Liked my patio overlooking the pool, bed was very comfortable, nice size TV, great location, walking distance to beach and fair. Complimentary breakfast. Quick response to change out trash cans and towel service.

My bathroom was small, no where to place toiletries/cosmetics, body towels too small and thin, no hair conditioner, rooms had various upgrades (ceiling fan, fireplace, table, air conditioning unit), the $10 daily self-parking fee that didn't exist last year when we stayed there (junk fee). Since the pandemic there is now no daily room service without staying more than 3 days ( we stayed 4 nights and chose not to have room cleaned, just fresh towels and trash service), I don't think this is fair given that rates have increased and should include daily room service. Isn't that part of my daily rate fee, (includes daily room service)?

Everything about this hotel is wonderful. For a property that is over one hundred years old, you know they are doing it right. We always love our stays here. The beds are comfortable. We love to get the rooms with the fireplace, and it just makes it a more romantic stay. It is a perfect get away for a couple. Breakfast is your typical hotel breakfast, but the sausages are delicious, and the rest is filling. I loved the enclosed porch for the morning. It is quiet and restful.

Their coffee is more like sadness water, it is very weak. But other than that there is not much else that we could complain about. I was able to work even on a winter morning, so what is there to complain about there.

The Location is wonderful! It’s a very short walk to the beach and the pier is very close. Ventura Main Street is about 1 mile from the hotel. It’s a nice walk or very short drive. There you find all kinds of restaurants and stores. The grounds of the hotel are so nice. Flowers and sitting areas. The bed was very comfortable and the room was very clean.

The rooms/facilities are a bit run down. The door in the bathroom was falling apart on the bottom. We said it was like staying in an old school or vintage place. Breakfast was OK but it was complimentary so I won’t complain.

I had seen a bunch of reviews before booking the stay - I am glad that I went anyways - the place is under repair, so it is upgrading all the time. The room, bed, shower, supplies was all fine. What a beautiful sunset - close to the beach, even though it's closed at this time, had to go pass the pier to get to the beach. No trouble getting around, found a great restaurant and a super laundromat near by. Spent 6 nights, so I got a good chance to see the place in operation, 101 is very close and kind of loud, but did not bother my wife or myself, We slept fine. My wife, who works from home, brought her work on the trip and was able to work at the pool. Very nice.

The breakfast was lacking in extras, but had enough food to make people happy. This is a side comment. I spent a number of years selling commercial pest control, so I know what I am talking about. Whoever is doing the service, don't know what they are doing. The bait stations are way over done, not placed in the right spots, and don;t present the cleanest places, Oh! this place has rats, not good to see. I would have sold them bait stations that look like stones, Fit in landscaping without people suspecting anything. They look like part of the landscaping.

The cottage was very nice and cozy. Loved that it was far enough away that there was no freeway noise, unlike all the other regular rooms on property. The hot tub in room was so relaxing. The bed was comfortable. The landscaping along path to cottage was appealing. The free breakfast was good. I liked the sausage, bacon, and choices of toast. Hash brown cubes should be avoided! Location is good for taking a walk along beach bike path and visiting Ventura Pier. Overall worth the extra price for cottage.

It was communicated that the pool was heated. I was not, and there is no outdoor hot tub. The property and grounds are very outdated and several areas are in semi demolished state. Pretty much any other rooms you stay in other than the 2 cottages will have constant freeway noise. (Although they are probably quite a bit cheaper).

The room was comfortable. We had a ground floor room with a small patio. Big sliding glass door that opened out to patio and walkway - although we faced the freeway so a bit noisy but it became "white noise" that didn't bother us. There was a free breakfast included but we did not participate in it so can't tell you if it was good or bad.

We didn't seem to get much information or "directions" at time of check in. We were told there was a daily breakfast but not told where it was located. Was not told where ice machines were; had to find and follow the signs. Just a little more "general information" at check in would be helpful - especially for us old, "forgetful" folks!!

Rooms were nice and roomy, and the grounds (plantings) are beautiful. Great proximity to attractions and restaurants. Beds are comfy and fireplace in room was great. Bed was comfy.

The breakfast was terrible. Only high sugar cereals, awful tasting eggs, nothing special or interesting. Nothing healthy -- no hard boiled eggs, no yogurt, unripe fresh fruit -- only apples and oranges. Some guests actually like whole grains, and healthy breakfasts! For the high price of staying at this historic place I was extremely disappointed. If you have a room facing west (pretty) the traffic from the highway is noisy, but this can't be helped as the traffic came after hotel was built.

My husband and I stayed in a cottage. It was clean and lovely. We enjoyed the privacy and the patio. We could walk across to breakfast each morning, which was as you'd expect and the outside patio there was a nice place to eat. Overall we had a good break from our usual busy lives and enjoyed our stay very much.

No complaints at all. The staff was great. We had a problem with the TV at first and the staff was there in no time to fix it!

The location is awesome! So close to the beach and easy walk to downtown. Chris at the front desk was amazing, super friendly and helpful. The bed was so comfortable.

Our room never got cleaned. Ooops! I ended up using a towel to sweep up the sand that got tracked in. We had a cool jacuzzi tub but there was no plug. E made one that worked pretty good. Be aware that you’re right next to the freeway.

We would stay again. We luckily got the updated room is clean and spacious. Good price for our stay.

Restaurant was closed. Bummer. Windows were busted but im sure they will fix. Looks like they are renovating. If bringing dogs, are allowed but only have one spot in middle of parking lot of grass for restroom, dogs not allowed other parts of grass. Signs everywhere. Other than that its 4 out of 5
