The staff were absolutely wonderful and very good at their jobs. They greeted us warmly, had very good communication and they tried super hard to provide us with a good breakfast. As we are gluten free and vegan, we were very impressed with how wonderful the breakfast was. Delicious! The location is also great. Only a short walk to thr train station and right in the middle of everything.

It was very noisy in the room. There are earplugs provided but I don't like wearing them as I have ear problems. I can't fault the hotel though, as the deserve all the success in the world.

The location was right in center of Lucca was fine for walking around, but not for walking the suitcases from public parking. It was about a 10 minute walk. We could have driven and dropped them off, but the roads were narrow with lots of pedestrians so chose not to. Breakfast was served to us each morning. Three morning we ate in our sitting room and once in the common area with other guests. The food was fine.

We would have preferred breakfast to be a buffet, but it is a small property. Probably only half a dozen to eight rooms. The hotel is on the 3rd floor and shared building with apartments.

Nothing - I cannot think of anything negative about our stay this property. It has been owned by the same family for several generations; they run the place with love and compassion, in their own way and more like their private home than a hotel. As a courtesy to them, those guests who find something not to their satisfaction should take up the matter directly with the owners or staff before they tell the public.

Enchanting historic palazzo, grand and interesting. Elisabetta was a delightful host. The breakfast had fruit, yoghurt, cereal, ham, bread, coffee, pancakes, eggs. Great variety. We also ate extremely well at Trattoria da Giulio, suggested by Elisabetta. If you’re looking for a bland, modern “luxury” hotel, this is not for you. If you are a cultured traveller who loves history and the aesthetic wonder of Lucca, Palazzo Rocchi is the home you are looking for.

The lighting in our room was limited - because of heritage rules, the palazzo cannot install lighting fixtures on delicate walls. I fully respect this. When I stay again, I will bring my little reading light.

Great location for all of Lucca. 10 minutes walk from the train station. Lovely welcome from the staff and so friendly during our stay. Great breakfast, really good coffee.

two adults and two kids, the staff was so friendly, the unit was a huge 2 bedroom apartment in the middle of the square. Breakfast was nice, it wasn't a buffet but a pre fixe type of sit down breakfast, but very nice way to start the day.

parking and lugging the bags from the car, which was partially our fault because we last minute booked and started driving in before getting the full instructions. the walk from the car to the hotel was about 10 minutes. Wouldn't bring heavy suitcases if you can help it.

You come to this nondescript door on the piazza and walk into a not very promising looking hallway. Take the elevator to the 3rd floor and be transported back 300 years in time. My 3 room suite was just breathtaking and was the nicest room in all of my 3 weeks of travel. Frescos on every ceiling, stenciled walls and the view! Overlooking the piazza San Michele and church and tower. I was just blown away. They brought my breakfast into my sitting room on the morning and made me feel like royalty for a night. I would definitely return without hesitation and I am very picky.

Nothing at all

The breakfast was good and served in a very glamorous room. The staff were helpful, the location was excellent and the view from the room we stayed in was marvellous. The room definitely had the wow factor and had plenty of space and a good bathroom.

Although there is a lift for three floors there were stairs to our room from there, which could have been a problem if we had mobility issues. Despite the lovely room having a kitchen area, there was no kettle! The shower head needed replacing. The bed was in a mezzanine area which isn’t ideal but that had been made clear in the details of the room when we booked, so fair enough!

The location was absolutely amazing - really central. The staff were friendly and helpful. It is a beautiful palazzo and the room (which was actually two rooms - a sitting room and bedroom) exceeded my expectations for the price I paid (which did include a Booking.com genius discount). I really liked the way the guest rooms led off a huge communal salotto. It felt like we were stepping back in time, but with mod cons!

One side of the bed had a bit of a dip in it, but it was my husband's side so it didn't bother me!

Pallazzo Rocchi is fantastic. Situated right in the center, the views from the windows are majestic. We booked for just one night after our Tuscany road trip, but that was a big mistake(should stayed longer). Lucca is one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, with its charming streets, stunning buildings, delightful shops, excellent restaurants, and friendly people. Pallazzo Rocchi feels like it's straight out of a fairytale, with countless 'Instagrammable' corners. The homemade breakfast was delightful, and the rice pudding served next to the coffee was heavenly. We plan to visit Florence in the fall and will definitely return to Lucca and Pallazzo Rocchi.
