Two years ago, I wrote that this hotel was one of our favorites in Italy. It still is. I'll say more: the reason we've included Bergamo in our (almost annual) Giro d'Italia five times is precisely this hotel (also Bergamo is a particularly pleasant city to stay. If I could choose any city in Italy to live, it would be Modena or Bergamo). Located in the heart of the beautiful, attractive Città Alta, you can drive up to the hotel to unload your luggage, and you can reserve a parking space only 100 meters by foot. The staff is very helpful, and the hotel, a beautiful building, is perfectly maintained. The rooms are stylishly furnished (completely to our taste). We had a quadruple room, which has two full bathrooms, which is very welcome when traveling with your daughter (...) The breakfast may be a bit limited, but it's delicious, and, again, the staff is very friendly. We'd especially like to thank the girl - I forgot to ask her name - who provided a a nice breakfast to take for us and helped us get out of the garage when we left early in the morning. Absolutely nothing.

The hotel is gorgeous. The lobby/breakfast areas, outdoor courtyard and the rooms are clean, attractive, comfortable and beautifully decorated incorporating old world charm of the original palazzo with a fresh and modern ambience. Located inside the ZTL, but because we timed our arrival, we were able to pull up in front to drop bags and then go park. The property offers hotel guests CA1 parking pass for their stay. We found parking very close to the hotel.

The rooms are pricey, but it’s hard to let that bother you when you are enticed with this lovely property and its extremely efficient, warm staff.

The staff were amazing! We had difficulty getting to the hotel as the narrow streets had roadworks that prevented us getting through. A member of the team walked with me to the car to check I had parked legally and printed off a permit - such an amazing example of being customer centric! In addition, as a good will gesture, they upgraded us to teh best room in the hotel! Probably the best hotel room I have ever stayed in! The breakfast was wonderful - simple and elegant and high quality. Finally, the location right in the centre of teh old town could not have been better.

The parking is not ideal but we could still get pretty close to the hotel so not really an issue.

A beautiful hotel in the middle of the beautiful historic town of Bergamo (in the citta alta) close to all the main attractions. The staff was amazing....from the front desk reception to the breakfast staff, everyone wanted us to be the most comfortable and provided us with smiles, help and anything we needed. We traveled with six adults and two young children and they even set up a breakfast table for us all....and provided childrens tableware for their enjoyment!! They put us all on a private floor and each of our three rooms were so unique and so wonderfully clean and comfortable!!! I would recommend this hotel if you every want to visit this beautiful town

nothing could have been better !!

My room was spacious , spotless and quiet. The hotel location is great. And… the reception spoke English and actually understood my fast kiwi . A bonus. Breakfast was great and coffee awesome. This hotel was closed for about 18months after pandemic and I for one are really pleased for them that business is doing well. I have been to Bergamo a few times but I will always stay here in the future and would highly recommend this hotel.

Maybe the socket for devices could be away from the tables by the bed to save moving it back and forwards

It was perfectly located in the centre of the town. The breakfast had a nice European selection. Room was a decent size with nice features such as a small covered balcony and historic window. The bathroom came with all the usual additions including hairdryer. Tea and coffee facilities in room. USB ports.

Only one issue I would say was that we arrived around 3.30. Check in was 3. Room wasnt ready and we were asked to come back in about half an hour. Nothing major but I feel generally check in times should be maintained when you are paying for a room and losing an hour when you have travelled and want to freshen up however we appreciate things happen and delays can occur.

The location is tops!!! Cleanness, amenities & service excellent. Breakfast was adequate. Everything in the room felt brand new and was carefully designed to function well. The room was small/basic - but I could have paid for a better/bigger room, so that's on me.

Due to some construction works in the street, it was impossible to reach by car the entrance and had to carry my suitcase down the cobbled road. But it's not the hotel's fault.

The room was the perfect size and had wonderful little extras like recessed window lighting, complimentary water bottles, espresso maker and stocked mini fridge. The bed was comfortable. The shower was wonderful and there were robes for wearing after a shower! There was a garage for our car. The staff was professional and extremely friendly - they helped with dinner reservations, our Italian language, parking and all our questions!

Great location in central Citta Alta.Very nice room, good size, modern, felt like brand new (but is actually a few years old).Helpful staff, nice breakfasts. Lovely old square next to hotel with ancient wash house facility.The Piazza Vecchia is only 100 metres from the hotel.

We hadn’t realised when we booked that the hotel has no dining facilities other than breakfast (entirely our own fault). Only other criticism, which is nothing to do with the hotel, is that Bergamo Alto is much more of a tourist destination than we expected it to be. Very busy on the weekend days we were there.

This is a lovely hotel in the center of a charming area of the Citta Altà, and we were very pleased with our stay. The superior deluxe room was spacious and clean, with soothing colors and decor. The front desk personnel were friendly, professional, displayed an interest in insuring that our visit was memorable. The breakfast personnel were great as well, and very eager to make each visitor happy. The hotel's location was perfect for exploring all that Bergamo has to offer. Breakfast was delightful in the cozy breakfast area, with a great assortment of fresh and high quality offerings. All in all, we were very happy with our choice of hotel, and our three-night stay there, and would recommend the Gambit Hotel to anyone visiting this beautiful city.

A few minor observations to note. The bathroom was smaller than expected, with a tight shower setup and an impractical sink layout that left little room to place toiletries, so it was a bit challenging getting ready each morning. Also, we would have appreciated the opportunity to order omelettes and/or scrambled eggs at breakfast, but they are not available as they lack a proper kitchen set up at this time (they are working to solve this issue). Instead there are hard boiled eggs, but those we took were often not cooked through so a little more monitoring is needed here.
