We really appreciated the thoughtfulness and friendliness of the staff. Our evening meal was a gift from our son as part of The Buy A Gift company, which meant we had a different menu. This was cheaper and very limiting in choice. The staff were so helpful and went above and beyond to help us. They saved the day and helped us to enjoy our evening as a special occasion. Our room, though small, was very well designed including a large bathroom, with walk in shower. It had many quality facilities, including a coffee machine and Scottish Soap Company shower gel and shampoo. Loved the tasty full English breakfast overlooking the harbour. We will definitely return. Thank you!

Great location and the quayside room was very nicely presented. If you’re going in the summer it’s great to able to sit outside in the sun looking over the water & you can get a drink from the outside bar. We also ate in the pub when we arrived and the food was good .

The room whilst nice had a few minor issues. There were no draws at all so finding a place to put your clothes was difficult. The room had an open type wardrobe with just 4 hangers . The table used to make drink had no plug for the kettle which meant you had to carry it across to the plug on the small bedside table 🤷‍♂️. The TV on the wall also extended over the only table in the room which meant it got in the way somewhat. Soundproofing above wasn’t great & you could hear the people in the room above walking around . Breakfast was OK but on the two days we were there the coffee machine had broken so only option of instant, they didn’t have any other teas than breakfast tea. Also the large breakfast I had didn’t match the description on the menu , with a couple of items missing.

The hotel is wonderfully placed in the centre of Whitby. It has a beautiful view of the harbour, with rooms 1 & 2 having their own private seating outside. It is a short walk from the abbey, and the closest parking is a 5 minute walk away. The staff were also very helpful and friendly.

We had beautiful weather during our stay, which meant the room was very warm! We did not have a fan, and were unable to leave the window open (due to our room being on the ground floor, and the window could be opened fully. So, for safety reasons, we could not leave it open as we slept). The mattress was also uncomfortable and very squeaky.

Central harbour position with wonderful views. Very clean room with all that you would need. Standard double bed but would have liked king size but understand room size limited so would have been difficult to fit. Unsure if k size in any of the other rooms. Room had a great view of the harbour too.Great pub food .....enjoyed our fish and chips.

Very picky but do like black pudding with a full english. Coffee machine broken while we were staying but prefer tea at breakfast time. Some noise in the morning from barrels being moved etc but we were staying in a pub but otherwise very quiet night.

This was a perfect location with a beautiful room overlooking the bay, close to everything. We also loved the little private seating area outside our room where we could enjoy the sunshine and outdoor bar. Breakfast was great.

Unfortunately the sound proofing was terrible. We were woken & kept awake by the residents staying in the room above us from 5.30am & at night, simply by them walking around and using the bathroom facilities which could also be heard. The ceiling kept creaking and thudding from footsteps. This needs to be improved as it's not fair on paying residents listening to noises made just by someone going about their normal day to day business. Would have been a perfect stay otherwise.

Great, central location. Lovely, bedroom with great views overlooking the harbour (room 7, first floor). Tea/coffee/iron supplied. Large bathroom with toiletries. Bedroom/bathroom and communal areas were very clean. Easy check in and out. We didn’t eat any other meals due to only staying 1 night, but the included breakfast was good with a varied selection.

Mattress was a little too firm, but this is personal choice. Woken before 7am by what sounded like heavy furniture being moved around for around half an hour, but in hindsight was possibly beer barrels being delivered/moved? There was noise from the pub on the floor below as expected, but it didn’t go on too late (Thursday evening stay) and wouldn’t stop me booking again.

We have had the most wonderful stay. We were blown away by the location and loved having our own little terrace on which to watch the sun go down. Don’t worry about the beer garden outside as it shut early evening and we had the place to ourselves - a real treat. We also had two excellent meals in the pub and we are already planning our return visit. Other visitors might want to bring their own bath foam (or similar) for the gorgeous bath in the bedroom as the toiletries are fastened in place in the bathroom so I couldn’t use them for the bath. Also no conditioner - no issue with this but I’ll bring some next time. We are looking forward to another stay.

The room (family room with sea view) was lovely, well laid out, had everything we needed and more with a stunning view of the harbour walls and Tate Hill Sands. The included breakfast was delicious and there was a huge range, our evening meal was wonderful and great value for money and the staff were helpful, attentive and just downright nice. The fact it's a dog friendly property made it even better with lots of lovely friendly pooches to pet.

The only thing that might be an issue to some guests (but didn't bother us in the slightest) is the fact that the sound from the live music in the bar carried upstairs to the rooms.

The hotel was lovely, we had an evening meal there the one night and it was lovely. Breakfasts were also pretty good. The room was big, very comfortable and had everything we needed. The best thing for us was the view out of the bedroom window of the harbour and the harbour mouth, it was fantastic.

Most of the staff were great. A couple were a bit miserable. The 2nd night there happened to be the staff Christmas party so the bar closed for guests at 10 but the staff party went on till the early hours and it woke me up a few times. So that wasn't the best. We would definitely stay again, preferably without the staff party though.
