The room on the 2nd floor had a balcony view of the harbour and Pico Mountain (see photo from my room’s balcony). For a 2 star hotel, it had a 5 star view. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of space in the room. It included a European breakfast that was better than expected. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Lucia at the front desk checked me in and was very helpful, respectful and professional. It’s an older hotel, but was clean and it definitely exceeded my expectations.

At some point the hotel will have to do some upgrades as it is aging and well used.

A somewhat old-fashioned but functional property in the center of Horta. The room is quite small (having requested an extra bed, there was very little room to move around), but it has a balcony and a splendid view of Pico Island - and the volcano, when it decides to emerge from the clouds :)

Breakfast was a bit chaotic, but we arrived at peak time, so that's pretty normal. Unfortunately, the waterfront location also means some traffic noise can be quite bothersome, especially if you choose to keep the window open in the summer.

This is the cheapest place we’ve found on last minutes. You can’t expect for a 5 stars comfort but I slept very well and it was clean. There was not as much noise as you can read in the comments. The night was really calm. The people are very nice and helpful. The breakfast is fine. The location is very good. (15€ for a taxi to take you from the airport to the hotel)

Our room was on the ground floor, with a veranda and a superb view of the yacht mole and Pico. The area is quiet and safe. The room was serviced every day and fresh towels provided. Breakfast was good - fresh fruit and juice, cornflakes, yoghourt, ham, cheese, hard boiled eggs and fresh rolls, a griller to toast your cheese and ham roll. There were tea infusions and many ways of making an excellent cup of coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful..

It’s hard to get used to putting soiled toilet paper in a bin but I understand completely the necessity for it.

very helpful staff, clean room, facilities, comfortable bed, perfect location in the center next to the marina => nice sea view with mount piko in the back, nice breakfast => much better than ** => i would rate it *** (3 stars)

nothing to complain, really positive surprised. exeptional value for money! (but please do not expect **** (4stars) if you after that, there is plenty of options, at 3x the price)

They need to have more of an indication on the outside that this is a hotel. At present Hotel Sao Francisco is written on the front of the door shade over the entrance. That's it. I was walking on the same side of the street, and I walked past it twice until I happened to ask. Arriving by taxi I suppose would be different. No elevator

Perfect location, nice room and comfortable bed, good Wi-Fi, comfortable bathroom, friendly and helpful staff. Big plus for a small balcony, loved it!

Breakfast a bit poor - although boiled eggs every morning was a plus :)

The views to the port are great , and the location is just perfect! .. they kept my soja drink in the kitchen so I can use whenever, this was very convenient as I felt very homey.

The beds are not that hard so you roll in. No AC and humidity can be felt

window to street makes the room a bit noisy - no hot water kettle available in the room
