Great stop on our drive through South Island! Robin is an outstanding host, wanted nothing more than to make sure our trip was fantastic in NZ, gave us priceless recommendations. We drove a bit willy nilly on our trip, finding places to stay as we went. He spent time chatting with us and we followed his advice on the next 2 nights that led us to amazing stops at FableTerraceDowns and the Hermitage- thanks for your hospitality and concern for our trip experience! Robin has a splendid, peaceful house where we stayed and enjoyed his company, advice and personal cooking for breakfast. I hope we meet again! Cheers, Andy & Patty

We totally enjoyed the hospitality of the owner, this is the first b&b experience for my kids and they loved it. It is set in a farm-like huge green land, yet only minutes of drive away from the Greymouth downtown. Very convenient for a family trip. At night we were walking outside the house, we saw so many stars in the sky, my kids said they had never seen milky way this up close. The house is very classically decorated, the beds are super comfortable, and the breakfast is delicious. I also want to thank the owner for sending us the iPad my kid accidentally left behind.

Loved that it was a short 4-5 minute drive out of Greymouth. We opted for the private stand alone cabin rather than the lodge rooms. Loved the privacy and parking directly at the front of the door. Host was welcoming, helpful and friendly. Facilities were all very clean, tidy and comfortable. Would definitely be quite comfortable for a lengthier stay (we were only there overnight as we were taking the trans alpine rail the following day) Would recommend Oak Lodge.

Nothing - we were happy with all aspects of our stay!

Oak Lodge was a large family home that was made into a B and B in the 1920’s . The grounds were beautiful and bird filled with a lovely garden that surrounds the house. The delicious hot breakfast that the host Robin made for us was worth the stay alone. We had a lounge area on the top floor that was nice and cozy with tea, coffee and biscuits! Oak Lodge was a short drive into Greymouth. I would stay there again if ever I would be blessed to visit New Zealand again.

Robin (and his dog) were very welcoming and his property is lovely. The gardens are immaculate and the whole place is meticulously maintained, despite being a period property. The rooms were extremely comfortable and well furnished and the breakfast was home-cooked, delicious and the eggs came from the chickens clucking outside, so couldn’t have been fresher!

There is no lift and the rooms are all up flights of stairs, so not great for anyone with mobility problems.

I have to say this place surprised me. The photos don’t do it justice. Roomy with separate lounge, kitchen, dining room complete with a washer and a deck. Airy and light. The bed was huge and the large shower had such great water pressure. Robin was really helpful regarding local attractions and shops. The gardens were amazing and the view fantastic. I would have loved to have stayed longer.

The only downside was the wifi.

spacious, very clean and had everything one could possibly think of. Washing machine even. The host was very attentive and extremely helpful & friendly, and the house pet dog was also very welcoming and friendly. The gardens are an absolute delight and the efforts in organically growing their own herbs & vegetables are terrific. I would happily recommend this place to anyone looking for excellent service.

pillows getting close to use by date perhaps? bit too soft, but hardly a problem. Otherwise, can't fault the place.

This was a little paradise. There were fantail birds and a very calm kereru in the tree over our balcony. The food was outstanding. The gardens were beautiful. There was a nice little path around them.The host was kind and welcoming. We felt right at home. Way more than I was expecting and I was expecting a lot.

We rented a car to get there. Driving made me nervous but it was well worth it.

Absolutely brilliant property , comfort plus. Room size was fabulous and our own balcony when we were able to eat. The guest lounge had fridge, microwave, jug for endless tea and coffee and refrigerating supplies. Very quiet and dark to ensure a great nights sleep. Set in a beautiful garden and easy driving distance to Greymouth. Host was very welcoming, breakfast superb and sent off with explicit driving directions to our next stop. Put Oak Lodge on your wish list.

Our host Robin was exceptionally attentive and was very well informed.I I would highlight the beautifully maintained garden.the house is surrounded by a charming garden with a myriad of small well maintained paths creating s a very lovely ambience for the house.

If I had to be critical it might be from the noise on the road
