Island House Hotel was exceptionally clean and very comfortable. Every interaction with staff was positive, and everyone was friendly and helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable, and cheery. We loved the veranda porch in front that looks out over the lake. Plenty of chairs were available to use while we relaxed and took in the views. The pool and hot tub area were clean and well kept. Upstairs rooms can be accessed using stairs or the elevator. Hallways have stairs where the original building transitions to an addition. If stairs are a problem for you, make sure you request a room easily accessed. We would highly recommend staying at Island House Hotel if you are visiting Mackinac Island.

Conveniently situated on the island and impeccably maintained, the Island House is just perfect if you can afford the price. The two restaurants are very convenient. The Ice House near the pool is very casual and doesn’t require reservations.

Because of the cost, we stayed on the fourth floor ( room 418) in a dormer. This room, after all the various taxes were added, was almost $600/night! The combined area would probably equal three queen beds. It was, however, cute ( like a kids playhouse) and clean. I peaked in the dormer next to ours as it was being cleaned; it was almost twice the size of ours. So, maybe some are better than others. Also, the shower nozzle only drizzled out water and the air conditioner sounded like a jet engine.

The location was great for us and the lobby had a real fireplace which, after we asked, someone came and built a fire in. On a cold, rainy day, it was perfect! We also really enjoyed the porch. Excellent views too! We ate at The Ice House (a BBQ restaurant on the property), and the food was delicious! Our room was decorated nicely and the water in shower was hot. Overall, I would consider staying there again next year. We brought our own bikes and could park them right out front, which was convenient.

I had to ask for fresh towels. I thought that leaving them on the floor would indicate that, but I'm not sure the room was even entered. Also, my husband (the coffee drinker), thought the coffee station was poorly stocked and inadequate. A real mug with coffee/tea all day would have put this hotel over the top for him. They also have a rewards club for points at participating places, which is a nice idea. However, they wouldn't give me points for my stay because I used booking.com

Our room had a wonderful view that aligns with the pictures advertised online. The hotel lobby is very classy and the staff were super friendly. The location was close enough to the shops and restaurants that it is only a 5 minute leisurely walk. The room was very bright and clean! It has a pool and hot tub which we used to wind down in the evening. They also took our luggage to and from the Ferry so we did not have to lug it around ourselves.

The bathroom in the room is very small but we did not have any other dislikes, which is a rare occurrence.

The front yard area has a beautiful view. There are Adirondack chairs available to sit in and just enjoy the day. The rooms were clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful and we had a great stay. We only had dinner at the hotel Again the staff was excellent and the food amazing.

The bathroom was quite small, just the toilet and tub. The sink was in the room. Unfortunately the door opened in instead of out, so it took some fancy dancing to open and close while inside.

The property was adorable and had the historical charm but with updated amenities and it was an amazing location! The luggage transfer from the ferry and back was a great plus! Loved the chairs on the lawn to look out at the water and enjoyed sitting by the fire pits in the evening!

We had a 4th floor room which we knew going into it involved stairs but it was more than I had originally thought it would be but they helped us take our luggage up but just be prepared.

I had dinner one night and it was good. The piano player was very nice. The staff listened to me and provided me with services I requested. I was glad that my luggage was brought to my room and picked up when checking out

I was on the 4th floor the very last room 423. The climb up did become a problem since I am 73. I had requested a view of the water, but got a side view of tops of trees only.

The location of the property is ideal overlooking the boat marina and harbor. The historic element to this location with beautiful, well appointed decor, allows one to take in the past and appreciate modern amenities. The staff, all around, are truly helpful, kind and provide excellent recommendations. The seating area in front of the hotel and back provide some of the best experiences in the island. Wonderful good options with two restaurants. I prefer the outdoor Ice House in the back of the property surrounded by beautiful gardens.

Still wishing for a coffee bar that opens early in the morning. The in-room coffee-pots, just don’t do it.

The location on the island. Walking distance from the ferry docks. The staff at the desk and guy in charge of handing our luggage-keeping it for us and bringing it to the dock to be sent in the ferry at the timeframe we were going back to the main land.

The noise above us was very loud throughout our whole stay. I understand it’s an older house, but it was extremely loud above us. It sounded like someone was constantly walking/running/stomping.(not sure if it was kids?which families with children I would recommend a guest floor for them) or if it was just loud adults? We were even woke up by loud noises in the middle of the night. We stayed here last year in a different room and did not have this problem. Fir the price we pay to stay here, I think this needs to be addressed.:/

Location was fabulous. Room was very cozy with window overlooking the bay.

Towels could have been a little softer. Pillows were very hard. Barbecue outdoor dining (forgot the name.) Very rude manager or whoever oversaw the guests. We’re seated and no one realized that we hadn’t been waited on accept for the gentleman who was always just standing around talking the whole time. We had dinner 2 nights on 6/6 & 6/7. He definitely needs to be more efficient and polite. Thank you.
