The surroundings of the complex was certainly historical. Great place for a wedding. Great pool ideal size and the steam room and sauna were great also. There is a gym I didn't use it though. Friendly staff Alex the manager made my stay special knowing it was my birthday very helpful even had a tour and would stay again. Room was great size with lots of cupboard and draw space large bathroom. Nice size bar and lounge area and large dining area. I didn't have breakfast there though. Overall the great relaxing get away with tunes from the birds to wake you up in this tranquil setting. Short walk to Shifnel less than 15 minutes away. Lots of restaurants to choose from and friendly pubs.

Never judge a book by the cover. outside may look like it needs a little TLC but once your inside and see your room your be glad you stayed.

The room was comfortable and clean, we had exceptionally large windows looking out to beautiful greenery. The leisure facilities were perfect, a small but well-equipped gym, sauna, steam and lovely pool and jacuzzi with plenty of natural light and windows to the trees surrounding. The staff were all friendly and helpful. The decor is slightly dated but it definitely has charm and we’ll be coming back for sure. It’s also only a 3 min drive to the town centre with shops and restaurants. I came to get some writing done, this was well achieved in the peaceful hotel.

We arrived early but was not an issue . The staff were extremely helpful . Our room was very spacious and comfortable and it was very quiet. We were right by the front entrance but never heard a vehicle once. We went down for a drink and spent quite a time chatting to the barman, a very friendly gentleman with sound knowledge of the area . We went in for food. As we had booked a table and were very quickly given a menu and ordered drinks . Again the staff were very friendly and attentive. Once we’d ordered food it was a short wait then we were given a plate of food worthy of a king , it was presented well and tasted amazing superbly cooked . After the meal we sat in the bar and had a few more drinks chatting to other residents who were also very happy with the hotel. That night we both slept very well and woke fresh and energised. Breakfast was again superbly prepared and cooked perfectly.our compliments to the chef . We booked out at about 10.30 and spent the next two hours in the hotel’s swimming pool, spa ,steam room and jacuzzi with no extra charge . Well done everyone and excellent stay had and will definitely go back

Lovely big room, friendly helpful staff, great location for what we wanted. Heating on 24 / 7 in room made very hot but rectified the next morning. Was supposed to be on a timer but ours wasn't. Mentioned a few things below but nothing stopped is having great days out that we had.

Our sash windows only opened a little bit. The wooden frame work was all broken and just a.little tatty. Not sure if have to have in a room but had no fire escape plan on door and I didn't see any telephone. Would definitely stay again and recommend it to people xx

Stayed in the Telford suite again and loved wallowing in the enormous deep bath, drinking bubbley and gazing out of the tall windows into the countryside. It's showing signs of wear now but is probably the most used room in the hotel.

Check in since the change of owners has become a bit of a messy experience. The system sending pre arrivall check in messages which don't work. It's also the first time I've had to wait in a bar area on arrival whilst rooms are checked... it all seemed a bit faffy. It wasn't broken before so why try and fix it? Churlish niggle perhaps so let's hope things iron out soon. It's a smashing building and location so I genuinely wish it well.

Lovely bed and setting but the place needs repairs and dusting.. Huge bathroom. Staff were lovely and attentive but breakfast food once it arrive was good but was run by teenagers so no idea that was needed, constantly needed to ask for tea, juices, glasses, cereals.milk, butters.

Cobwebs everywhere, main walkways need dusting, picture frames on stairs, woodwork throughout, heating was erratic, room walls have marks, lovely antique furniture has chips and very old fashioned 80's bathroom fittings. Breakfast food was good but clearing tables and refilling items didn't happen. Lots of staff walking about but not achieving anything. Queues to be seated and randomly allocated. Grounds and gardens could be beautiful but need gardeners.

Myself and my husband enjoyed the leisure facilities. The food was also amazing. Our room was warm and cosy the bed was so comfortable. The shower was lovely and hot and poweful. The tv was nice a big and plenty of channels to watch. All in all value for money. Myself and my husband just wanted somewhere where we could relax, go for a swim, have a steam room, and generally to peace, which we both did get.

The bathroom needed a bit more of a clean. It did get very hot in the room, but once I turned the heating down, it cooled down and was very comfortable. The staff were very good couldn't fault them although they seemed to be running from place to place. At times, it seemed understaffed. The bar area seemed a bit dull. it needs to be more inviting. We thought we heard someone arguing under our window when, in fact, it was a lady having a go at staff who was taking some table and chairs inside that looked like they had been delivered. The way the lady spoke wasn't very nice, and in my opinion, no one should be spoken to in that tone.

Room was huge. As expected in an old converted Manor House some aspects were a little tired. It felt as though this hotel would be a never ending project. The only complaint is that the carpet in the room was a little tired and marked. This however didn’t spoil our stay. Breakfast was a simple cereal, toast and cooked breakfast. The staff kept the hot counter filled constantly.

Could feel the slats under the mattress of the bed. Very very soft mattress meant moving around a lot in the night.

The pool was nice...the hotel is old but quirky, lots of corridors, can easily get lost lol but does have alot of old world charm and character..lovely wooden sweeping staircase in main hall..the staff are very nice and friendly..especially Tom the Barman..who made our 1st day and night there special..Janet and reception very nice too..peaceful hotel too...can hear nature waking up in the morning, the breakfasts and evening meal were superb..Great food , nice chef..

The shower cldve been bit faster and bit warmer , heating on as was bit chilly..but it is an old house ,get rid of cobwebs in the windows
