Many good hotels are often either mostly beautiful or comfortable. Palazzo Artemide is an amazing combination of both. Beautiful stone walls, arches and high ceilings, together with optimal comfort where great thought had gone into small details ....made this our favourite hotel for years, in spite of other strong contenders. But the staff!!! Here is what puts it into an exclusive category. We have never met such friendly, helpful and efficient hotel employees . Such fun,too, they felt like family. Each guest has a dedicated worker to look after their interests and well-being......at least that was what it seemed like to us. We were fortunate in getting Andres, an intelligent, fun and highly empathetic young man with excellent English. He even came to the pharmacy with me to explain the symptoms when my husband needed some medication, as well as spending a long time helping us plan our future trip. Such service! We loved the. 'terrible twins" (both called Robert).Robert always had a big smile for us and a joke, and the sympathetic manager Roberto obviously does his job excellently, to explain the warm feeling among his staff. The highlight of the day was the delicious and varied breakfast, taken outside on the spacious terrace with a lovely view over the cathedral, and helped by friendly staff. This hotel is more than just somewhere to stay......it was a whole experience.

We were glad not to have loud music at breakfast..Many people are grateful not to have any music at all, as tastes vary widely....but if there must be, why not some Neapolitan songs rather than soulless DJ type fare..

We had a wonderful stay at the hotel for 5 nights. The location of the hotel was second to none, a few steps from piazza del Duomo. The room was very comfortable and well appointed. The cleaning staff did fabulous job and were very accomodating. The breakfast was superb. I had a rental car and used their valet service to park and retrieve the car. Every single staff member was curteous and pleasant. Had dinner at the restaurant one evening and had a fantastic meal. The chef is exceptional.

The location is excellent. You are in the heart of Ortigia and you can walk to all main attractions and restaurants. The breakfast setting is wonderful. The staff was extremely attentive and helpful. We booked the deluxe suite and the bed was very big.

Nothing. You should simply be aware that, if you arrive by car, you will have to go through a popular pedestrian street. However, if you book the valet service with the hotel, you won’t have to worry about it for the rest of your stay.

The hotel was so central. It was pure perfection , when I left the hotel I missed it compared to some hotels I stayed in Sicily . It was spotless and so worth the extra money compared others in Syracuse . The breakfast was amazing . The staff were all pleasant and polite an amazing customer service. From the reception staff to the waitresses and waiters, the maids and the maintenance guys. All these people deserve a mention.. I will be back Miss you already

It would have been wonderful to have a roof top terrace or spa facilities, but with a such a historic building and wonderful service these are just extras.

A great hotel with brilliant staff. Room was super clean and spacious. Lots of quality towels, good amenities and comfortable beds. Breakfast had a good choice with good timings. We used the restaurant for lunch and evening drinks and it was very good.

Found it strange that service charges were added to final bill as a percentage of total spend. To be fair they were transparent and explained the charges and removed them with no hassle but made us feel awkward

Carpets in hallways were really dirty. A small thing like that should be taken care of as it detracts from the otherwise beautiful setting. It was nearly impossible to reach the hotel by car. The hotel should suggest a place for visitors with cars to park, and pick them up from the car park.

We spent 3 nights at the Palazzo Artemide and had a wonderful time. It is ideally located right in the middle of Ortigia next to the Duomo. Our room was very spacious (big enough to do our yoga!). It overlooked the internal courtyard so it was extremely quiet, though I understand that the rooms overlooking the street are not noisy because it is a pedestrian area. The room was immaculately clean. The bed was very comfortable, and the bed linen which was of very high quality was changed daily. The staff were all very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We came in a rental car and they gave us good instructions how to get to the hotel. The valet service then looked after and parked the car for us. We did not eat in the hotel, but the breakfast was excellent with a large selection of choices. We would most definitely return and highly recommend it.

Beautiful hotel just around the corner from the cathedral so great location . Rooms were absolutely beautiful and well equipped and clean .

2 days didn’t have hot water in the bathroom and had to ask reception repeatedly if it was a hotel issue which it was or just our room . It would’ve been courteous to let the guests know what was happening proactively . No discount or even a drink offered as compensation hence the lower score . Things happen but I’m afraid staff didn’t handle it correctly which is what matters especially when you are paying for an expensive hotel .

Beautifully renovated hotel with welcoming staff. Wonderful dining room with vaulted ceilings. Great choice of food for breakfast, with attentive, friendly staff circulating around. The dinner menu was a little too limited for us and we ate elsewhere in the evening. Our room was on the third floor and we had absolutely no problems with noise from outside. The bed was enormous and very comfortable. The coffee machine in the room was a very welcome feature. Our only negative would be that the bathroom didn't offer anywhere suitable to dry large towels - just two single pegs on the wall, which meant that, having showered in the evening, they were still damp when we came to use them in the morning, as they had just hung in folds from the pegs. A couple of long towel rails, one at higher level and one below at a lower level, would have solved the problem. Oh, and also no hair conditioner. Having looked at other reviews, apparently I could perhaps have requested some but it would have been nice to have it there ready. There were all sorts of other beauty products, such as beard balm and cleanser, so no hair conditioner seemed a bit of an odd omission. The location is excellent, just steps away from Piazza Duomo. The cathedral took our breath away, and there's so much stunning architecture everywhere you look. A very memorable two-night stay for us in Ortigia.
