The service was better than anything I have ever experienced in five-star hotels. The care with which we were welcomed, the complimentary afternoon snack, the possibility of enjoying the pool or the facilities of the manor house even after checking out of the room – all offered with genuine warmth – was outstanding. The rooms are spacious and extremely comfortable, adding to the overall sense of relaxation and well-being. The pool is excellent, everything is peaceful, and we were recommended some wonderful regional restaurants. It was three full and memorable days. Congratulations, Afonso and family.

We absolutely loved staying at the Companhia do Cacau! What was meant to be a a convenient pitstop between Porto and Algarve, turned out to be an amazing experience and wonderful stay. The Palacete is a well restored, beautiful building, run by a very sweet and interesting family which really make a big effort to make their guests feel at home. Think of delicious breakfast, afternoon tea in a beautiful parlor overlooking town, plunge in the pool, soak up in the hammam, the scent of orange blossom in the garden, and making our own chocolate bars in the chocolate factory (the caramel one is really good!). The only downside....our children were sad to leave and we could have easily stayed longer. Highly recommended!

The hotel was beautifully restored with a sophisticated touch, and our room was impressively spacious and comfortable. The family running it were incredibly welcoming, and learning their story, as well as the chocolate-making process, made our off-season stay so enjoyable. We can only imagine how amazing it would be in the summer with the pool!

The family running it went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, sharing their story and even giving us a behind-the-scenes look at their chocolate-making process. Absolutely outstanding experience! We were treated to a visit to the palacete on our arrival, followed by a scrumptious afternoon tea. We were the only guests for the night, but we felt the family did absolutely everything to make us feel at home. Including an extensive breakfast buffet, made up of homemade and regional goodies, before we were taken round the chocolate factory. All in all, this was the best hotel experience I've had for a very long time

Weak WiFi in the room. But it really didn't matter

We had an unforgettable time spent at the property, starting from the arrival and till the end! The atmosphere is very unique and the history is preserved and well taken care of. We had a delicious breakfast served at the main house in the morning and had a tour of chocolate fabric after.

I wish we can stay another day

Fabulous little gem, lots of history, the facilities and hospitality were superb. The property has lovely pool and grounds and includes an artisanal chocolate production unit that the owner will show you around and let you sample chocolate! A super size bath to soak away any travel aches and pains too!

There is nothing to dislike about this delightful home from home ( if you live in a palace !)

Super quiet in the middle of a small romantic town with its own chocolate factory. Very nice staff that let us taste some of the amazing chocolate - great experience!

The hotel is excellent! Converted from an old mansion into an upscale facility, it has everything and more for quality stay! And the staff (owners) were very friendly and accommodating.
