most sights and many dining options. Helpful and friendly staff. Dennis, the manager was thoughtfu and assigned us a different room when we showed up with a lot of luggage and initially had a room that required multiple flights of stairs. Decent breakfast.

It is definitely a boutique hotel, so don't expect western 4 star hotel luxury, but in return you get a lot more character. Shower was not separated from the rest of the bathroom, so the bathroom had quite a bit of overflow water on the floor after having a shower.

Shaba Boutique Hotel is located in the Old Town of Stone Town, just a 9-minute walk from Freddie Mercury’s House. Don’t worry about the narrow street. So it's easily accessible within a 3-minute walk, and our guide accompanied us right to the door. The breakfast is excellent, with great coffee, fresh fruit, eggs, pastries, everything you need. Dex, the manager, is very attentive, and the staff was exceptionally kind. It meant a lot to us that Dex supported us like a friend throughout our stay. The room has good air conditioning, a hairdryer, and a TV. You’ll have everything you need if you choose this hotel. Also, my favorite boutique was right across the hotel. I bought two beautiful local dresses there.

Perfect place in Stone Town for my stay. I loved the decor and the breakfast was plentiful and delicious. The staff with friendly and attentive. It was a nice touch to have various seating areas around if you want to read/chill with a book outside of the rooms and the cold/hot water dispensers on each floor was a nice touch. I was a solo traveller in room 12 - 5 this was perfect for one person and I loved the balcony.

The shower/bathroom is a wet room, so it will be wet on the floors until it’s evaporated/dried up!

If you want to pay with card in hotel you have to pay 3% card ayment tax. Ad it is not mentioned anywhere.

It was a lovely hotel, the staff were lovely and gave us extra fresh fruit at breakfast everyday. The location is amazing as well, I highly recommend as it’s a short walk to get to any tourist attraction. The things I did not like were the floor and bed, it’s a concrete floor that’s just painted. This makes it impossible to keep clean, so you can always feel dirt on your feet. The bed creaked every time you made the slightest movement, it was incredibly loud and irritating, would not recommend the bed if you’re a light sleeper.

The staff was incredibly polite and attentive, always ready to assist with a smile. The room was cleaned daily, ensuring a spotless and comfortable stay. For me personally, the location is excellent, right in the heart of the old town. It’s perfect for those who want to immerse themselves in the local culture, experience real life, and see how the locals live. Highly recommended!

Nothing major, but the breakfast could use some improvement! Adding more savory options, like salami and toasted bread, would be a nice extra touch. Also, although the room was on the 3rd floor, there was noticeable noise, which suggests the soundproofing wasn’t very effective.

The hotel is in a prime location, it is beautiful and every detail is very well thought. Staff is lovely and very helpful (special mention to Bianca). Room was very comfortable and big, with a very nice ensuite bathroom. Very comfy mattress, and both ceiling fan and aircon to choose. The detail of having a hot/cold water dispenser for guests on every level is very handy and convenient. Breakfast is excellent, wide a wide range of freshly made options every morning. Would definitely recommend.

The hotel is very charming. Located in the middle of stone town about 900 m from Freddy Mercury’s house. You will need to walk from the taxi all the way from outside stone town since cars do not transit there it seems. Our cab driver took us there walking. The staff is great. Clean room, comfortable bed. The breakfast was a big surprise. Delicious and the lady that took care of us was simply wonderful. We recommend the hotel. Thank you so much.

A little noisy, but if you want to stay in stone town, there will be some noise I assume. Internet could be a bit faster.

Very nice Boutique hotel at a good location to explore Stone Town. The owner was very friendly and also organized breakfast although we had to leave before the official breakfast time. The hotel itself was clean and very interesting from the decoration. Very good Wifi. We liked it a lot.

Maybe our room was bit unlucky, but the mattress was very saggy, it needs to change. Also the bed itself was very loud, even when you just turned from one side to the other… Small note: when you shower, you float almost the hole bathroom. It would be helpfull maybe to built in a glass wall for separation.
