I love French hotel breakfasts, and this did not disappoint! Abundant coffee from high quality coffee machines, and just a variety of options for protein, fruit, and of course baked goods with butter and jam! We also like the super central location. And although it was chilly when we were there, when I think back, the fact that there was Air Conditioning controllable from the room thermostat would have been bliss later in the summer...

We felt like they skimped a little: only a single pillow per person, and the smallest amount of toilet paper we have ever been given at a hotel. We also thought the sculptural lights based on figures of black men on the grand staircase, which were just plug ins, were an unwonted decorative reference to the history of the slave trade in the area. There are great exhibits in Nantes that tell the tragic stories of that era, and it was jarring to see a decorative reference.

A lovely city hotel right in the heart of Nantes. We enjoyed everything — the room, the breakfast, the location — but above all, the warm and consistently positive attitude of the reception staff truly stood out. A special thank you to Simon, who went above and beyond, from securing restaurant reservations to offering excellent sightseeing recommendations

The only thing I can think of is that I hope to be luckier next time and get a room with a better view!

We stayed at the 4 star Oceania in Nantes for just one night and wish we had booked it for the two nights we had spent the week before at the supposed 4 star Novotel on the Loire which is more like 3 star maximum there! No comparison with the Oceania which was fresh, clean, characterful being a converted stableyard and home to the owner ( Graslin) in the 18th century after whom the Place Graslin is named . Halle de Pommeraye and shopping street of rue Crebillon leading down to the place Royale, literally out of the arched enclosed courtyard entrance and excellent restaurants within a few minutes walk like la Cigale !

We were driving, prior to our arrival to arrival to the Hotel I had requested parking or the vehicle. I was told to call them before arrival. I called and a Gracious staff member Simon navigated us through the whole process leading us to the parking lot. Once upon arrival at our request, he met us in the parking lot to navigate once again into the Hotel. We arrived around 7:30pm, we were all tired and hungry. Simon suggested a restaurant and made reservations for us (which at that time of the night is virtually impossible, but he did!) The breakfast was very good and plentiful, the rooms were spacious and clean, the staff was exceptional and the location was perfect.

The scrabbled eggs at breakfast, but we encountered that throughout France.

Let me say that the breakfast could be improved: they didn’t have bacon and the dishes had a trace of smell of prevoius food

The reception staff were exceptional, providing outstanding service (10/10). The facilities were as described and of a good standard. The hotel has a very pleasant and welcoming atmosphere generally.

The breakfast offerings were limited in variety. Basic items, such as eggs, were not readily available, and we had to request them specifically from the kitchen staff. Additionally, the kitchen staff could have been a little more welcoming.

Loved this hotel would stay again! Nice welcome from helpful reception, also providing asap and advice. Such a comfy bed, very clean and the breakfast was lovely, the staff at breakfast were very helpful. The location was 4lexcellent for getting everywhere. A lovely square nearby and a tram at the bottom of the road. Restaurant Franklin around the corner was wonderful, as was the Speakeasy Bar around the corner

The staff were friendly and extremely helpful throughout. Great location. Comfy bed and very clean. It was also very quiet on the second floor. Good shower and lovely soft towels.

My room felt a little lacking in character. Paper cups and instant coffee and instant milk in the room was a bit disappointing and not good for the environment.

The hotel is beautifully fitted out and is in a great location. The staff were exceptionally helpful at all times. Breakfast was excellent- I was particularly pleased to note that scrambled eggs were made using fresh eggs and not a liquid / processed option so often found in hotels these days.

The only issue was that although the bar was open on Sunday evening the only staff member available was a receptionist trying to cover both areas. Also she didn’t really know how to make simple drinks (gin & tonic) and they didn’t have any tonic either !! She was extremely nice about it but we felt she shouldn’t be put in this position.

Everything was amazing - from the location, the friendly faces on arrival, the size of the room and the amenities. Everything was a delighted and I could not recommend this hotel enough to anyone.

Easy to miss due to the busy street so make sure to have your maps on when you are locating it!
