Very well situated to Railway station, Nice room, quiet even though you're on a main road, a very pleasant stay.
I was a little disappointed with the breakfast, I would of liked a small choice of cereals and toast and we had to pay extra for a latte even though it was the same price as an ordinary coffee.

The Albert is in a good location close to the station. The staff were always kind courteous and very helpful, especially with taking my suitcase up and down from the top floor. The bed was clean and comfortable but the carpet could use a good vacuuming.
The Albert is a nicely renovated building but could use some general maintenance checks. The toilet paper holder was about to fall off the wall, the bathroom vent fan sounded like it was about to explode so I didn’t use the light. The entrance door from the street could use a handle to help keep door closed as it was unlatched every time I used it. It could be a security issue.

Very well located for town. Excellent afternoon/evening reception staff. Clean linen. Fluffy towels. Good shower. Bog TV. Welcome tray. On site food was well cooked and portions enormous. I feel we received good value for money.
It is hard and unfair to criticise at this price point but to answer the question : unironed duvet covers, breakfast a bit of a shambles (no cereal, no sauces, Insufficient butter, had to ask for orange, then for marmalade) and order delivered incorrect (items received not ordered). However, my only truly negative observation was that I thought it inappropriate to wet mop the floor whilst people were eating.

Lovely breakfast, full fry-up included in the overnight cost, which was great. Only a short walk from the train station, so it's situated in a great location. The bathroom was huge and the bed was clean and comfortable so I had a good night's sleep. Nice friendly staff and a 10% discount on food, drinks and return stays is a great added bonus. The fan in the room was a welcome addition, as was the mini fridge. During these warm summer nights, these were much appreciated.
Water pressure in the shower was a bit poor, though there was a sign about them saving water, so this was likely due to that. The cleanliness of the room could have been a bit better, overall the amenities were servicable and the bed/shower/sink were clean and fit for purpose. However, I spotted someone's old used tissues under the bedside table, I wasn't daring enough to fish them out from under there myself. Water pipes caused quite a lot of noise when someone in another room was running a tap, using the toilet or having a shower.

Bar staff in the evening were very helpful. Room clean and comfortable overall. Not noisy.
In the morning we got up for breakfast and couldn’t get a coffee as the hotel hadn’t got any milk. There was a few more people also waiting who couldn’t get a drink. We eat our food and the hot drinks and milk still hadn’t arrived. This was only thing that let the stay down as we walked into the town to find a coffee shop. Surely a hotel should always have milk available even if it’s little sachets for rooms or longlife milk stored as emergency. Shame cos breakfast was decent…..

Accommodation was very good. Staff were friendly & very helpful with accessing the accommodation.
The exterior bedroom window in Victoria room 2 is hanging off the hinge. Unable to fasten it so it swings open. Interior secondary glazing were fine but we could still hear noise from outside. We did report this & we were told that they were trying to get it repaired. Breakfast was very disappointing (included in the price). We chose poach egg on toast. Just one piece of basic white toast & 1 poached egg was served! No question asked for white or brown bread. Egg was on the toast but no butter added … it did come separately after! There was drizzles of balsamic vinegar over the plate & egg which seemed very odd. Surely two eggs & 2 slices of toast is possible for a cost of £7.95 on the menu.

This place was so close to everything really. Right next to the multistory carpark which Aldo takes you right into the heart of the shopping centre. On arrival we were greeted very promptly and advised where to park. We were guided on how to use the services to get into our rooms etc. we were told we'd get 10% off the food bill if we ate there.. we had a lovely meal in the bar which was if decent quality. Breakfast the following morning was cold, everything on the plate was cold. We should have sent them all back but no one came to ask if everything was alright. The room was clean, warm, and comfortable, it had everything you needed . The breakfast wasn't good but yes I would stay again due to the hotels position
Breakfast wasn't good. Cold

The accommodation was faultless so clean and comfortable, very good value for money and location was great
The only reason I gave an 8 and not 10 was the breakfast or lack of it. We ordered a full English, after a short while we were told they're run out of bacon and someone had gone to shops to get some, 15 minutes later they still hadn't come back from shop, so unfortunately we just had toast as it was 9.10 am by then and we needed to be somewhere by 10 and our parking ticket would have run out aswell. Very unfortunate for all concerned, hopefully an oversight like that won't happen again. Everything else was perfect, such ashame the lack of bacon and no breakfast spoilt it

Angela, Natalie, Sam & Tom were all extremely helpful and really made our holiday! My room, Victoria, was really a mini suite and very comfortable. The door locking system made us feel very secure and it was nice to have a separate entrance from the hotel. The included breakfasts were delicious. Easy walk to the station, castle, prison, shops, cafes and the dingle. Overall, The Albert, and Shrewsbury in general, was a great place for our week's stay.
The carpet in my room could use a shampoo. Coming from Australia, I have found a general reluctance to accept £50 notes. The Albert actually has a policy against accepting them. This might be handy to know for other travellers.

It's very convenient to the railway station, and an easy walk to the centre of town. The main entrance in on the street, but that door has a key card lock, as does the room door, so it's secure. The hotel reception is in the bar next door - When I checked in they walked me around to the hotel bit & took me to the room.
It's an older building, so you do hear some noise from other guests or from the water pipes. Not bad or intrusive, but if you're very sensitive to noise, that might be a problem.
